It was a busy week for Visit Nacogdoches!
On Wednesday, we welcomed the Cypress Baptist Church Senior Group (approximately 60 guests) from Houston for a daytrip to Nacogdoches On Friday, Visit Nac was in full force at SFA Orientation, with staff at the Resource Fair and giving bus tours of Nacogdoches to parents and students

Downtown businesses will decorate their windows with patriotic displays throughout July, and the community will vote for their favorites. Explore downtown, enjoy the creativity, and help choose the winners.

Brick Street Burger Battle
The Brick Street Burger Battle returns this fall, bringing another season of one-of-akind burgers and friendly competition to Downtown Nacogdoches.
From September 11 through October 25, participating restaurants will serve specialty burgers created just for the challenge. Customers will rate each restaurant they visit and help decide who will earn the title of 2026 Burger Battle Champion.

Junior Engineer Days at the Nacogdoches Railroad Depot
This week, we kicked off our Junior Engineer Days at the Nacogdoches Railroad Depot. Every Thursday in June and July, we offer hands-on crafts and activity stations that help children and families learn about the history of railroads and their impact on our community.
This week, Brandi Cartwright of Eversong Music led the children in a fun sing-along session. The morning was filled with music, creativity, and play, and we enjoyed welcoming a new generation of visitors to experience the historic Railroad Depot.
Annual Nacogdoches Summer Scavenger Hunt
The Summer Scavenger Hunt is officially underway! This collaborative program brings together museums, historic sites, and attractions across Nacogdoches to encourage both local residents and visitors to explore everything our community has to offer.
Participants can travel from site to site, answering questions and discovering unique stories, exhibits, and experiences along the way. The scavenger hunt is a fun way for families, friends, and visitors of all ages to learn more about Nacogdoches while supporting the many organizations that help preserve and share our community's history, culture, and natural resources.

Customers can track their reading and program attendance on the ReadSquared app to become eligible for weekly prizes throughout the sumer and for the grand prizes at the end of the summer! Reading throughtout the summer school break is the best way to ensure kids retain the valuable reading skills they acquired in the previous school year.
As part of the day’s events, the library will also host a Futbol (Soccer) Jersey Exchange in anticipation of the FIFA Men’s World Cup! Bring your jersey or other team paraphernalia to trade with our futbol enthusiasts. The event is free and no registration is required.
The library staff thanks the members of Newcomers & Friends for their recent donation of $4,000 to the library for improvements in the children’s department.

Public Works crews are currently clearing the brush route with one truck in zone 13 and one in zone 18.
Citizens can still haul their brush and bagged lawn debris for unlimited free dumps to the City Landfill located at 4602 N.W. Stallings Dr., with their City of Nacogdoches issued water bill and ID/DL showing proof of residence.
Brush & Yard Waste Pickup
• Tree limbs and brush shall be stacked on street right-of-ways, or within 3 to 6 feet of the curb or street.
o Stacks shall not exceed 6'L X 4'W X 4'H and be limited to three piles.
o The maximum diameter of the largest limb shall not exceed 12 inches in diameter.
o Brush must be stacked in front of the residence that generated the brush.
o Brush placed on vacant lots or in the streets will not be picked up.
o Limbs should not extend into the roadway. Bagged yard waste
o Bagged yard waste collection is "ONLY" available for residential addresses.
o Bagged yard waste shall be placed within ten feet of the edge of the roadway for collection.
Yard waste must be properly bagged.
o The city will only collect 20 bags per residence per week.
o Bagged Yard Waste may also be disposed of at the City landfill, for no charge, provided that the:
-Resident provide current copy of water bill & drivers license as proof of residence.

National Trails Day is next Saturday June 6 . In honor of this day recreation will be hosting a trail clean up day. Volunteers can meet staff at 10am at the Shofner Loop Trailhead parking lot located off of University Dr., directly across from Maroney Dr. Bags will be provided. th
