SHOP DINE GUIDE

WELCOME TO LOWER MANHATTAN

In Lower Manhattan, the food, drink and shopping scene continues to evolve with the same energy and ambition that have defined this neighborhood for centuries. Whether this is your first time exploring Lower Manhattan for America’s 250th birthday celebrations or the FIFA World Cup 2026, or you’ve called it home for years, our Shop Dine Guide is your invitation to discover just how much variety is packed into our streets.
World-renowned chefs like Marcus Samuelsson, Wolfgang Puck and Daniel Boulud (just to name a few) have helped define the area as a global dining destination, while hundreds of independent restaurants, cafés and bars continue to add layers of local flavor. You may have noticed the latest wave of buzzy openings, including spots like Leonessa, Lucky Tiger and Peck Slip Social, bringing fresh energy and new ideas to the oldest neighborhood in New York City.
At the Downtown Alliance, supporting local businesses is at the heart of what we do. Which is why, alongside the essential services we provide every day, we produce this
guide to help you decide where to eat, drink and shop in Lower Manhattan. Below Chambers Street, in what we call "the world in one square mile," you’ll find a remarkable mix of cultures, cuisines and concepts shaped by neighbors from every borough and every corner of the globe.
Golden Mall, the beloved Asian dining hall in Flushing, Queens, just opened a six-story space on Broadway with dozens of food stalls, an Asian grocery market and even an arcade.
Fashion-forward folks know that Printemps’ U.S. store is the only place you can find more than 400 exclusive French brands in one spot downtown, all under one Art Deco landmarked roof at One Wall Street. The store also houses Maison Passerelle, Salon Vert and the Red Room Bar, which offer beautiful dishes and drinks to match the stylish spaces.
Gitano NYC, which began in the jungle of Tulum, has quickly become a downtown dining and nightlife hotspot. If retro arcade games and a cold beer are more your vibe, check out Barcade's largest location in the city, now open on Cortlandt Street. More than 80 games, including Centipede, Atari Basketball and Pac-Man, will help you lower your stress levels and maybe even earn a high score.
Whether you’ve been here one day or 30 years, a new favorite is always waiting to be discovered in Lower Manhattan.
Enjoy!

ABOUT US

Founded in 1995, the Alliance for Downtown New York is the business improvement district for Lower Manhattan south of Chambers Street. Our mission is to provide service, advocacy, research and information to advance Lower Manhattan as a global model of a 21st-century central business district for businesses, residents and visitors.
We do this by supporting commercial tenancy; promoting and sustaining the tourism, technology and retail sectors; and acting as Lower Manhattanʼs authoritative research and information source. Our operations team strives to make the neighborhood safe, clean and welcoming. We provide free public transportation, offer homeless outreach, maintain public spaces, empty hundreds of garbage and recycling receptacles daily, clear snow off of sidewalks, remove graffiti and repair streetscape amenities. Our public safety officers work with the NYPD to keep crime rates among the lowest in the city. The Alliance is dedicated to making Lower Manhattan a thriving and enjoyable place for all.
