Celebrate America’s 250th anniversary with Star-Spangled Storefronts!
Downtown businesses will decorate their windows with patriotic displays throughout July, and the community will vote for their favorites. Explore downtown, enjoy the creativity, and help choose the winners.

Brick Street Burger Battle
The Brick Street Burger Battle returns this fall, bringing another season of one-of-akind burgers and friendly competition to Downtown Nacogdoches.
From September 11 through October 25, participating restaurants will serve specialty burgers created just for the challenge. Customers will rate each restaurant they visit and help decide who will earn the title of 2026 Burger Battle Champion.

Library joins Historic Sites for Juior Engineer Days this week
This week Emily, Library Program Coordinator, hosted a Story Time during this weeks Junior Engineer Days.
Children enjoyed a craft, activity stations, and listening to an wonderful narration of “The Little Engine that Could”
Historic Sites receives grant for Very Victorian Christmas Program
The Very Victorian Christmas Dinner has become an annual event that allows guests to experience the traditions of a Texas Victorian Christmas. In addition to sharing local history, the program provides an opportunity for community members to gather and spend time together during the holiday season.
Thanks to a grant from Junior Forum and the support of their volunteers, Nacogdoches Historic Sites will be able to keep ticket prices at an accessible level. This support helps make the event available to more community members while also supporting programming at the SterneHoya House.
History & Crafts for the Texas Blueberry Festival at the Durst-Taylor this Saturday
The library staff held several programs during the first week of the Unearth a Story Summer Reading. Participants enjoyed a sewing class, the everpopular Touch-a-Truck, movie night, book club and storytime! It is not too late to sign up and track reading and program attendance by visiting nactx.us/library.
The second week of summer reading will feature Super Tuesday: Dinosaur Dig, Dinosaur Trivia Challenge, and citizenship classes.
The library staff be part of the Juneteenth Festival on Saturday, June 20 at Festival Park. The event is from 10am to 1pm. th
Public Works
Public Works crews are currently clearing the brush route with one truck in zone 4 and one in zone 15.
Citizens can still haul their brush and bagged lawn debris for unlimited free dumps to the City Landfill located at 4602 N.W. Stallings Dr., with their City of Nacogdoches issued water bill and ID/DL showing proof of residence.
Brush & Yard Waste Pickup
• Tree limbs and brush shall be stacked on street right-of-ways, or within 3 to 6 feet of the curb or street.
o Stacks shall not exceed 6'L X 4'W X 4'H and be limited to three piles.
o The maximum diameter of the largest limb shall not exceed 12 inches in diameter.
o Brush must be stacked in front of the residence that generated the brush.
o Brush placed on vacant lots or in the streets will not be picked up.
o Limbs should not extend into the roadway. Bagged yard waste
o Bagged yard waste collection is "ONLY" available for residential addresses.
o Bagged yard waste shall be placed within ten feet of the edge of the roadway for collection.
Yard waste must be properly bagged.
o The city will only collect 20 bags per residence per week.
o Bagged Yard Waste may also be disposed of at the City landfill, for no charge, provided that the:
-Resident provide current copy of water bill & drivers license as proof of residence.

Running of the Blueberries
We're so excited to host the 15th annual Running of the Blueberries 5k, 10k, 1 mile run as a part of the Texas Blueberry Festival! Runners will start at Pecan Park and then run portions of the beautiful Lanana Creek Trail. The proceeds from this years run will go towards trail maintenance and improvements.
Picnic in the Park - July 2nd
Join us for a Picnic in the Park to kick off the America 250 celebrations in Nacogdoches! Nacogdoches Parks and Recreation and Nacogdoches Law Enforcement Foundation are excited to add this day of family fun to start off your Independence Day weekend. This event is proudly sponsored by Eaton! We will have sports, games, and giveaways, and you will be able to join our Nacogdoches Police and Fire Departments for Hot Dogs with your Heroes!

Trail Clean Up
To celebrate National Trails Day, Nacogdoches Parks and Recreation teamed up with Excel ER for a trail clean up day! Volunteers from Excel ER, along with community volunteers, met at the Lanana Trail North trailhead to pick up trash and mark hazards in preparation for the Running of the Blueberries Run this Saturday.
