invited to sign up and attend conferences to discuss issues that can change the world. The inaugural meeting was organised for the first time in Dubai from September 1-4, where 80 students comprising Emirati and Commomvealth students from institutitions such as UAE University, Zayed University, Khalifa University, Heriot-Watt, Wollongong, Higher Colleges of Technology, British University in Dubai, Masdar Institute, Abu Dhabi Polytechnic and American University of Sharjah, participated. This meeting is part of a series of student conferences that will take place in Commonwealth cities around the wo rld in the lead -up to a two-part

ISEP Student Stories: Shamshu Makes Friends in North Carolina Posted on September 11, 2013 Leave a comment Electrical engineering student Shamshu S, from the American University of Sharjah in the United Arab Emirates, spent a semester in Raleigh at North Carolina State University. He shares how study abroad allowed him to forge unforgettable friendships, and even helped him land an internship in Portugal! Studying abroad has definitely made a mark in my life, and I will forever be grateful to ISEP for giving me the chance to study abroad. It has benefited me in several ways and has made me a much better person. However, the most important thing I gained from my study abroad experience were the friends I made. I studied abroad at North Carolina State University, Raleigh, USA.

My best friends During my semester abroad, I had to live in a dorm for exchange students, where each exchange student is partnered with an American roommate. Hence, I had the chance to live with around 100 exchange students from all around the world as well as 100 American students. I learnt a lot about the different cultures in the world from them. We became such good friends and spent a lovely semester having fun. Even after the semester ended, we all still keep in touch and I plan to travel around the world and visit all of my friends. Apart from my dorm buddies, I also made lots of other good friends through my classes and also by taking part in various activities and meeting new people. For instance, I was part of a soccer team at NC State and I made a bunch of good friends through this as well. We competed in a soccer tournament and we reached the finals but lost the final game. However, this tournament brought all of us together and until today we are good friends and we keep in touch with each other all the time.

Poor communication skills and a failure to customise CVs to the job are two ofthe main barriers stopping UAE job seekers landing their dream job, according to a recent employer sUlVey. Job site Bayt.com's Hiring Practices in the MENA employer survey showed more than 20 per cent of employers cited poor language on a CV was the biggest mistake job seekers could make. Not customising the CV for the job applied for was the second biggest mistake, according to 19.7 per cent of employers. Exaggerations and poor formatting also irked employers, along with a lack offocus and key omissions. In response to the results, Bayt.com is offering a free CV clinic at the NAJAR, Education, Training and Careers Fair on October 29 to 31 at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (Adnec). NAJAH is the largest exhibition for local and international universities, training institutions and leading companies interested in driving their recruitment activities in the region. Bayt.com vice president of sales Suhail Masri said a good CV was "an applicant's passport to employment." "Our experts will shed light on the importance of a good CV and offer help, career advice and recommendations on major aspects associated with a successful job search." A special presentation on CV writing and interview techniques will also be delivered at the fair. Masri said about 3,400 jobs in the UAE alone were posted on Bayt.com each day. The company's Job IndexSUlVey conducted earlier this year showed almost 70 per cent ofUAE employers were looking to source talent this year, with engineering, business management and commerce the highest in demand. Meanwhile candidates with teamwork, communication and leadership skills were likely to have the best chance ofsecuring a role. "Since employers receive countless applications for most openings it is imperative for job seekers to have an impressive CV and a professional competitive online public profile as that is the first thing employers will see to get a glimpse of the candidate,' Masri added. Everyone recognises the value of education for career and life overall and everyone wishes to make it most relevant and useful for various goals. At the same time, most people realise that no human society has yet found the perfect formula for schooling and education. Despite decades of studies, surveys, and tests, feweducational systems can claim any satisfactory level of success 0 11 various standards of assessments or indicator lists. Most Significantly, ehlployers have consistently been complaining that their new.'young hires (fresh graduates) lack essential skills. both the practical kind and the critical-thinking, creative type. In our Arab region, a study was undertaken in Egypt last year where the high levels of u nemployment were primarily blamed on the essential skills that graduates seem to lack. The study emphasised the fac t that unemployment is so much higher among 18-25 year-olds. compared to the older, more work-a-perienced population. All kinds of remedies have been

tried, ranging from bigger budgets to teacher training and curriculum revamps and reforms. Many parents have resorted to radical solutions, such as home-schooling. that is putting aside the entire educational system that society offers, whether through th~ public or the private sectors. Indeed, in the US, more than two mj']Jion pupils are being fully educated at home today. Other fast-growing solutions include "self-directed" learning, particularly the online learning tren9 that is accelerating nmvadays. Now, I believe thai education should not be seen as consisting of some trainiog programme 'of skills. Education is a lifelong process of building a perSon as a whole, one who understands the world aroWld him/her in all its dimen sions (physical, psychological. social,

The survey results indicated that there is indeed a strong corre!ation between the de velopment of those skills and the high quality of work and life that everyone aspires to. Furthermore, among those skills, "real-world problem solving" was iden tified as the most significant detenninant of the ki nd of work and life that the person would lead. Then, the survey reported some worrying results: Only 15 per cent of US graduates reported that they did develop most of those skills in school. Indeed, S9 per cent clearly stated that they only developed those skills outside classrooms. In educating our children, we need to ensure a few essential things. First, that they remain happy. Second, that they remain curious and interested. Third, that they see the relevance of the knowledge they acquire to their lives, communities and environments. [f these essential components are absent from our education system, students will not want to learn! As we start the new school year, let us resolve to do our best to implement these ideas - for the sake of our children and our future.

‫أكثر من ‪ 1,400‬طالب وطالبة ينضمون للجامعة األميركية في الشارقة ھذا العام‬ ‫تمثل الجامعة األميركية في الشارقة فرصة ال تعوض‬ ‫لخوض تجربة توفر للطالب بيئة غنية بالموارد التي‬ ‫ستساعد الطالب على فھم دورھم في المجتمع‬ ‫وأھميتھم لإلنسانية‪ .‬صرح بذلك الدكتور توماس‬ ‫ھوكستيتلر‪ ،‬مدير الجامعة بالوكالة في افتتاحه للقاء‬ ‫التعريفي للطلبة المستجدين وأولياء أمورھم‪ ،‬في قاعة‬ ‫المؤتمرات الكبرى مساء أمس‪ ،‬الجمعة‪ .‬وقد سجل‬ ‫أكثر من ‪ 1,400‬طالب وطالبة في أميركية الشارقة لھذا‬ ‫العام الجامعي‪ ،‬مسجلين بذلك زيادة تبلغ ‪ %15‬عن‬ ‫العام الماضي‪ .‬وبھذه الجلسة تكون الجامعة قد بدأت‬ ‫فعاليات أسبوع كامل يھدف إلى مساعدة الطالب على‬ ‫فھمھم للجامعة فھما كامال وتعريفھم بنمط الحياة فيھا‪.‬‬ ‫ورحب الدكتور ھوكستيتلر بالطلبة المستجدين نيابة‬ ‫عن صاحب السمو الشيخ الدكتور سلطان بن محمد القاسمي‪ ،‬عضو المجلس األعلى لالتحاد‪ ،‬حاكم الشارقة رئيس الجامعة‬ ‫األميركية في الشارقة‪ .‬وتحدث الدكتور ھوكستيتلر عن أھمية التعليم الحر في الجامعة األميركية في الشارقة وحث الطلبة على‬ ‫االستفادة من ھذا المنھج الذي يشجعھم على دراسة مواد متنوعة من تخصصات مختلفة لتوسيع أفاق معارفھم‪ .‬وأضاف” ‪:‬ھذه‬ ‫الممارسة مقصودة ومخطط لھا بعناية كي ينخرط الطالب في عملية تحليلية تتناول التركيب المعرفي نفسه بأوجھه ومكوناته‬ ‫المتعددة‪ .‬وباختصار‪ ،‬تسعي الجامعة إلى تزويد طلبتھا بنموذج متوسع يعرض إلى التشكيلة الواسعة من التجربة المعرفية‬ ‫اإلنسانية‪ ،‬بما يساعدھم على النجاح في حياتھم بعد التخرج“ ‪.‬‬ ‫وأكد مدير الجامعة بالوكالة على أھمية الجانب األخالقي في النظام التعليمي ألميركية الشارقة‪ .‬وأوضح للطالب أنه أثناء دراستھم‬ ‫في الجامعة األميركية في الشارقة ستسنح لھم الفرصة لالطالع على نماذج من حياة وممارسات أعضاء المجتمع الجامعي‪ ،‬والتي‬ ‫تعكس االحترام العميق لكرامة ونزاھة كل فرد من األفراد الموجودين في الحرم الجامعي‪ ،‬وقال إن مستوى إلتزام الجامعة األخالقي‬ ‫باألمانة والعيش الشريف سيساعد الطالب على صياغة سلوك شخصي وف ًقا لمبادئ السلوك القويم التي تحكم الحياة اليومية في‬ ‫رحاب الجامعة‪ .‬ونصح الطالب أن يلتزموا بھذه األخالق مھما كانت الحياة الدراسية مليئة بالتحديات‪ .‬وأخبرھم في ھذا المقام عن‬ ‫ميثاق النزاھة األكاديمية الذي وقعوه في نھاية الفعالية وقال لھم أن ذكرى توقيع ھذا المثياق ستمنحھم العزيمة لاللتزام بالمنھج‬ ‫األخالقي في رحلتھم التعليمية‪.‬‬ ‫وأدار اللقاء علي الشحيمي‪ ،‬نائب مدير الجامعة إلدارة االستقطاب والقبول‪ ،‬الذي أثنى على الطلبة المستجدين ورحب بھم وبأولياء‬ ‫أمورھم وضيوفھم في أميركية الشارقة‪ .‬وقال "إن جامعتنا كما تعلمون تنتقي طالبھا بحرص وعناية‪ ،‬مما يجعل قبولكم في جامعتنا‬ ‫إنجاز يدعو إلى الفخر‪ ،‬وستبذل الجامعة قصارى جھدھا لمساعدتكم على تحقيق أھدافكم"‪.‬‬ ‫كما رحب الدكتور مالكوم ريتشاردز‪ ،‬وكيل مدير الجامعة باإلنابة‪ ،‬في كلمته بالطلبة‪ ،‬وقال إنه يتمنى منھم أن يعدوا الجامعة بيتھم‬ ‫الثاني‪ ،‬و أضاف‪" :‬ستوفر لكم الجامعة جميع الموارد التي ستمكنكم من اإلنطالق في مسار من التعلم يستمر مدى الحياة بما‬ ‫يؤھلكم للنجاح في عالم اليوم دائم التغير‪ .‬وفيما تعملون بجد في ھذه الجامعة‪ ،‬سوف تكتسبون الكثير من المھارات‪ ،‬بما في ذلك‬ ‫المھارات االجتماعية‪ ،‬والقدرات الفكرية التي ستساعدكم على النجاح في الحياة المھنية بعد التخرج"‪.‬‬ ‫وتوجه وكيل مدير الجامعة باإلنابة إلى أولياء األمور وعبر عن فخر الجامعة الختيارھم لھا لكي تكون موطن أبناءھم األكاديمي في‬ ‫السنوات المقبلة‪ ،‬وأنھم في الجامعة يأخذون ھذا الشرف بمحمل الجد وعلى أنه تكليف سيخلصون في أدائه‪ .‬وأضاف أن الجامعة‬ ‫عندما اختارت أبناءھم وبناتھم فضلتھم على الكثير من المرشحين اآلخرين الذين كانت لديھم مؤھالت عالية‪ ،‬وأن الجامعة اختارتھم‬

‫‪07 09 2013‬‬ ‫الشارقة ‪ :‬تمثل الجامعة األميركية في الشارقة فرصة ال تعوض لخوض تجربة توفر للطالب بيئة غنية بالموارد التي ستساعد الطالب على فھم دورھم‬ ‫في المجتمع وأھميتھم لإلنسانية‪ .‬صرح بذلك الدكتور توماس ھوكستيتلر‪ ،‬مدير الجامعة بالوكالة في افتتاحه للقاء التعريفي للطلبة المستجدين وأولياء‬ ‫أمورھم‪ ،‬في قاعة المؤتمرات الكبرى مساء أمس‪ ،‬الجمعة‪ .‬وقد سجل أكثر من ‪ 1,400‬طالب وطالبة في أميركية الشارقة لھذا العام الجامعي‪ ،‬مسجلين‬ ‫بذلك زيادة تبلغ ‪ %15‬عن العام الماضي‪ .‬وبھذه الجلسة تكون الجامعة قد بدأت فعاليات أسبوع كامل يھدف إلى مساعدة الطالب على فھمھم للجامعة فھما‬ ‫كامال وتعريفھم بنمط الحياة فيھا‪.‬‬ ‫ورحب الدكتور ھوكستيتلر بالطلبة المستجدين نيابة عن صاحب السمو الشيخ الدكتور سلطان بن محمد القاسمي‪ ،‬عضو المجلس األعلى لالتحاد‪ ،‬حاكم‬ ‫الشارقة رئيس الجامعة األميركية في الشارقة‪ .‬وتحدث الدكتور ھوكستيتلر عن أھمية التعليم الحر في الجامعة األميركية في الشارقة وحث الطلبة على‬ ‫االستفادة من ھذا المنھج الذي يشجعھم على دراسة مواد متنوعة من تخصصات مختلفة لتوسيع أفاق معارفھم‪ .‬وأضاف" ‪:‬ھذه الممارسة مقصودة‬ ‫ومخطط لھا بعناية كي ينخرط الطالب في عملية تحليلية تتناول التركيب المعرفي نفسه بأوجھه ومكوناته المتعددة‪ .‬وباختصار‪ ،‬تسعي الجامعة إلى تزويد‬ ‫طلبتھا بنموذج متوسع يعرض إلى التشكيلة الواسعة من التجربة المعرفية اإلنسانية‪ ،‬بما يساعدھم على النجاح في حياتھم بعد التخرج" ‪.‬‬ ‫وأكد مدير الجامعة بالوكالة على أھمية الجانب األخالقي في النظام التعليمي ألميركية الشارقة‪ .‬وأوضح للطالب أنه أثناء دراستھم في الجامعة األميركية‬ ‫في الشارقة ستسنح لھم الفرصة لالطالع على نماذج من حياة وممارسات أعضاء المجتمع الجامعي‪ ،‬والتي تعكس االحترام العميق لكرامة ونزاھة كل‬ ‫فرد من األفراد الموجودين في الحرم الجامعي‪ ،‬وقال إن مستوى إلتزام الجامعة األخالقي باألمانة والعيش الشريف سيساعد الطالب على صياغة سلوك‬ ‫شخصي وفقًا لمبادئ السلوك القويم التي تحكم الحياة اليومية في رحاب الجامعة‪ .‬ونصح الطالب أن يلتزموا بھذه األخالق مھما كانت الحياة الدراسية‬ ‫مليئة بالتحديات‪ .‬وأخبرھم في ھذا المقام عن ميثاق النزاھة األكاديمية الذي وقعوه في نھاية الفعالية وقال لھم أن ذكرى توقيع ھذا المثياق ستمنحھم‬ ‫العزيمة لاللتزام بالمنھج األخالقي في رحلتھم التعليمية‪.‬‬ ‫وأدار اللقاء علي الشحيمي‪ ،‬نائب مدير الجامعة إلدارة االستقطاب والقبول‪ ،‬الذي أثنى على الطلبة المستجدين ورحب بھم وبأولياء أمورھم وضيوفھم في‬ ‫أميركية الشارقة‪ .‬وقال"إن جامعتنا كما تعلمون تنتقي طالبھا بحرص وعناية‪ ،‬مما يجعل قبولكم في جامعتنا إنجاز يدعو إلى الفخر‪ ،‬وستبذل الجامعة‬ ‫قصارى جھدھا لمساعدتكم على تحقيق أھدافكم"‪.‬‬ ‫كما رحب الدكتور مالكوم ريتشاردز‪ ،‬وكيل مدير الجامعة باإلنابة‪ ،‬في كلمته بالطلبة‪ ،‬وقال إنه يتمنى منھم أن يعدوا الجامعة بيتھم الثاني‪ ،‬و أضاف‪:‬‬ ‫"ستوفر لكم الجامعة جميع الموارد التي ستمكنكم من اإلنطالق في مسار من التعلم يستمر مدى الحياة بما يؤھلكم للنجاح في عالم اليوم دائم التغير‪ .‬وفيما‬ ‫تعملون بجد في ھذه الجامعة‪ ،‬سوف تكتسبون الكثير من المھارات‪ ،‬بما في ذلك المھارات االجتماعية‪ ،‬والقدرات الفكرية التي ستساعدكم على النجاح في‬ ‫الحياة المھنية بعد التخرج"‪.‬‬

‫وتوجه وكيل مدير الجامعة باإلنابة إلى أولياء األمور وعبر عن فخر الجامعة الختيارھم لھا لكي تكون موطن أبناءھم األكاديمي في السنوات المقبلة‪،‬‬ ‫وأنھم في الجامعة يأخذون ھذا الشرف بمحمل الجد وعلى أنه تكليف سيخلصون في أدائه‪ .‬وأضاف أن الجامعة عندما اختارت أبناءھم وبناتھم فضلتھم‬ ‫على الكثير من المرشحين اآلخرين الذين كانت لديھم مؤھالت عالية‪ ،‬وأن الجامعة اختارتھم بالتحديد ألنھا رأت فيھم الميزات الفكرية والشخصية التي‬ ‫تعد األساس للنجاح في أميركية الشارقة‪.‬‬ ‫كما أعطت ھذه الجلسة الترحيبية الطالب فكرة عن الحياة االجتماعية في مجتمع أميركية الشارقة‪.‬‬ ‫انتھى‪-‬‬‫نبذة عن الجامعة األميركية في الشارقة‪:‬‬

‫أنشأ صاحب السمو الشيخ الدكتور سلطان بن محمد القاسمي عضو المجلس األعلى حاكم الشارقة الجامعة األميركية في الشارقة عام ‪ ،1997‬وتوخى فيھا‬ ‫أن تكون مؤسسة تعليمية رائدة في منطقة الخليج‪ .‬وتقع ھذه الجامعة المستقلة وغير الربحية والتي تم تأسيسھا على النمط األميركي‪ ،‬في المدينة الجامعية‬ ‫بالشارقة‪.‬‬

‫وقد دخلت الجامعة األميركية في الشارقة ضمن تصنيف أفضل ‪ 450‬جامعة في العالم‪ ،‬وذلك حسب تصنيف كوكاريللي سيموند )‪ (QS‬للجامعات في‬ ‫لندن‪ ،‬وھو واحد من أفضل التصنيفات المعتمدة للجامعات في العالم‪ .‬وتوفر الجامعة ‪ 26‬تخصصا ً في درجة البكالوريوس و‪ 54‬تخصصا ً فرعيا ً و‪13‬‬

‫تخصصا ً في درجة الماجستير في كلياتھا التي تشمل كليات العمارة والفنون والتصميم‪ ،‬اآلداب والعلوم‪ ،‬الھندسة‪ ،‬واإلدارة واألعمال‪ .‬وتم تصميم ھذه‬ ‫البرامج لمواجھة تحديات بيئة األعمال والصناعة التنافسية والديناميكية‪.‬‬

‫الجامعة األميركية في الشارقة تزيد المساعدات المالية لطالبھا وال تزيد‬ ‫الرسوم الدراسية عليھم‬

‫الشارقة ‪ :‬زادت الجامعة األميركية في الشارقة المساعدات المالية والمنح الدراسية الجزئية لطالبھا بدون أن تزيد‬ ‫عليھم الرسوم الدراسية لھذا العام‪ .‬صرح بذلك اليوم الدكتور توماس ھوكستيتلر مدير الجامعة بالوكالة‪.‬‬ ‫وقال الدكتور ھوكستيتلر إنه تم اتخاذ قرار عدم زيادة الرسوم الدراسية لھذا العام في آخر اجتماع عقده مجلس أمناء‬ ‫الجامعة والذي ترأسه صاحب السمو الشيخ الدكتور سلطان بن محمد القاسمي‪ ،‬عضو المجلس األعلى لالتحاد‪،‬‬ ‫حاكم الشارقة رئيس الجامعة األميركية في الشارقة‪ ،‬وذلك دعماً لألسر وألبنائھم الذين يدرسون في الجامعة‪ .‬وعبر‬ ‫مدير الجامعة بالوكالة عن شكره وتقديره لصاحب السمو حاكم الشارقة‪ ،‬والذي جاء القرار بلفتة كريمة من سموه‪،‬‬ ‫والقى ترحيبا وتقديراً من أعضاء مجلس أمناء الجامعة‪ .‬كما شكر الدكتور ھوكستيتلر كذلك أعضاء مجلس أمناء‬ ‫الجامعة‪.‬‬ ‫وقال علي شحيمي‪ ،‬نائب مدير الجامعة إلدارة االستقطاب والقبول‪ ،‬بأن معدل الرسوم الدراسية لبرنامج البكالوريوس‬ ‫في الجامعة األميركية في الشارقة يبلغ حوالي ‪ 80,000‬درھما سنويا‪ ،‬وھو مبلغ مشابه للرسوم الدراسية لمعظم‬ ‫الجامعات العالمية المساوية للجامعة األميركية في الشارقة في المستوى في الواليات المتحدة األميركية وأوروبا‪.‬‬ ‫وأضاف بأنه مع ذلك تدفع األغلبية من طلبتنا مبالغ أقل‪ ،‬حيث يحصل أكثر من نصف طالب الجامعة على مساعدات‬ ‫مالية ومنح دراسية جزئية يصل إجماليھا إلى ‪ 80‬مليون درھم في السنة‪.‬‬

‫والجامعة األميركية في الشارقة ھي مؤسسة غير ربحية للتعليم العالي‪ ،‬استثمرت في طلبتھا وھيئتي التدريس‬ ‫واإلدارة فيھا‪ ،‬فأثمر ذلك أن أصبحت‪ ،‬وخالل عمرھا الزمني القصير الذي ال يتجاوز ‪ 16‬عاماً‪ ،‬رائدة التعليم العالي‬ ‫المتطور في المنطقة‪ .‬كمادخلت الجامعة ضمن تصنيف أفضل ‪450‬جامعة في العالم‪ ،‬وذلك حسب تصنيف كوكاريللي‬ ‫سيموند )‪(QS‬للجامعات في لندن‪ ،‬وھو واحد من أفضل التصنيفات المعتمدة للجامعات في العالم‪.‬‬ ‫وقال شحيمي "ينصب اھتمامنا في الجامعة األميركية في الشارقة على جودة التعليم‪ ،‬وھو ما يتجلى في المكانة‬ ‫المرموقة والسمعة األكاديمية المتميزة التي حزنا عليھما بين الطلبة وأھاليھم ومدرسي الجامعة واإلداريين فيھا‪".‬‬ ‫موضحاً بأن ھذه المساعدات المالية والمنح الدراسية الجزئية تھدف إلى معاونة الطلبة المحتاجين في تكاليف‬ ‫تعليمھم في الجامعة‪ .‬كما يحصل الطالب الذين تفوقوا في المدرسة على منح دراسية جزئية‪ ،‬وباإلضافة إلى‬ ‫الخصومات العائلية لألخوة الذين يدرسون في الجامعة األميركية في الشارقة‪.‬‬ ‫نبذة عن الجامعة األميركية في الشارقة‬

‫اﻟﺷﺎﺭﻗﺔ ‪ :‬ﺣﺎﺯﺕ ﺍﻟﺟﺎﻣﻌﺔ ﺍﻷﻣﻳﺭﻛﻳﺔ ﻓﻲ ﺍﻟﺷﺎﺭﻗﺔ ﻋﻠﻰ ﻋﺿﻭﻳﺔ ﻛﺎﻣﻠﺔ ﻓﻲ ﺍﻟﻣﺟﻠﺱ ﺍﻟﻌﺎﻟﻣﻲ ﻟﻌﻣﺩﺍء ﻛﻠﻳﺎﺕ ﺍﻟﻬﻧﺩﺳﺔ ﻭھﻭ ﻣﻥ ﺃﻭﺍﺋﻝ ﻣﻧﻅﻣﺎﺕ ﺍﻟﻬﻧﺩﺳﺔ ﺍﻟﺗﻲ ﺗﺷﻣﻝ‬ ‫ﺇﺩﺍﺭﺍﺕ ﻛﻠﻳﺎﺕ ﺍﻟﻬﻧﺩﺳﺔ ﺣﻭﻝ ﺍﻟﻌﺎﻟﻡ‪ .‬ﺻﺭح ﺑﺫﻟﻙ ﺍﻟﻳﻭﻡ ﺍﻟﺩﻛﺗﻭﺭ ﺗﻭﻣﺎﺱ ھﻭﻛﺳﺗﻳﺗﻠﺭ ﻣﺩﻳﺭ ﺍﻟﺟﺎﻣﻌﺔ ﺑﺎﻟﻭﻛﺎﻟﺔ‪.‬‬ ‫ﻭﺃﻋﺭﺏ ﺍﻟﺩﻛﺗﻭﺭ ھﻭﻛﺳﺗﻳﺗﻼﺭ ﻋﻥ ﺳﺭﻭﺭ ﺇﺩﺍﺭﺓ ﺍﻟﺟﺎﻣﻌﺔ ﻟﻠﺣﺻﻭﻝ ﻋﻠﻰ ھﺫﻩ ﺍﻟﻌﺿﻭﻳﺔ ﺍﻟﻛﺎﻣﻠﺔ‪ ،‬ﻭﻗﺎﻝ ﺇﻥ ﺍﻟﺟﺎﻣﻌﺔ ﺑﺎﻋﺗﺑﺎﺭھﺎ ﺟﺎﻣﻌﺔ ﺭﺍﺋﺩﺓ ﻓﻲ ﻣﻧﻁﻘﺔ ﺍﻟﺷﺭﻕ‬ ‫ﺍﻷﻭﺳﻁ ﻭ ﺷﻣﺎﻝ ﺃﻓﺭﻳﻘﻳﺎ‪ ،‬ﺗﻌﻣﻝ ﺩﺍﺋﻣﺎ ﺑﺩﺃﺏ ﻟﻠﻭﺻﻭﻝ ﺇﻟﻰ ﺃﻋﻠﻰ ﺍﻟﻣﺭﺍﺗﺏ‪ ،‬ﻭﺇﻥ ﺍﻻﻋﺗﺭﺍﻑ ﺑﺟﻬﻭﺩ ﺍﻟﺟﺎﻣﻌﺔ ﻭﻣﻛﺎﻓﺋﺔ ﻣﻌﺎﻳﻳﺭھﺎ ﺍﻷﻛﺎﺩﻳﻣﻳﺔ ﻣﻥ ﻗﺑﻝ ﻣﻧﻅﻣﺎﺕ ﻣﺭﻣﻭﻗﺔ‬ ‫ﻛﺎﻟﻣﺟﻠﺱ ﺍﻟﻌﺎﻟﻣﻲ ﻟﻌﻣﺩﺍء ﻛﻠﻳﺎﺕ ﺍﻟﻬﻧﺩﺳﺔ ﺃﻣﺭ ﻳﺩﻋﻭ ﺇﻟﻰ ﺍﻟﻔﺧﺭ‪ .‬ﻭﺃﺿﺎﻑ‪ " :‬ﺑﺻﻔﺔ ﻛﻠﻳﺔ ﺍﻟﻬﻧﺩﺳﺔ ﻓﻲ ﺃﻣﻳﺭﻛﻳﺔ ﺍﻟﺷﺎﺭﻗﺔ ھﻲ ﺃﻛﺑﺭ ﻛﻠﻳﺔ ھﻧﺩﺳﺔ ﻓﻲ ﺍﻟﺩﻭﻟﺔ‪ ،‬ﻓﺈﻧﻬﺎ ﺃﻓﺿﻝ‬ ‫ﻣﺛﺎﻝ ﻳﺷﻳﺭ ﺇﻟﻰ ﻣﺎ ﻳﻣﻛﻥ ﻷﻣﻳﺭﻛﻳﺔ ﺍﻟﺷﺎﺭﻗﺔ ﺗﻘﺩﻳﻣﻪ ﻟﻳﺱ ﻓﻘﻁ ﻟﻁﻼﺑﻧﺎ ﺑﻝ ﻓﻲ ﺃﻭﺳﺎﻁ ﺍﻟﻌﻣﻝ ﻋﺎﻣﺔ ﻭھﺫﺍ ﺟﺯء ﻣﻥ ﺭﺅﻳﺗﻧﺎ ﺍﻻﺳﺗﺭﺍﺗﻳﺟﻳﺔ‪".‬‬ ‫ﻭﻳﺿﻡ ﻣﺟﻠﺱ ﻋﻣﺩﺍء ﺍﻟﻬﻧﺩﺳﺔ ﺍﻟﻌﺎﻟﻣﻲ ‪120‬ﻋﻣﻳﺩﺍ ﻣﻥ ‪ 40‬ﺑﻠﺩ ﺗﻘﺭﻳﺑﺎ‪ ،‬ﻭھﻭ ﻣﺳﺗﻣﺭ ﻓﻲ ﺍﻟﻧﻣﻭ ﺍﻟﺳﺭﻳﻊ‪ .‬ﻭﺗﻌﻣﻝ ﺍﻟﻣﻧﻅﻣﺔ ﻛﺷﺑﻛﺔ ﻋﺎﻟﻣﻳﺔ ﻣﻥ ﻋﻣﺩﺍء ﺍﻟﻬﻧﺩﺳﺔ ﻭﺗﺳﻌﻰ‬ ‫ﺇﻟﻰ ﺯﻳﺎﺩﺓ ﺍﻟﺗﺄﺛﻳﺭ ﺍﻟﺟﻣﻌﻲ ﻷﻋﺿﺎﺋﻬﺎ ﺑﻐﻳﺔ ﺗﻘﺩﻣﻬﺎ ﻭﻟﺗﺷﺟﻳﻊ ﺩﺭﺍﺳﺔ ﺍﻟﻬﻧﺩﺳﺔ ﻭﺃﺑﺣﺎﺛﻬﺎ‪ ،‬ﻭﻟﺧﺩﻣﺔ ﺍﻟﻣﺟﺗﻣﻊ ﺍﻟﻌﺎﻟﻣﻲ‪.‬‬ ‫ﻭﻗﺎﻝ ﺍﻟﺩﻛﺗﻭﺭ ﻟﻳﻼﻧﺩ ﺑﻼﻧﻙ‪ ،‬ﻋﻣﻳﺩ ﻛﻠﻳﺔ ﺍﻟﻬﻧﺩﺳﺔ ﺍﻻﻧﺗﻘﺎﻟﻲ ﻭﻣﻣﺛﻝ ﺃﻣﻳﺭﻛﻳﺔ ﺍﻟﺷﺎﺭﻗﺔ ﻓﻲ ﺍﻟﻣﺟﻠﺱ " ﺑﺣﺻﻭﻝ ﺍﻟﺟﺎﻣﻌﺔ ﻋﻠﻰ ھﺫﻩ ﺍﻟﻌﺿﻭﻳﺔ ﻓﺈﻧﻬﺎ ﺳﺗﺣﻅﻰ ﺑﺎﻟﻣﺯﻳﺩ ﻣﻥ‬ ‫ﺍﻟﺗﻘﺩﻳﺭ ﻭﺍﻟﺷﻬﺭﺓ ﻓﻲ ﺍﻟﻣﻧﻁﻘﺔ ﻭﻓﻲ ﺍﻟﻌﺎﻟﻡ‪".‬ﻭﺃﻛﺩ ﺍﻟﺩﻛﺗﻭﺭ ﺑﻼﻧﻙ ﺃﻥ ﻛﻠﻳﺔ ﺍﻟﻬﻧﺩﺳﺔ ﻓﻲ ﺃﻣﻳﺭﻛﻳﺔ ﺍﻟﺷﺎﺭﻗﺔ ﺍھﺗﻣﺕ ﺍھﺗﻣﺎﻣﺎ ﻛﺑﻳﺭﺍ ﻣﻧﺫ ﺍﻧﺷﺎﺋﻬﺎ ﺑﺣﺻﻭﻝ ﺑﺭﺍﻣﺟﻬﺎ ﻋﻠﻰ‬ ‫ﺍﻻﻋﺗﻣﺎﺩ ﺍﻟﺩﻭﻟﻲ ﻭﺍﻟﺗﻧﺎﻓﺱ ﻣﻊ ﺃﻓﺿﻝ ﺍﻟﺑﺭﺍﻣﺞ ﺣﻭﻝ ﺍﻟﻌﺎﻟﻡ‪.‬‬ ‫ﻭﻳﺫﻛﺭ ﺑﺄﻥ ﺑﺭﺍﻣﺞ ﺍﻟﺑﻛﺎﻟﻭﺭﻳﻭﺱ ﻓﻲ ﻛﻠﻳﺔ ﺍﻟﻬﻧﺩﺳﺔ ﺣﺎﺻﻠﺔ ﻋﻠﻰ ﺍﻋﺗﻣﺎﺩ ﺍﺑﻳﺕ )‪ (ABET‬ﻭھﻭ ﻣﺟﻠﺱ ﺍﻋﺗﻣﺎﺩ ﺑﺭﺍﻣﺞ ﺍﻟﻬﻧﺩﺳﺔ ﻭﺍﻟﺗﻛﻧﻭﻟﻭﺟﻳﺎ ﻓﻲ ﺍﻟﻭﻻﻳﺎﺕ ﺍﻟﻣﺗﺣﺩﺓ‬ ‫ﺍﻷﻣﻳﺭﻛﻳﺔ‪.‬‬ ‫ ا ﻧ ﺗﮭ ﻰ ‪-‬‬‫ﻧﺑﺫﺓ ﻋن اﻟﺟﺎﻣﻌﺔ اﻷﻣﯾﺭﻛﯾﺔ ﻓﻲ اﻟﺷﺎﺭﻗﺔ‬

‫أﻧﺷﺄ ﺻﺎﺣب اﻟﺳﻣو اﻟﺷﯾﺦ اﻟدﻛﺗور ﺳﻠطﺎن ﺑن ﻣﺣﻣد اﻟﻘﺎﺳﻣﻲ ﻋﺿو اﻟﻣﺟﻠس اﻷﻋﻠﻰ ﺣﺎﻛم اﻟﺷﺎرﻗﺔ اﻟﺟﺎﻣﻌﺔ اﻷﻣﯾرﻛﯾﺔ ﻓﻲ اﻟﺷﺎرﻗﺔ ﻋﺎم ‪ ،1997‬وﺗوﺧﻰ ﻓﯾﻬﺎ أن‬ ‫ﺗﻛون ﻣؤﺳﺳﺔ ﺗﻌﻠﯾﻣﯾﺔ ارﺋدة ﻓﻲ ﻣﻧطﻘﺔ اﻟﺧﻠﯾﺞ‪ .‬وﺗﻘﻊ ﻫذﻩ اﻟﺟﺎﻣﻌﺔ اﻟﻣﺳﺗﻘﻠﺔ وﻏﯾر اﻟرﺑﺣﯾﺔ واﻟﺗﻲ ﺗم ﺗﺄﺳﯾﺳﻬﺎ ﻋﻠﻰ اﻟﻧﻣط اﻷﻣﯾرﻛﻲ‪ ،‬ﻓﻲ اﻟﻣدﯾﻧﺔ اﻟﺟﺎﻣﻌﯾﺔ ﺑﺎﻟﺷﺎرﻗﺔ‪.‬‬ ‫وﻗد دﺧﻠت اﻟﺟﺎﻣﻌﺔ اﻷﻣﯾرﻛﯾﺔ ﻓﻲ اﻟﺷﺎرﻗﺔ ﺿﻣن ﺗﺻﻧﯾف أﻓﺿل ‪ 450‬ﺟﺎﻣﻌﺔ ﻓﻲ اﻟﻌﺎﻟم‪ ،‬وذﻟك ﺣﺳب ﺗﺻﻧﯾف ﻛوﻛﺎرﯾﻠﻠﻲ ﺳﯾﻣوﻧد )‪ (QS‬ﻟﻠﺟﺎﻣﻌﺎت ﻓﻲ ﻟﻧدن‪ ،‬وﻫو‬ ‫واﺣد ﻣن أﻓﺿل اﻟﺗﺻﻧﯾﻔﺎت اﻟﻣﻌﺗﻣدة ﻟﻠﺟﺎﻣﻌﺎت ﻓﻲ اﻟﻌﺎﻟم‪ .‬وﺗوﻓر اﻟﺟﺎﻣﻌﺔ ‪ 26‬ﺗﺧﺻﺻﺎً ﻓﻲ درﺟﺔ اﻟﺑﻛﺎﻟورﯾوس و‪ 54‬ﺗﺧﺻﺻﺎً ﻓرﻋﯾًﺎ و‪ 13‬ﺗﺧﺻﺻﺎً ﻓﻲ درﺟﺔ‬ ‫اﻟﻣﺎﺟﺳﺗﯾر ﻓﻲ ﻛﻠﯾﺎﺗﻬﺎ اﻟﺗﻲ ﺗﺷﻣل ﻛﻠﯾﺎت اﻟﻌﻣﺎرة واﻟﻔﻧون واﻟﺗﺻﻣﯾم‪ ،‬اﻵداب واﻟﻌﻠوم‪ ،‬اﻟﻬﻧدﺳﺔ‪ ،‬واﻹدارة واﻷﻋﻣﺎل‪ .‬وﺗم ﺗﺻﻣﯾم ﻫذﻩ اﻟﺑارﻣﺞ ﻟﻣواﺟﻬﺔ ﺗﺣدﯾﺎت ﺑﯾﺋﺔ‬ ‫اﻷﻋﻣﺎل واﻟﺻﻧﺎﻋﺔ اﻟﺗﻧﺎﻓﺳﯾﺔ واﻟدﯾﻧﺎﻣﯾﻛﯾﺔ‪.‬‬ ‫وﻛﻣؤﺳﺳﺔ ﺗوﻓر ﺗﻌﻠﯾﻣًﺎ ﻋﺎﻟﯾﺎً ﻧوﻋﯾًﺎ ﻓﻲ اﻟﻣﻧطﻘﺔ‪ ،‬ﻓﻘد ﺣﺻﻠت اﻟﺟﺎﻣﻌﺔ اﻷﻣﯾرﻛﯾﺔ ﻓﻲ اﻟﺷﺎرﻗﺔ ﻋﻠﻰ اﻟﺗرﺧﯾص وﺑارﻣﺟﻬﺎ ﻋﻠﻰ اﻻﻋﺗﻣﺎد ﻣن ﻫﯾﺋﺔ اﻻﻋﺗﻣﺎد اﻷﻛﺎدﯾﻣﻲ‬ ‫ﺑوازرة اﻟﺗﻌﻠﯾم اﻟﻌﺎﻟﻲ واﻟﺑﺣث اﻟﻌﻠﻣﻲ ﻓﻲ دوﻟﺔ اﻹﻣﺎارت اﻟﻌرﺑﯾﺔ اﻟﻣﺗﺣدة‪ .‬ﻛﻣﺎ أن اﻟﺟﺎﻣﻌﺔ اﻷﻣﯾرﻛﯾﺔ ﻓﻲ اﻟﺷﺎرﻗﺔ ﻣﻌﺗﻣدة أﯾﺿﺎً ﻓﻲ اﻟوﻻﯾﺎت اﻟﻣﺗﺣدة اﻷﻣﯾرﻛﯾﺔ ﻣن ﻫﯾﺋﺔ‬ ‫اﻟﺗﻌﻠﯾم اﻟﻌﺎﻟﻲ ﻓﻲ ارﺑطﺔﻣﯾدل ﺳﺗﯾﺗس ﻟﻠﻛﻠﯾﺎت واﻟﺟﺎﻣﻌﺎت وﻣن إدارة اﻟﺗﻌﻠﯾم ﻓﻲ وﻻﯾﺔ دﯾﻠوار‪.‬‬

‫الجامعة األميركية في الشارقة عضو كامل في المجلس العالمي لعمداء كليات‬ ‫الھندسة‬ ‫حازت الجامعة األميركية في الشارقة على عضوية كاملة في المجلس العالمي لعمداء كليات الھندسة وھو من أوائل منظمات‬ ‫الھندسة التي تشمل إدارات كليات الھندسة حول العالم‪ .‬صرح بذلك اليوم الدكتور توماس ھوكستيتلر مدير الجامعة بالوكالة‪.‬‬ ‫وأعرب الدكتور ھوكستيتالر عن سرور إدارة الجامعة للحصول على ھذه العضوية الكاملة‪ ،‬وقال إن الجامعة باعتبارھا جامعة‬ ‫رائدة في منطقة الشرق األوسط و شمال أفريقيا‪ ،‬تعمل دائما بدأب للوصول إلى أعلى المراتب‪ ،‬وإن االعتراف بجھود الجامعة‬ ‫ومكافئة معاييرھا األكاديمية من قبل منظمات مرموقة كالمجلس العالمي لعمداء كليات الھندسة أمر يدعو إلى الفخر‪ .‬وأضاف‪،‬‬ ‫"بصفة كلية الھندسة في أميركية الشارقة ھي أكبر كلية ھندسة في الدولة‪ ،‬فإنھا أفضل مثال يشير إلى ما يمكن ألميركية الشارقة‬ ‫تقديمه ليس فقط لطالبنا بل في أوساط العمل عامة وھذا جزء من رؤيتنا االستراتيجية"‪.‬‬ ‫ويضم مجلس عمداء الھندسة العالمي ‪ 120‬عميدا من ‪ 40‬بلد تقريبا‪ ،‬وھو مستمر في النمو السريع‪ .‬وتعمل المنظمة كشبكة عالمية‬ ‫من عمداء الھندسة وتسعى إلى زيادة التأثير الجمعي ألعضائھا بغية تقدمھا ولتشجيع دراسة الھندسة وأبحاثھا‪ ،‬ولخدمة المجتمع‬ ‫العالمي‪.‬‬ ‫وقال الدكتور ليالند بالنك‪ ،‬عميد كلية الھندسة االنتقالي وممثل أميركية الشارقة في المجلس " بحصول الجامعة على ھذه العضوية‬ ‫فإنھا ستحظى بالمزيد من التقدير والشھرة في المنطقة وفي العالم‪ ".‬وأكد الدكتور بالنك أن كلية الھندسة في أميركية الشارقة اھتمت‬ ‫اھتماما كبيرا منذ انشائھا بحصول برامجھا على االعتماد الدولي والتنافس مع أفضل البرامج حول العالم‪.‬‬ ‫ويذكر بأن برامج البكالوريوس في كلية الھندسة حاصلة على اعتماد ابيت )‪ (ABET‬وھو مجلس اعتماد برامج الھندسة‬ ‫والتكنولوجيا في الواليات المتحدة األميركية‪.‬‬
