This Saturday, May 2nd, the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) of Nacogdoches will host an American 250 Exhibit Kickoff at the Charles Bright Visitor Center at 10am All members of the community are invited to attend! Afterward, come inside and enjoy the exhibits celebrating America's 250th Birthday.

Lunch Hour Learn Series kicks off May 5 with Historic Marker Restoration th
Have you seen a historic marker that could use some care and wondered how to properly restore it?
Bring your lunch and join us for the first session of our Lunch Hour Learn Series on Tuesday, May 5th at 12:15 PM at Zion Hill (324 N Lanana St ) As part of Historic Preservation Month, this program will offer a hands-on look at marker preservation
Dr. Perky Beisel, representing the Nacogdoches County Historical Commission, will walk attendees through the recommended tools, materials, and step-by-step methods established by the Texas Historical Commission for safely refinishing historic markers.
Water and cookies will be provided. We hope you’ll join us for this informative and practical program!
This program is free and open to the public.
Crash at Crush Tickets Reminder
Tickets for Crash at Crush are now available. Reserve your seat online at Eventbrite.com, or purchase tickets in person at Zion Hill in the next couple of weeks (Wed-Sat 10am-4pm).

The painting and other udpates to the Children’s Department are still ongoing. A selection of library materials is available at the front of the library.
Due to the painting in the library, the Tuesday Citizenship Class held class at El Monkey Loko. It was a great opporunity to go out into the community to let them know about library services. We are very appreciative of the owners to allow us to meet there!
The library will join Nacogdoches ISD at First Baptist Church for the annual Dia de los Ninos event on Saturday, May 2 . This free is from 11:30am to 1:30pm. The Friends of the Library has sponsored the book giveaway for this event. Everyone is welcome! nd

Public Works
Public Works crews are currently clearing the leaf route in zone 4 and the brush route in zone 2.
Citizens can still haul their brush and bagged lawn debris for unlimited free dumps to the City Landfill located at 4602 N.W. Stallings Dr., with their City of Nacogdoches issued water bill and ID/DL showing proof of residence.
Brush & Yard Waste Pickup
• Tree limbs and brush shall be stacked on street right-of-ways, or within 3 to 6 feet of the curb or street.
o Stacks shall not exceed 6'L X 4'W X 4'H and be limited to three piles.
o The maximum diameter of the largest limb shall not exceed 12 inches in diameter.
o Brush must be stacked in front of the residence that generated the brush.
o Brush placed on vacant lots or in the streets will not be picked up.
o Limbs should not extend into the roadway. Bagged yard waste
o Bagged yard waste collection is "ONLY" available for residential addresses.
o Bagged yard waste shall be placed within ten feet of the edge of the roadway for collection.
Yard waste must be properly bagged.
o The city will only collect 20 bags per residence per week.
o Bagged Yard Waste may also be disposed of at the City landfill, for no charge, provided that the:
-Resident provide current copy of water bill & drivers license as proof of residence.

Celebrates Graduates of Citizen’s Police Academy
This week the Nacogdoches Police Department celebrated its newest graduates of the Citizen’s Police Academy. The course spans 10+ weeks and introduces the participants to every aspect of police work, including investigations, traffic patrol, arrests and much more, and is vital in strengthening the trust and connection between NPD and the community.
County Attorney John Fleming was the guestspeaker for the event.

This week for Corporate Challenge City staff competed in Volleyball, and Speed Puzzle. The City’s Speed Puzzle and Volleyball team’s both received 2 place. City teams also tied for 5 place in Speed Puzzle. Tomorrow will be the last events for Corporate Challenge, Mud Run, Washers and 5K. The City is currently still in 3 Place overall behind CBTX and Eaton. The City has 1 team in Mud Run, 5 Washers teams and the 1 5K team. Good luck to our teams!
