SUPERVISION

This old construction is probably from the end of 19th century. The project is reinforcing its walls and its foundation to return housing use to this well located building.

The idea is to conserve the escence of the ancient neigborhoods in México but with contemporary elements, the project includes a new level with amenities in a way that is invisible from the street view, to respect the facade and the urban context.

ARCHITECTONIC AND CONSTRUCTION SUPERVISION

This restoration includes a new level and a complete reorganization of the spaces. Originally it had 1 commercial space and 1 living per tower. Now it has 1 commercial space and two livings with their own terraces in each one of the six towers of the building.

The intervention won a mention on the Bienal contest in México on 2018. The wall nishes, concrete and blacksmith details were a good complement to the wood and brick original materials, the result is a contemporary spaces that respect the original building.

The main elements that de ned the morphology of the pavilion were the existing vegetation and the idea of having open spaces, with the intention that bridges and ramps conected the di erent spaces. The bridges also were used to conect the levels aronud the lake with the roofs of the pavilion.

The pavilion were de ned for 3 circles of enough size to reach the di erent uses , each o of the three circles are di erent inside and outside.

ETHOBOTANICAL GARDEN AND PAVILION

The “Chimallí” Ethnobotanical Garden were designed for an architectonic contest organized for Mexico city, is a project that invites you to know and learn more about the ethnobotanical culture of the place, together with an intervention in Zone II of the Chapultepec Forest, to achieve greater pedestrian communication. We achieve this through di erent elements, a pavilion that invites you to know more about the region and its origins and allows you to look from another perspective with its terraces, a part of the research that will contribute to scienti c development, the zoning of di erent species of native plants of the place scattered throughout the area as part of the ethnobotanical program and nally, pedestrian paths that intend to make it easier to move to other areas.

This project is placed in the currently parking lot of the Polimi campus in Mantova city, its context is completly historic, and the spaces contemplated were an Exposition/Multifunctional hall as the main space, lobby, cafetería, administration o ces, workshop spaces and services.

One of the chllenges was to set the main axes, the faciades and how to connect the functions with the currently building, the proposal set as main faciade the one faceing the museum Palzzo di Arco, leaving a big piazza that let apreciate the full context, due the transparency of ground oor´s walls is possible to look through the building and nd the little courtyard and passage that are very common in the urban accomodation of Mantova. The three main volumes are the Foyer with Exposition and cafeteria, over the exposition area was placed a massive volume that gives a double hight, and the higer volume is the workshop space in the rst oor.
