This fashion phenoimena lesson is explain the history of fashion, starting from when clothes were not yet formed to how clothes appeared. Apart from fashion, it also explains buildings and artistic movements according to each era.

In this explanation there are 12 eras that explain the development of fashion. then explains the comparison between past and present in each era. This history lesson is a good lesson to learn about history in the world of fashion. PRE HISTORY

Prehistoric are the times before written history began, so there are no written remains regarding human life at that time This prehistoric period had a much longer and longer time span in the history. In this era, ancient humans still wore clothes that came from animals. The primitive clothing usually consists of the loincloth, the skirt, and the primitive tunics and that the basic division by shape are closely related to the two basic texture like skins, hides, and furs or woven vegetable and animal fibers To cover the top they made a T-shaped piece of clothing then put the two together using shoulder straps and side seams, and to cover the bottom they also used a long cloth shawl, (rab skirt) which was wrapped around and wrapped with rope. or they can use animal fur to cover their bodies. For accessories and weapons, they make from animal bones or animal teeth The rope they use to tie their clothes comes from plant fibers Apart from clothing, this era also made its own dwellings, such as from tree branches, tree fibers, wood and also from large animal bones.

ANCIENT ROME

Rome colonized its neighboring countries to expand its territory, namely the Etruscans. Rome copycat Greek, therefore many other words are similar. Apart from that, Rome also imitated food and clothing. ANCIENT GREECE

The Greek nation is a Latin nation. Before the existence of the ancient Greeks, there was the Minoan civilization. People in this era have begun to develop from previous times, they already wear clothes made from cloth, no longer wearing leather or animal fur The characteristic of the Minoan people is that they have curly hair, men from childhood wear it like a belt to have a small waist so that their shoulders look bigger. because in that era a small waist and big shoulders were used as the beauty standards of that era, the smaller the waist shape, the more attractive it would look in the eyes of women of that era Men's clothing only uses wrapped cloth or men's skirts called perizoma. for women who also have curly hair, wear something like a bolero crop that only reaches above the chest so it is open, and wear an A line skirt with layers that cover the entire leg. Minoan women did not have to wear belts to reduce their waists. Minoan people are physically very strong, have creative works made from terracotta clay The Minoan people were able to make clothes that were constructive or other names, cut or sewn. Clothing in the Greek nation can be worn by women or men. Like the tunic in ancient Greek times, it was the peplos or chiton. This peplos or chiton has 2 different types, namely doric chiton (vertical shaped) and ionic chiton (horizontal shaped) Doric chiton which extends downwards and has a camisole or draped neck shape, wavy naturally due to the influence of the sides of the shoulders which are joined together using a rope as well as the side seam, after which a belt is worn at the waist. while the ionic chiton is a fabric that extends to the side, joining it with other fabric with a rope to form a circle for the neck to enter, which is straight and not wavy to unite the side seams using rope to close them. The result is that the side is left with strands of fabric and the length of the garment is only half the length and doesn't reach the bottom. then wear a belt around the waist too.

EARLY CHRISTIAN BYZANTINE

Gothic is a dark age that is synonymous with bold and dark but as time went by, this gothic era started to use other colors and not always dark colors This era has clothing characteristics that are like large dresses and billowy from the upper body to the sleeves and also they make their dresses or clothes by adding various kinds and shapes of accessories so that they don't just look plain and black. Gothic men still have a flamboyant style by wearing a large, thick outer jacket. This outer can be used by flamboyant men and royalty women. The outer worn by men has 2 types of outer, the first is the outermost outer and the coat is used on the outermost outer. the two outer areas are called cape/houppeland. then apart from men, women also wear it like an outer and the shape is tighter so that it shapes the body and is also longer until it touches the floor This outer is called cotehardie houppelande has 2 types, namely bastard hauppleand and houpplelande a mid jamb. The difference between the two is the outer length. bastard hauppelande is long to touch the floor while hauppelande a mid jamb is only long to mid cuve lenght. men also wear tight leggings called hose. Gothic is also a distinctive feature because it uses clothing that is very different from other eras, namely using sideless gowns. used by men and women where the shape of the line or curve of the sleeve is very large, only the fabric remaining covers the middle of the chest, and the chest is exposed, therefore women who wear this clothing use the inner part of the dress the length reaches the floor and slightly forms the body

while men use it in pieces. and men don't add inner parts because they deliberately expose part of their muscles to attract women's attention.

Nowadays, many women wear headdresses which have various shapes and types. like the henin, a cone-shaped headdress like a birthday hat, the difference is that the henin is taller then the toque, a hat that looks like a beanie and is taller used by royalty men then the headdress worn by royalty women has a round shape above the ears to cover the ear area like headphones nowadays. and has accessories on the forehead and transparent cloth on the back of the head. Apart from that, there is also a shape like a heart shape, this headdress is called crispinette. for higher barbettes. Then in this era there were 3 types of clothing worn by men and women. namely clothes that are made by sewing, called cyclass, then clothes that are made from loose or fallen material and don't use any method, just put them on, called herigaut, the last is clothes that use straps or bands to fasten the garment on the sides of the clothes, called tabard In the Gothic era, when they were at war, they had armor that was identical to their era namely clothes that are chained and made of iron, the material is thick and stiff, the color is grayish silver with the original color like iron. This clothing is believed to be strong and can withstand sharp weapons during war. also has a head covering made of the same material, namely using an iron chain and weight. this clothing is called hauberk or burnie. For hair, men nowadays use hair styles with bowl cuts. Older men usually have a hairless circle at the top of the back of the head. Therefore, Jews made hats inspired by the Gothic era they also use several accessories to be used on the outer, they decorate it, such as a collar shape on the neck and also layers on the hem, for the neck on the outer it doesn't stick, while for underwear the decoration sticks like there are layers on the cuffs, hem and neck, this decoration is called castellade/ folliated/dagged which is inspired by cluvy.

RENAISSANCES

Renaissance is reborn the renaissance era is an era where men are stylish or look flamboyant from their clothes. in this era there are clothes such as outer wear that are long to touch the floor and this outer is rectangular in shape inspired by opelang, namely simmare or chamara. in addition, in this era women and men wear large clothes or large sleeves and on the puff there are decorations such as slash or slit so that the inside of the clothes, namely chemise, is visible. the puff is called slit and puff or slash and puff in this era also used chemise for inside clothes or inside the mantle the shape is like a shirt then for the outer they use an outer like a doublet, used by men and women royalty this doublet is made of stiff, tight and short material and the hemline is high. this doublet is sleeveless like a vest today. then on the sleeve there is a small wing shape on the shoulder and attached to the doublet, namely basquine, the shape is like a wing and the silhouette is like a crescent moon. Men in this era also wore robes that were short and asymmetrical in shape. This robe has a strap to fasten it at the waist. This robe is worn by royalty called mandilion. Then the women of this era also have the characteristic that the hats they wear are wide and wide This hat was worn by royalty women during the Renaissance Women use this hat to look more beautiful and attractive this hat is called ferroniere In renaissance era men used peding on the male part so that it stood out and this was attached to leggings or melon hose. called a codpiece. This codpiece was made of cloth and men used this because it was believed to prevent cheating on other women. women in this era used dresses with a square neckline dress so that the upper chest of women was visible and gave a sexy impression to women in this era to attract men. they also used a standing collar on the back of the neck of the

BAROQUE ROCOCO

The first baroque era for men to wear heels or high shoes with pointed tips. Another name for baroque is horse rider. In this era they also use chemise or long shirts which are usually used as undergarments. This shirt is worn by both men and women royalty at that time. In the baroque era there is a collar that they use. The collar has no feat. so the shape is wide. usually called a flat collar and at that time, they usually use doublets for men, the shape is like a vest or sleeveless vest and for women, the shape of the doublet is like a tied corset both have a size that is long to the waist. both women and men wear undergarments on their clothes called casoek. for headdress, they use high wigs. usually used by the upper class or royalty. because of they short, so they also wear wigs as a complement to look tall and dignified. and at that time, wigs were popular among the upper class especially with curly hair so they called them periwigs men use a tie-like affle called jabot Cravate is a scarf attached to the chemise to keep warm and tied around their necks. Canons are pants that have some decorations like ribbons or flowers used by royalty men. and the pants worn by men also have several shapes, namely round, oval, and culottes. these pants are called petitcoat breeches. because this era is horse riding therefore they have boots that have large folds on the top of the color white and the folds on these boots are for the corset on the legs. these boots are called jack boots. while the folds that come out of the cuffs of clothing that are attached to the surtouts or folds on the part like the cuff are called wide turnback cuffs. for the military has a place to put their swords that are shaped like a sash or like a sash the place for the sword is called baldric lace or like transparent fabric on the neckline of the royal women's dress is called fichu. in this era there is a doublet that is different from usual, this doublet has a square neckline used by royal women. the neckline is called modestie. in the doublet has 2 layers of doublet surtur namely la modest and la secret. la modest is the outermost skirt while la secret is the innermost skirt the large skirt in this era is called flying gown. while the large skirt that is transparent and wired or is a frame on the dress called bellshape. in addition the back of the woman's dress has a fold on the back that hangs down like a curtain and only in the middle of the back is called watteau pleats. inner using a doublet in this era women like to decorate their coeset by using several accessories such as ribbons called bows ala echelle. parasol, parasol is a decoration or umbrella accessory used by women to avoid sunlight. in this era men also use gloves that are shaped like fingerless gloves that only cover half the hand, and the fingers are exposed. and also in this era women also have other accessories,

namely a small perfume ball that looks like an apple called pomender balls inserted into a small bag that has a long rope so that it can be hung. pomender balls are inserted into the bag called reticulas. both of these items are used as accessories for royalty women in this era.

NEO CLASSISM & REV

This era has many similarities with the previous era, namely the baroque era. There are several similarities, namely fichu, modestie, bow ala echelle, la modest, la secret, reticules, chemise, watteau pleats, cravate, and jabot. In addition, there are several differences from the previous era, one of which is the fontange hair style, namely the hairstyle used in this era with a hair model that is shaped like a fan on the head, high and only a quarter wide. basquiene also existed in the rococo era. basquiene is a sleeve section that has a wing shape attached to the doublet. in this era, women's dresses have 2 different types, namely dresses that are oval on the right and left and make it difficult to walk called robe volante, while dresses that are bellshape or dome shape on women's dresses are called robe batante. in the baroque era there were also umbrellas as women's accessories, for this era there was a difference, namely umbrellas that were smaller in size but had the same name called parasols. for men because of their long hair they used a type of bag that had a small rope to put their hair in then tightened by pulling and tying the rope, the bag was called crapaud. in addition, for headdress hats in this era there were two types that had the same shape, only the way to wear them was in different directions. to wear a hat from above called a tricorne hat and if from the side is a bicorne hat. then in this era there was a men's riding

outfit called a ditto suit this clothing also has another name besides a ditto suit, another name is redingote. the rococo royalty women have a distinctive feature in their headdress that is different from the others. they use a headdress like boning and made of transparent material shaped like a food cover in today's era the headdress is called calash, then in addition to the headdress there are also cars that are inspired by calash which have differences only in cars and headdresses. the shape that is like a food cover in today's era is in cars and is called a cabriolet. besides that they also have a hat that is shaped like a shower cap, namely the dormeuse hat. and bonnet hat a hat that is round at the back until it touches the neck in this era there are communities that aim to restore the flamboyant style to men, and this community is called incroyables.

EMPIRE

In the empire era has a loose and straight silhouette, empire dress is tight at the top and falls at the bottom of the chest women in this era wear skirts below the chest and hang down to almost touch the floor. empire also has sleeves on the doublet that are similar to basquiene, namely cap sleeves, the difference is that they are bigger and do not look like a crescent moon. the shape is like a quarter circular. besides that they also have large and puffed puff sleeves. this empire dress model has many similarities with the greek era because its silhouette is straight and loose, they are almost similar. people in this era use furry cloth to warm their hands, the shape is big. called muffs. clothes worn by women besides loose and plain, they also use like boleros in today's era, which is called eton jacket. men in this era used top hats, men also grew their sideburns to attract women In this empire era, men also rode horses using special clothes for

Women who have a feminine style with nostalgia for previous eras who don't care about body shape don't wear bras and corsets Curvy shape is synonymous with femininity the shape and color give a masculine and feminine impression women wear them like butt pads What is popular in this era is the hourglass which is transparent and contains sand. or hourglass, this is one of the silhouettes of women in the romantic era. like the standard of beauty in this era. There are several types of neckline which essentially reveal the chest shoulders and cleavage exposed There are also various sleeve shapes, including ballon, leg o' mutton (oval), and agoda which has full round sleeves. wearing a corset to shape the body to look like an hourglass. Men's hats in this romantic era were synonymous with tall hats called top hat while the hat used in winter and made from stiff velvet is a bowler they also wear a large and long coat at the back They also have a detachable or adjustable collar for use over a chemise at formal events. Men nowadays also grow their sideburns and take care of them to appear more masculine. A bolo tie is like a cowboy tie which is made of thin material and uses a rope In this tie there is a pin in the middle with the aim of adjusting the tightness of the necklace, it can be adjusted Apart from that, men also have cowboy shirts and cowboy boots. A cowboy shirt is a shirt that has a collar connected to the chemise like a yoke nowadays. while cowboy boots are boots that are tall and stiff. ANCIENT

The Empire era used straight or falling clothes that could be worn by men and women in this era. Usually these clothes have a texture that is similar to pleats. Most of the clothes they wear almost touch the floor. Romans wore clothes that were wrapped using large cloth without requiring stitching. This clothing is used by para ria that exists in this era, therefore Roman men are very covered because they use thick, long cloth, long almost touching the floor, but there are also those that reach the floor.

In this era, the helmets used by men have various types of models. This helmet is used by men to fight as a form of protection for the head area. with having like thick fur on the top of the iron helmet. its shape is flat on the sides and high at the front. Also has like strands of feathers that extend at the back. which looks like a tail on the helmet.

Have similarities in the hair model that stands upright in the middleof the head.

Both attached to the shoulder. Can be used by men too. Both can be used for people who have a certain level. Both are equally wide.

In the past, sash was only for royalty, now other forms of sash can be used by anyone Sash is used by men, now women can wear it too. Sash used to be shaped like a scarf, now there are various shapes that are like sash, such as bags and stoles sash used to be straight, now stoles can be used slanted attaching to the shoulder and waist.

The horned helmets worn by men during war have horns on the helmet, believed to protect against attacks to the head area.
