Community Happenings

The 2026 Nacogdoches Wine Swirl benefited from some beautiful weather and was a rousing success in downtown Nacogdoches last weekend! Many thanks to the hard work of City staff, vendor staff and local restaurant employees to make this a special event for the participants!

Check out the Pineywoods Youth Rodeo at the Nacogdoches County Expo Center on April 18-19. Find more info here. Also taking place at the Expo Center on Saturday, April 18 is the Spring Brewfest event, where guests can taste local beer, wine, mead and ciders. Find more info on that event here.

This week Visit Nac staff met with members of the El Camino Real de los Tejas - Caddo Region to promote the 16th Annual Sale on the Trail, happening May 1st and 2nd from Nacogdoches, TX to Natchitoches, LA.

Staff is busy preparing for and promoting the Blueberry Festival weekend! The CVB is assisting the return of the Blueberry Bluegrass Concert in the Park on Friday night before the Blueberry Festival. See the attached flyer and make plans to attend both great events!

Hotel Occupancy is up 21.5% for the year-todate, and up 8% for the last 12 months.

Municipal Court

Warrant Forgiveness Program

The Nacogdoches Municipal Court is offering a warrant forgiveness program. Through this program, all warrant fees will be removed when a citizen voluntarily contacts the court to pay a minimum of onehalf the total amount due and start a payment plan for the balance owed. Anyone that chooses to pay their fine and court costs in full will save an additional 20% off the fine amount The court will also offer assistance to individuals that may not be able to pay half down or pay in full to work out an agreeable action plan. This program will be available February through April. Anyone that comes to the court to resolve their outstanding warrants will be given safe harbor.

What an incredible night at the 2026 Nacogdoches Wine Swirl!

From the wineries and restaurants to our vendors, sponsors, downtown businesses, musicians, volunteers, and everyone who came out to sip, shop, and stroll the brick streets thank you for making this event so special!

This event truly takes a village, and we ’ re so grateful for the support that continues to make Wine Swirl one of our favorite nights of the year!

Because of you, we ’ re able to continue investing in downtown through beautification projects, events, and more. We loved seeing Downtown Nacogdoches full of life, laughter, and celebration We're already counting down to Wine Swirl 2027! Now, what theme should we do?!

Save the Date: SFA String Concert at Zion Hill on Tuesday, May 5th

Join us on Tuesday, May 5th at 7:00 PM for a free evening of music at Zion Hill Baptist Church Historic Site, featuring talented student string musicians from the Stephen F. Austin State University School of Music.

Crash at Crush Tickets Reminder

Tickets for Crash at Crush are now available. Reserve your seat online at Eventbrite.com, or purchase tickets in person at Zion Hill during operating hours, Wednesday through Friday from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM, or during the first two Saturdays of each month. Seating is limited, so we encourage you to secure your spot soon.

Public Works

Public Works crews are currently clearing the leaf route in zone 15 and the brush route in zone 16.

Citizens can still haul their brush and bagged lawn debris for unlimited free dumps to the City Landfill located at 4602 N.W. Stallings Dr., with their City of Nacogdoches issued water bill and ID/DL showing proof of residence.

Brush & Yard Waste Pickup

• Tree limbs and brush shall be stacked on street right-of-ways, or within 3 to 6 feet of the curb or street.

o Stacks shall not exceed 6'L X 4'W X 4'H and be limited to three piles.

o The maximum diameter of the largest limb shall not exceed 12 inches in diameter.

o Brush must be stacked in front of the residence that generated the brush.

o Brush placed on vacant lots or in the streets will not be picked up.

o Limbs should not extend into the roadway. Bagged yard waste

o Bagged yard waste collection is "ONLY" available for residential addresses.

o Bagged yard waste shall be placed within ten feet of the edge of the roadway for collection.

Yard waste must be properly bagged.

o The city will only collect 20 bags per residence per week.

o Bagged Yard Waste may also be disposed of at the City landfill, for no charge, provided that the:

-Resident provide current copy of water bill & drivers license as proof of residence.

NIGHT PAVING - Nacogdoches

Nighttime paving operations on US 59 Business (BU 59)/North Street in Nacogdoches is ongoing

This is a continuation of the mill-and-inlay project that began in 2025 when BU 59 between State Highway 21 (SH 21) and State Loop 224 (SL 224) was repaved Work during this phase will occur between SH 21/Main Street and SL 224/N. Recreation Department

This week for Corporate Challenge City staff competed in Kickball. Tonight and tomorrow is the Bowling tournament where 5 City teams will be competing against 43 other teams. The City is currently still in 3 Place overall behind CBTX and Eaton. Next week is the the completion of Kickball, Table Tennis, Scrabble, Mixed Pickleball, Mixed Mini-Golf and Golf tournaments. Good luck to our teams!
