The American Academy of Neurology Institute (AANI) is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

AMA credit designation

The American Academy of Neurology Institute (AANI), a subsidiary of the AAN, designates this live activity for a maximum of (*) AMA PRA Category 1 Credit(s)™. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

Non-physicians may claim AMA PRA Category 1 Credit™ as accepted by their licensing or credentialing boards. Participants are responsible for verifying recognition of AMA PRA Category 1 Credit™ with their professional board or licensing body. The AAN will issue documentation indicating participation in an activity certified for AMA PRA Category 1 Credit™.

ABPN statement

The American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology has reviewed the 2026 AAN Annual Meeting and has approved the program as a part of a comprehensive lifelong learning program, which is mandated by the ABMS as a necessary component of continuing certification.

Program glossary

EDUCATION

Business Administrator Day (BA): A day of programming dedicated to business administrators with actionable content, engaging dialogue, and networking.

Course (C): An education program using one or more teaching methods, including didactic, interactive, and case-based.

Hubs (H): Hubs bring you an innovative learning experience you can’t get anywhere else, and there’s no better place to meet colleagues who share your passions.

Neurology Education (C): An education program that blends teaching, mentorship, networking, and a vibrant community of educators.

Section Showcase (SS): Showcasing one of 40+ AAN sections representing a broad range of neurologic subspecialties and interests.

Skills Workshop (C): A four-hour interactive, hands-on program to learn and practice new skills. Skills Workshops require a separate fee and registration.

SCIENCE

Late-breaking Science (LS): A group of previously unpublished abstracts containing timely, significant, and innovative content.

Neuroscience in the Clinic Session (N): A two-hour session featuring a mix of scientists and clinicians actively engaged in lively case discussion to integrate scientific research with clinical application. Scientists will provide background on a case and clinicians will apply the case to a patient. Sessions will feature abstract presentations related to the topic and end with a panel discussion.

Plenary Session (PL): A premier session highlighting the latest advances in neuroscience presented by some of the most cutting-edge and well-known thought leaders in the field of neurology.

Poster Session (P): A series of thematic abstract presentations in an electronic format.

Scientific Session (S): A group of abstracts covering a similar topic presented in an oral format. Presentations are eight minutes in length with four minutes for question and answer with the author.

Society Spotlight (SP): An AAN scientific session featuring encore presentations of top research presented at previous subspecialty meetings.

NETWORKING EVENT

A must-see event to complement the meeting’s science and education programming. Interact and connect with colleagues from around the world!
