Astoria hotel Central Station, Copenhagen Analytical translation The house, the city and the body space Astoria hotel is a meeting of functionalism and man in the modern time, where speed is a current term. The analysis explores the building’s tectonic, i.e. how the reinforced concrete allows the buildings placement, its slender body and its protrusion. Astoria is that last subsection which encloses the central station yard - the central room i Copenhagen where people are in continuous movement, back and forth, in and out of the city. The building merges physically with the existing history, as the structure is weighted towards the central stations grave foundation. The analasis is focused on exploring the hidden meetings of Astoria’s construction, which is the crucial and forceful elements that gives the building its identity. I also explore Astorias intense and wondrous intersection with the historical grave foundation and the buildings repetitive structure. In this manner the invisible becomes visible, and ones perception of the building becomes real.

The house in the dense city Apartments, Vesterbro, Copenhagen The revocation of the military demarcation line in 1852 launched a major expansion of the surrounding district, which earlier had remained as an open terrain surrounding the Copenhagen fortification. The city development happened over a short period of time, and the population increased dramatically. From 1840 to 1901 the number of residents rose from 1.711 to 65.564. The city development was mainly controlled by private initiatives. Narrow and long identical side streets are a characteristic trait of Vesterbro. A desire was a fragmentation of the dense structure, where the quarter remain as a public walk-through space and the resident are staging wishes through layers. The house in the city The house as a society of rooms that are being examined in relation to the city, the quarter and the individual building. At the same time the facade is studied as a building component, that constitute the houses face and transition to the city. A relationship between section and entirety, and room and structure. To create a structure: Addition - Subtraction Adaptation of part and entirety where layers and depth are being examined as open and closed, accessible and closed, transparent and visible. A structure which arises as the depth which are being explored, and the details which compiles the story with the ’crooked / unclean’.

Fire enviromental facade condions: Glass trippel low e-coating, solar control, thermal insulation Vertical columns solar control, privacy External intemal: Horizontal blinds: Allows a vertical movement to control solar access, which is adjusted by the user from each apartment. The blind acts as a layer which prevents the direct light, but it enters indirectly. Curtans: Solar control and comfort quality. The part of the users identity.
The Architechtural skin The structure should be understood as a space for transformation The structure with the glass becomes the architechtural skin of the house, which regulates the microclimate, at the same time the user plays a significant and active part in the controlling of the facade/structure and the dynamic elements which regulates the atmosphere, light, air and privacy in each apartment and in the individual rooms. The columns, also explained as the frame, work as a shelter for the users and allows daylight to penetrate into the room, most often in an indirect way - when the light hits the column and then reflects into the building. The column creates a private atmosphere that gives the users a sense of privacy despite being in a transparent structure. Daylight is a strong factor in the everyday life of the users, and I chose to work with elements that could create a balance between direct and indirect light to create quality and comfort in the inside space. The four strong elements that allows the facade to become transparent, is the dynamic between; triple layer glazing, column structure, outdoor blinds/ screen and the textile curtain. I will describe the glass facade/ structur as a ÂŤbreathingÂť layer/frame. It gives an extended quality to the building beyond its requirements. I translated it to various conditions; the glass facade becomes an element that allows as much daylight as possible. As well as facilitating the requirement for a varying light. The glass facade is self-supporting, but it is a part of the main supporting structure of the building. The column as carrying element connetcts/attach the facade physical together to the internal structure. In cooperation with layers of materials, the glass facade provides quality in sustainable terms, and creates interesting room sensations. The facade becomes a dynamic structure.

Common house in a complex landscape Atelier, Amager Faelled, Copenhagen
The worlds inner creature and nature is change Herakilt Amager Faelled constitutes the largest part of the Northwestern section of Amager, which is an island that is part of Copenhagen municipality. The Faelled is a conservation and recreational area which in the 1930s and 40s was drained for use as a military shooting ground. Due to the military presence lasting until 1947 the Faelled remained largely undeveloped, and is therefore today defined by a large green area. Thus it still provides a sense of rural tranquility and untouched nature, despite its location within the capitals limits. Amager Faelled - a perception A piece of land of complex spaces. Defined by different elements. The vegetation, water, the open area - layers of substantivity. The elements visualize transitions and boundaries. The location in a direct transition from the city room, makes the site unique and distinct, and the history that underlies the faelled makes the place interesting and distinctive. 1:3000 Amanda Lyngesen

Atlier The space is illuminated with a workshop/atelier, as the sites character is peace, stillness and change – to become. It`s a place you can unfold and discover. A place where different people meet – known/unknown through adaptations.

The house is attached with the porous terrain, where the water is the slit in the front and the vegetation fathoms the back. Raised above the ground the house stands with a outer construction of solid wood, where the column grips the the beam and the line draws a history vertically and horizontally that poses the inner structure of the room
Its constant and regular rhythm allows the mechanical play, where the door is the change through a transparent transition. The column meets the foundation markedly in its interlacement with the shelf.
This is an important grip for the building, the fact that it stands conscious of the terrain. As well as gingerly against the places spirit; the rural tranquility and unspoilt nature - in its meeting with the ground.

The body Unsteadily A interpretation, study and exploration of the body. The bodys overarching divisions are being conveyed through a perception of the dynamic between balance and imbalance in time. A path where the bodys axes emerge and are being conveyed as standing, imbalanced and falling through repetition of simplification. The integral dissemination constitutes a force where we sense how the body meets the room, and conversely. The body struggles through the course.
