Visit Nacogdoches has continued welcoming incoming SFA students and their families during SFA Orientation by tabling at orientation events and providing guided bus tours of Nacogdoches to showcase all the community has to offer.
We also recently launched our new Nac Summer Sips series, which takes place every Friday in July and August from 12–5 pm. The series features rotating local drink vendors on the downtown square, giving both visitors and residents another reason to explore downtown throughout the summer.

Celebrate America’s 250th anniversary with Star-Spangled Storefronts!
Downtown businesses will decorate their windows with patriotic displays throughout July, and the community will vote for their favorites. Explore downtown, enjoy the creativity, and help choose the winners.

Brick Street Burger Battle
The Brick Street Burger Battle returns this fall, bringing another season of one-of-akind burgers and friendly competition to Downtown Nacogdoches.
From September 11 through October 25, participating restaurants will serve specialty burgers created just for the challenge. Customers will rate each restaurant they visit and help decide who will earn the title of 2026 Burger Battle Champion.

Nacogdoches Public Library
The library’s summer reading programs continue with outreach programs and partnerships. The library celebrated a special America 250 Storytime at local coffee shop, Dilly Dally. Dozens of people attended this outdoor event.
Library staff also held an America 250 Paint Party for adults. The event was a lot of fun and was featured on KTRETV.
The Nacogdoches County Humane Society also presented its first installment of the Remarkable Creatures series. Each Friday in July, they will bring animals for the community to learn about. This week’s event featured reptiles.
Nacogdoches Public Library
The library will host a special ribbon cutting ceremony for its new parent workstation. This is a collaboration between SFASU’s Family-Friendly Initiative for a grant from Better Together Nacogdoches. Everyone is welcome to the event on July 15 at 11am. Attendees will also see the other changes in the children’s department. th
The library will also participate in a live webinar featuring Paleontologist Dr. Aki Watanabe. Audiences will get to ask about dinosaurs, new discoveries, and ask about being a paleontologist. The event is July 15 at 12:30pm. The event is free, but registration is requested.
th Applications for the Online High School Program funded by a grant from Rural LISC will open next week. Interested persons can visit the website at nactx.us/library to apply. Public Works
Public Works crews are currently clearing the leaf route in Zone 15 and the brush route in Zone 16.
Citizens can still haul their brush and bagged lawn debris for unlimited free dumps to the City Landfill located at 4602 N.W. Stallings Dr., with their City of Nacogdoches issued water bill and ID/DL showing proof of residence.
Brush & Yard Waste Pickup
• Tree limbs and brush shall be stacked on street right-of-ways, or within 3 to 6 feet of the curb or street.
o Stacks shall not exceed 6'L X 4'W X 4'H and be limited to three piles.
o The maximum diameter of the largest limb shall not exceed 12 inches in diameter.
o Brush must be stacked in front of the residence that generated the brush.
o Brush placed on vacant lots or in the streets will not be picked up.
o Limbs should not extend into the roadway. Bagged yard waste
o Bagged yard waste collection is "ONLY" available for residential addresses.
o Bagged yard waste shall be placed within ten feet of the edge of the roadway for collection.
Yard waste must be properly bagged.
o The city will only collect 20 bags per residence per week.
o Bagged Yard Waste may also be disposed of at the City landfill, for no charge, provided that the:
-Resident provide current copy of water bill & drivers license as proof of residence.

Nacogdoches County and the City of Nacogdoches are updating the Nacogdoches County and City of Nacogdoches Hazard Mitigation Action Plan (HMAP or Plan) The Plan Update will address hazards that affect the area.
The goal of the Plan Update is to minimize or eliminate the long-term risk to human life and property from known hazards through effective mitigation. Public input will help the planning team analyze potential hazards affecting residents and recommend possible actions to reduce their impact.

The Power of Community - In May, members of our local Rotary Club helped add a new railing along a portion of the Lanana Creek Trail that was damaged during a flood. Projects like these remind us that great parks are built through community partnerships and volunteer support.
