Nacogdoches Historic Sites

Nacogdoches Historic Sites hosted several excellent programs over the past month. Richard Orton graciously premiered his documentary Raise Your Head Up at Zion Hill.

The first screening received such an overwhelming response from the community that a second screening was quickly added to accommodate additional attendees.

Friends of Historic Nacogdoches, Inc. also hosted a presentation by Linda Reynolds, Director of the East Texas Research Center. Reynolds shared insights about the Robinson Photo Collection and the many years of work dedicated to cataloging, preserving, and digitizing this important regional archive.

Historic Sites staff also participated in the Black History and Culture Expo at McMichael Middle School. During the event, staff shared information about the City’s Historic Sites and provided updates about the future exhibit planned for Zion Hill.

We are grateful to our partners in Lufkin for inviting Nacogdoches museums and historic sites to participate in the Homeschool Hop, a day dedicated to highlighting the educational resources available to homeschool families.

This past Thursday, we welcomed many new visitors who discovered our museums through Homeschool Hop Day and enjoyed learning more about the history and educational opportunities offered at our sites.

The Nacogdoches Dog Park has undergone some fantastic improvements!

Expansion: The park has been enlarged, providing more space for our furry friends. New Amenities: Expect new picnic tables, benches, and equipment to arrive in the coming weeks.

Updated Layout: The sides have been switched! The area that was once designated for small dogs is now the Large Dog side

We’re thrilled to offer more room for both large and small dogs to run and play freely! Clear signs are available for easy identification of each side.

We will have our roll off dumpsters set up in the park where you can just drive in and unload your items, as long as you have help for unloading.
