Public Works crews are currently clearing the leaf route in Zone 15 and the brush route in Zone 4.
Citizens can still haul their brush and bagged lawn debris for unlimited free dumps to the City Landfill located at 4602 N.W. Stallings Dr., with their City of Nacogdoches issued water bill and ID/DL showing proof of residence.
Brush & Yard Waste Pickup
• Tree limbs and brush shall be stacked on street right-of-ways, or within 3 to 6 feet of the curb or street.
o Stacks shall not exceed 6'L X 4'W X 4'H and be limited to three piles.
o The maximum diameter of the largest limb shall not exceed 12 inches in diameter.
o Brush must be stacked in front of the residence that generated the brush.
o Brush placed on vacant lots or in the streets will not be picked up.
o Limbs should not extend into the roadway. Bagged yard waste
o Bagged yard waste collection is "ONLY" available for residential addresses.
o Bagged yard waste shall be placed within ten feet of the edge of the roadway for collection.
Yard waste must be properly bagged.
o The city will only collect 20 bags per residence per week.
o Bagged Yard Waste may also be disposed of at the City landfill, for no charge, provided that the:
-Resident provide current copy of water bill & drivers license as proof of residence.

Upcoming Drainage Project - Summer Hill Neighborhood
Construction is scheduled to begin the week of August 3 on the Summer Hill Drainage Improvements Project. The contractor will begin mobilizing to the area and will begin construction once materials are delivered to the site.
Construction will take several months and will include installation of new storm pipe and inlets along both streets in the subdivision to tie into the existing outfall at the west end of the subdivision. Local traffic will be accommodated throughout the duration of construction however motorists may experience delays and should plan departures accordingly.

Nacogdoches County and the City of Nacogdoches are updating the Nacogdoches County and City of Nacogdoches Hazard Mitigation Action Plan (HMAP or Plan) The Plan Update will address hazards that affect the area.
The goal of the Plan Update is to minimize or eliminate the long-term risk to human life and property from known hazards through effective mitigation. Public input will help the planning team analyze potential hazards affecting residents and recommend possible actions to reduce their impact.

Police Department
The Nacogdoches Police Department will host its Teen Academy on Tuesday, August 4, 2026, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. The academy is designed to provide young people with an educational and engaging opportunity to learn more about law enforcement and public safety. The academy will be limited to 25 students. Topics covered will include law enforcement hiring practices, impaired driving, distracted driving, vaping awareness, firearm safety, cell phone and social media safety, and S.W.A.T. operations.
The Nacogdoches Police Department Teen Academy is intended to give students a firsthand look at various aspects of law enforcement while providing insight into the responsibilities, challenges, and career opportunities within the profession Students interested in participating in the Teen Academy may request an application by contacting Sergeant Brett Ayres at ayresb@nactx.us. Applications may also be picked up at the Nacogdoches Police Department, located at 312 W. Main Street. Completed applications may be submitted by email to Sergeant Ayres or returned to the Nacogdoches Police Department. Applications will be accepted until all 25 spaces have been filled.
Summer is wrapping up and Fall is just around the corner. Today was the last day of Rec Summer Camp. Between our gymnastics and ninja camp, twirling camp and themed Rec camp we had 339 kids attend camp this summer. Happy Back to School.
Fall sports are open for registration. Girls youth volleyball and adult coed softball are currently open for registration. Adult coed soccer registration begins Monday August 3 . Volunteer coaches are needed for girls youth volleyball. rd
