Nacogdoches Main Street Save the date - Wine Swirl 2027! Mark your calendars! Wine Swirl 2027 returns to Downtown Nacogdoches on Saturday, April 10, 2027. Planning is already underway for another evening of great wine, delicious food, live music, and shopping in the heart of downtown. Stay tuned for theme announcements, ticket information, and more details in the coming months. Brick Street Burger Batte The Brick Street Burger Battle returns this fall, bringing another season of one-of-akind burgers and friendly competition to Downtown Nacogdoches. From September 11 through October 25, participating restaurants will serve specialty burgers created just for the challenge. Customers will rate each restaurant they visit and help decide who will earn the title of 2026 Burger Battle Champion.

Friday Update Nacogdoches Historic Sites Historic Sites staff are gearing up for a busy fall season! Preparations are underway for returning programs, annual favorites, and other activities across our historic sites. Thursdays in the Garden returns to the Durst-Taylor Historic House and Gardens in September. Designed for families and children, the program offers hands-on activities and opportunities to learn and explore in the historic gardens. Looking further ahead, the Historic Skills Fair returns to Durst-Taylor on Saturday, November 7, with demonstrations of traditional skills and trades. November will also bring back the cherished Loblolly Model Train Display at the Nacogdoches Railroad Depot, a longtime holiday favorite for visitors of all ages. There will be plenty of programs and activities along the way, and staff are looking forward to a full fall season at Nacogdoches Historic Sites!

As the library prepares to migrate to a new circulation system, customers are encouraged to contact the library to ensure their library cards are updated. Customers should bring their library cards to ensure a smooth checkout during the migration period. We are able to issue new library cards, but there is a limit of one new library card per family during this transition period. The Friends of the Nacogdoches Library will hold their rummage sale on Saturday, August 22nd from 11am to 2pm. The weekly Citizenship Classes resume August 25th and 26th. Anyone preparing for their naturalization interview and exam is welcome to attend. No registration is required and students may join anytime.

Friday Update Public Works Public Works crews are currently clearing the leaf route in Zone 10 and the brush route in Zone 12. Citizens can still haul their brush and bagged lawn debris for unlimited free dumps to the City Landfill located at 4602 N.W. Stallings Dr., with their City of Nacogdoches issued water bill and ID/DL showing proof of residence. Brush & Yard Waste Pickup • Tree limbs and brush shall be stacked on street right-of-ways, or within 3 to 6 feet of the curb or street. o Stacks shall not exceed 6'L X 4'W X 4'H and be limited to three piles. o The maximum diameter of the largest limb shall not exceed 12 inches in diameter. o Brush must be stacked in front of the residence that generated the brush. o Brush placed on vacant lots or in the streets will not be picked up. o Limbs should not extend into the roadway. Bagged yard waste o Bagged yard waste collection is "ONLY" available for residential addresses. o Bagged yard waste shall be placed within ten feet of the edge of the roadway for collection. Yard waste must be properly bagged. o The city will only collect 20 bags per residence per week. o Bagged Yard Waste may also be disposed of at the City landfill, for no charge, provided that the: -Resident provide current copy of water bill & drivers license as proof of residence.

Join us for a Push-In Ceremony to Welcome our Newest Fire Engine You're invited to take part in a time-honored fire service tradition: pushing a new fire engine into its bay. The custom dates back to the days of horse-drawn apparatus, when firefighters returning from a call had to unhitch the horses and push the equipment back into the station by hand. Today, departments across the country carry on the tradition to honor that history, and we'd like you to be part of ours. Be among the first to see this engine in person. Fall sports registration is ending. Girls youth volleyball late registration concludes on Sunday. Youth volleyball evaluation day will be Monday August 24th at 7pm. Fall adult coed softball games begin next week. Fall adult coed soccer registration will conclude September 8th. Teen Night for ages 12-17 is next Friday August 28th at 6:30pm. Free to participate, must preregister. Join us for karaoke, games, nerf battle and more!
