The Alliance Française de Nairobi has grown into a centre of excellence for French language courses for all sections of the society and an active cultural centre, with a monthly programme of activities showcasing local and international Arts, facilitating creativity and promoting intercultural enrichment. A journey of 70 years makes it the oldest Alliance Française in the East African region and one of the largest on the African continent. The Alliance Française institutions form the world’s largest cultural network, with 834 Alliance Française spread over 132 countries around the world.

70th CELEBRATIONS
The main 70 th anniversary celebrations will be concentrated in the month of September and comprise of activities initiated by the Alliance Française that have left an indelible mark on the Kenyan cultural and educational landscape.
Kenya Art Panorama The Alliance Française galleries have over the decades hosted hundreds of exhibitions by Kenyan artists, solos and group, many of who have gone on to gain international recognition. For aspiring Kenyan artists, an exhibition at the Alliance Française often represents a mark of confidence in their career trajectory. A Kenya Art Panorama exhibition will bring together a selection of Kenyan artists who have exhibited in the Alliance Française galleries over the years.
Spotlight on Kenyan Music A music concert featuring musicians from the Spotlight on Kenyan Music project that traversed the country over a period of 10 years; identifying, accompanying and recording musicians representing Kenya’s diverse musical traditions.
Francofun Quiz To coincide with the annual Lire en Fête activities, and along the lines of the televised Francofun Quiz competition that ran from 2005 to 2007, a French quiz competition targeting Kenyan high schools, will be organized over a period of three days with prizes being awarded to the top schools.
Classical guitar concert in the renovated Wangari Maathai auditorium Following renovations to the Wangari Maathai auditorium programmed in August 2019, a classical guitar concert by the award winning, charismatic French guitarist, Thibault Cauvin, will mark the unveiling of the renovated auditorium.
