Rosebud Cattle Company

Bull Sale

6th annual

3-20-26 7 pm cst

We genuinely appreciate you taking the time to evaluate this set of bulls. Whether you’re a repeat customer, neighbor, fellow breeder, or simply looking for something to pass the time while scrolling the internet, we’re glad you stopped by.

Build, longevity, predictability, and maternal prowess are not suggestions in our program—they’re requirements. Everyone in this industry understands the financial commitment it takes to run cows today, and with what calves are worth at the sale barn, it only makes sense to invest in cattle backed by something proven. That’s why cow families remain the backbone of our operation. Our goal is simple: offer bulls that provide real word performance backed by genetics capable of producing the kind of daughters you’ll be proud to keep.

We operate with a no-nonsense philosophy, or as we like to call it, the Good Method. Good built, good doing, good uddered, good footed, good looking cattle with a good disposition—backed by a good cow family. That kind of cow never goes out of style and will keep a cattleman in business regardless of market cycles or production goals.

While many of you know us for marketing females equipped for the show ring, the reality is we run a practical, working cow herd. With roughly 70 cows and plans to grow each year, every calf matters. Located on the edge of the Flint Hills in central Kansas, our cows are expected to work for a living— for nearly nine months of the year they are grazing, starting on native grass in the summer before transitioning to corn stalk crop residue leading into calving season. That environment doesn’t allow passengers. Our cows must be functional, productive, and capable of performing across a wide range of commercial programs. If they can’t do that, there’s no reason they need to be shown in the first place.

We encourage you to study the set and make plans to evaluate them on or before March 20th. We’d enjoy the opportunity to visit with you anytime. While we may be within our first decade into the bull business, we understand that trust is earned—and we intend to earn yours.

Enjoy the cattle,

Zane & Allison Ward

welcome

When investing in a herd sire, there are many criteria to consider as that one bull acquisition can impact a program for nearly 20 years when females are retained. It is important to emphasize the maternal strength that stands behind the bulls that you turn out, as they have the ability to change the trajectory of your cowherd. We are pleased to welcome you to the Rosebud Cattle Company 6th Annual Bull Sale! The team at Rosebud Cattle Company has assembled one of the premier multi-breed donor arsenals in North America, focusing on skeletal quality, real-world performance, eye-appeal and genuine shape. These cattle, regardless of breed affiliation, are built to last. They have the maternal stability and predictably that you can hang your hat on!

Our industry has experienced some of the very best times over the past couple of years. With all classes of cattle experiencing record-setting prices every week, it seems. The cow/calf operator is sitting in the driver’s seat, the backgrounders and cattle feeders are getting their due finally as well, and if it can hold long enough to run over into the harvest and fabrication side, things should be good for the unforeseeable future. Of course, the demand for our exportable product must stay in place, and all points indicate that it should as the demand for the safest and densest consumable protein source continues to rise. The ranchers and cattlemen within the boundaries of the United States are some of the most determined and mindful to continue to produce a product of consistency, palatability, and integrity, and so the quest to tie into the next class of genetics is at an all-time high as well. The desire to inject the perfect blend of end-product yield and marbling is also at a record high due to the premiums that become associated at harvest. It’s truly the satisfaction of knowing that we (U.S. beef producers and feeders) are responsible for the one thing that most people of the world prefer to consume and enjoy as they do.

We promise that this set of bulls will meet the standards of most commercial ranchers and registered breeders alike. Zane Ward continues to source the best sire prospects and donor females available in order to annually improve the product that is offered in Abilene, Kansas. We hope that you can join us on March 20th for the 6th Annual Rosebud Cattle Company Bull Sale LiveOnline with CCi.Live. If you should have any questions or need further details on the offering, please reach out to Zane, Allison, or any of the Innovation AgMarketing team. We look forward to visiting with you about this powerful offering!

Enjoy the cattle,
