This critically acclaimed comedy from the folks who brought us Ted Lasso returns, continuing the journey of grieving therapist Jimmy Laird (Jason Segel) as he comes to terms with losing his wife. With the help of his colleagues (Harrison Ford and Jessica Williams), teenage daughter (Lukita Maxwell), former patient (Luke Tennie), best friend (Michael Urie) and next-door neighbours (Christa Miller and Ted McGinley), things are getting better in season three.

In this comedic whodunit from the creator of Derry Girls, a trio of longtime female friends attend the wake of their estranged pal, only to find themselves drawn into a bizarre murder mystery.
The complex and intoxicating relationship between Lucy Albright (Grace Van Patten) and Stephen DeMarco (Jackson White) continues to unfold in this gripping psychological thriller.

The fist time Tyler Perry donned a frumpy dress and grey wig to play Madea was in a 1999 stage play. That led to umpteen movies featuring the feisty gradma — which, collectively, have grossed more than US$600 million at the box office — and, ultimately, a multibillion-dollar empire that includes Perry’s US$280-million Atlanta production facility, where he shoots a seemingly endless stream of film and V projects.
The latest entry in Perry’s pantheon is Joe’s College Road Trip, a Netflix omedy that returns to the Madea-verse, but this time shifts the spotlight to her foul-mouthed, crude, lewd and downright obnoxious brother Joe (also portrayed by Perry).
Joe has been a frequent presence in the franchise, with the raunchy scene-stealer appearing in all but one of the Madea movies. It was back in 2022, while promoting A Madea Homecoming, that Perry fist teased his idea for a standalone movie focused on Joe, telling Variety he felt the moment had come for Madea’s opinionated sibling to step in the spotlight. “I think it’s time for Joe Takes Vegas, because that guy’s out of control,” Perry quipped.
Joe’s College Road Trip
FRIDAY, NETFLIX

In Joe’s College Road Trip, Perry channels Eddie Murphy in The Nutty Professor by playing both Joe and Madea, in addition to Joe’s son, Brian, who asks his dad to drive his son, B.J. (Jermaine Harris), on a crosscountry road trip to college. Joe, however, sees this as an opportunity to teach his grandson some important life lessons as only he can — which results in police chases, shoot-outs, bar brawls with bikers, and even a visit to a brothel.
According to Perry, the hilarity that viewers encounter onscreen is the result of a pretty stressful juggling act. “What happens is I go in as Joe and I’m doing all the jokes with stand-ins,” Perry revealed in an interview with Ebony. “Then I go stand in another spot and I do it as Madea, then I get dressed as Brian and stand in another spot and we have to do it over again. It’s really intense but the end product is pretty damn funny if you ask me.”

Gifted with a plum post-Super Bowl timeslot, this new Canadian drama follows a cop from the wrong side of the tracks as he takes a step over the line of duty to help a childhood friend, only to see it all unravel before his eyes. “Set against the backdrop of a quiet riverside town in the Thousand Islands, officer Henryoland (Arrow’s Stephen Amell) finds evidence linking a case of missing illegal substances to his childhood best friend, Tommy Hawley (Hamza Haq, Transplant), with whom he shares a dark secret,” states the logline. “As Henry embarks on a mission to save his friend, a ruthless British crime family, led by matriarch May Ferguson (Minnie Driver, The Serpent Queen), is also on the hunt for the drugs and Tommy.” When Henry’s plan implodes, his carefully constructed life collapses like a house of cards placing him on a dangerous collision course “with backstabbing criminals, suspicious colleagues, and vulnerable civilians who need him more than ever.”

The Sanderson sisters (Bette Midler, Kathy Najimy and Sarah Jessica Parker) will return, but exact timing is still TBD. A third film in Disney+s goofy fright-fest about three witches returning from beyond the veil to run amok in modern-day Salem is in development; during an October appearance on Watch What Happens Live!, Midler said: “They sent a script, and a lot of it was brilliant. I got very excited, and now we’re trying to figure out what it is and where it’s going to be and how much it’s going to cost and all those logistical things.” At the very least, it sounds like you can expect a shorter wait than the three decades that passed between Hocus Pocus (1993) and Hocus Pocus 2 (2022)!

At present, the adventures of Din Djarin (Pedro Pascal) and his tiny green sidekick Grogu (a.k.a. Baby Yoda) have come to a halt on Disney+, after season three hit the streamer in spring of 2023. The good news?
The Mouse House intends to continue its smash-hit saga at the multiplex, with series cocreator Jon Favreau directing a big-screen instalment titled The Mandalorian and Grogu, currently slated for theatrical release on May 22 of this year. Per the fil’s official synopsis “The evil Empire has fallen, and Imperial warlords remain scattered throughout the galaxy. A friend who works in the local movie business told me that he remembers Gene Simmons starring in a TV series that was shot locally. He can’t remember the name. Can you?
–R.B., North Vancouver
Co-founder of 1970s shock-rock outfit KISS, Gene Simmons is best known — along with his bandmates Paul Stanley, Peter Criss and the late Ace Frehley — for electrifying arenas across the globe with fire-breathing,blood-spitting and pyrotechnics. It’s no surprise that your movie business friend might think Simmons did a series here, as he spent significant time on the set of a locally produced show — but he was never actually in it. What your pal most likely, mistakenly recalls is a drama called Fly by Night, which had a one-season airing on CBS’s early-’90s late-night block “Crimetime After Primetime.”
The male lead was Canadian-born David James Elliott (who would later rise to fame on JAG), who played a

Their small-time operation was called “Slick Air” and its owner was Sally “Slick” Monroe, portrayed by Canada’s own Shannon Tweed — and that is our Gene Simmons connection.
Simmons and Tweed famously married in 2011 during their stint co-starring on A&E reality hit Gene Simmons Family Jewels, but they’d been together for many years prior. While Tweed worked on Fly by Night, Simmons was frequently in town and on set to support her.
Netflix was een to keep this particular trivial pursuit in business, and struck a bargain with studio Sony Pictures Television to air a second season in 2026.
“Pop Culture Jeopardy! captivated an audience with its fun and energetic gameplay, building on the beloved franchise and offering fans an opportunity to test their zeitgeist knowledge,” said Sony’s president of game shows, Suzanne Prete, in a statement. “We couldn’t be more thrilled to be partnering with the exemplary team

After a well-received run on the festival circuit last year, this Canadian-made indie film comes to T, using slow-burn psychological horror, sci-fi and a dash of satire to unpack the complexities of marriage.
Honey Bunch opens on Diana (Grace Glowicki), a woman struggling to recuperate from a devastating accident. As a last-ditch effort to heal her body and restore her shattere memories, Diana’s loving husband Homer (Ben Petrie) takes her to a secluded facility for a regimen of experimental treatments.
Yet as time passes, Diana grows suspicious of not only this “therapy,” but her partner. Feeling less and less like herself — even though everyone insists she’s getting better — Diana starts to question if the man of her dreams has a motive for piecing her psyche back together on his own terms.
The film was directed by real-life couple Madeleine SimsFewer and Dusty Mancinelli, who fell in love while shooting their debut feature, 2020 revenge drama Violation. As SimsFewer told The Hollywood Reporter: “After making our first film, which really dealt with trauma and was very dark, ver painful to make and really delved into the dark recesses of our minds, we wanted to make something that was about love.”
“What really inspired Honey Bunch was wanting to make something about a couple,” she continued, “and wanting to make something about what it means to commit to someone wholeheartedly, and the kind of fear and excitement that all mingle in together when you make that commitment.”

ALFIE ALLEN talks climbing inside the mind of a monster in this poignant U.K. thriller
Q Did you end up diagnosing Rick’s particular psychopathy . . . or would diagnosing him have undermined your ability to inhabit him? How do you play a man who would kidnap a teen and hold her for years?
A He’s a very controlling guy, and to get into his mindset and the psyche of a man like that, I really just trusted in the source material of the book [Hollie Overton’s Baby Doll]. I never really wanted to put an idea of, “This is the way this guy is going to be,” because it’s constantly changing and it could change literally from minute to minute on set.
The location of the “Dollhouse” [where Rick holds his captive] was something that was important for me, physically, to feel like that was my space. That was where he felt most at home and where he felt most comfortable to be this dark, dark version of himself — the real him. That’s why I needed to be in that location for as long as I could before we started filming thee.
Q Is the Rick we see out in public, when he’s still masquerading as an upstanding member of the community, just an act? Or does he actually feel some level of empathy and he’s just really good at compartmentalizing?

AThere were scenes with Jill [Halfpenny], who plays Eve [the victim’s mother], where that’s him keeping up this façade.
There’s another moment which wasn’t originally in the script, but was something I felt needed to be in there more, was the discipline of this man being able to cover his tracks and be at the front-and-centre of the search party — which for me as an actor is interesting to play. There were points when Laura [Way, series director] wanted me to sort of enjoy the deception that required. I wasn’t quite so comfortable with doing it — but we got to know each other by that point, so I gave it a go and it worked.
QStories like this, about a girl’s abduction, have been told in a trashier, tabloidy sort of way. Is it a delicate tonal balance to strike, telling it like this show does — in a less exploitative fashion, showing what Lily (Tallulah Evans) is going through in a nuanced way?
A I think that totally lies in the performances. I remember getting on set the fist day, being with Jill and just knowing, “OK, this is how this story is going to be told — in a truthful, sincere way.” That, to me, was most important to how an audience will react to somebody and the pain of what they’re going through.
Life in suburbia has long been fodder for satire — with many a writer keen to eviscerate its shiny veneer of perfection and delve into the darkness lurking just below. In 1989, a Tom Hanks-led comedy called The ’Burbs did exactly that.
Now, that cult classic gets an eight-part redux starring an actress who knows more than a little something about blending scares and chuckles: NOPE breakout Keke Palmer. Here, she plays Samira Fisher, a new mother who, along with her husband Rob (comedian Jack Whitehall), looks to start the next chapter in her life by putting down roots in Rob’s seemingly idyllic childhood home.
Unfortunately, per the
network’s synopsis, “their quiet life quickly unravels when a mysterious man moves into the house across the street — a creepy Victorian that has been abandoned for over 20 years. After observing suspicious behaviour and learning about local lore, Samira starts suspecting that things are not quite what they seem. Home alone on maternity leave, she finds friendship with a agtag group of quirky neighbours The ’Burbs
who join her in investigatory misadventures that bring them closer to the dark truths about their town.”
That ragtag ensemble includes Girls5eva alum Paula Pell, What We Do in the Shadows’ Mark Proksch and Night Court’s Kapil Talwalkar. All eight episodes of this rib-tickling spine-tingler are available to stream on STACK TV as of Sunday, but the show will also air weekly on W Network, starting Thursday with a twopart debut.

Co-creator of The Mary Tyler Moore Show, co-developer of The Simpsons, and writer-director of such iconic films as Broadcast News and Terms of Endearment, James L. Brooks is nothing short of a living legend in Hollywood. Yet it’s been over a decade since his particular brand of relationship dramedy graced the silver screen — the US$120-million flop How Do You Know. At long last, this past holiday season saw Brooks return with a much more conservatively budgeted flick called Ella McCay — which, alas, still grossed only a fraction of the US$35 million it cost to produce. But now, audiences have a second chance to fall for its modest charms via Disney+.
Sex Education breakout Emma Mackey plays the title character, a 34-year-old lieutenant governor who is unexpectedly promoted when the governor himself (Albert Brooks) resigns. Ella is a driven and good-hearted public servant, but the glare of the spotlight and the ethical turpitude of politics might be more than she can handle — especially given all the headaches that come along with her loosecannon husband (Jack Lowden) and philandering father (Woody Harrelson). Rounding out the cast are Jamie Lee Curtis, Kumail Nanjiani, Ayo Edebiri, and Brooks’ longtime collaborator Julie Kavner (a.k.a. the voice of Marge Simpson!).

sweet streak, Eternity is a spiritual successor to classic romantic screwball comedies that’s worthy of their company.”
Meanwhile, speaking with The Playlist about the movie’s deft, clever handling of relationships, Olsen mused: “What’s so sweet about focusing on Joan and Larry is this idea of ordinary love, whereas with Luke, she’s returned to something she never got to have. I genuinely believe we pick up where we left off with people; if ou haven’t seen someone in 10 years, you often inadvertently revert to who you were the last time you saw them. Joan feels that youthful, excitable love for the fist time in 65 years. It was real and meant a lot, but it’s totally different from the woman she’s become. She’s returned to a youthful part of herself that maybe isn’t who she is anymore — but perhaps it’s something she wants back.”

patiently awaiting news about the upcoming fourth season of The White Lotus, information has finally begun to trickle out. Following the exploits of affluen guests and the staff ho wait on them hand and foot in a luxury resort, the setting of season four has been revealed. With the fist season having taken place in Hawaii, the second in Sicily and the third in Thailand, the fourth will reportedly be set in the French Riviera, posh European playground for the world’s wealthiest.
While the precise location has yet to be confirmed, Variety has reported that filming will tae place at several properties. These are rumoured to include the famed Château de la Messardière in Saint-Tropez, set within 32 acres of parasol pines, cypress trees and jasmine. A suite at the luxurious property costs between US$3,000 and US$8,000 per night (or more), with amenities including a spa, children’s camp and beach access provided via chauffeur-driven Rolls-Royce.
Series creator Mike White (who’ll soon be seen competing in the upcoming 50th season of Survivor) is reportedly working
on scripts for the fourth season; as is the case with all things White Lotus, information about plot and characters is being kept tightly under wraps.
Meanwhile, casting has already been underway, with British comedian Steve Coogan officially signing on Best known for his faux British broadcaster Alan Partridge, a character he’s portrayed since the 1990s, Coogan is also a two-time Oscar nominee, as a writer and producer of 2013 drama Philomena; his other credits include The Trip and its sequels, 2009 satire In the Loop and lending his voice to the Despicable Me movies. Also confirmed or the cast is Caleb Jonte Edwards, a relative newcomer whose few credits include Australian drama series Black Snow. Coogan and Edwards join previously announced cast members Alexander Ludwig (Vikings) and AJ Michalka (The Goldbergs). Helena Bonham Carter (recently seen in Netflixs Agatha Christie’s Seven Dials) and Chris Messina (The Mindy Project) have both reportedly been in negotiations to join the cast, but have yet to make it officia
Few people have managed to harness the power of social media as successfully as Alix Earle. A Miami college student when she began attracting millions of viewers to watch her apply foundation and eyeliner in her “get ready with me” videos, Earle managed to parlay her Instagram fame into a media empire — in fact, she’s become famous for the so-called “Alix Earle effect” in which associating her name with a particular product causes it to sell through the roof.
She’s competed on Dancing With the Stars and hosts a popular podcast, Hot Mess with Alix Earle, and now she’ll be tackling a whole other medium by making like a Kardashian in an upcoming Netflix reality show. Focused on Earle and her family, the series will also include her trendsetting sister, Ashtin Earle, as well as her “vibrant group of friends,” per Netflixs announcement.
Described as an “all-access unscripted series,” the yet-to-be-titled show will shine the spotlight on Earle’s meteoric rise from social media
superstar to wannabe media mogul, “inviting fans into the real-time messiness of a young woman traveling the globe, navigating new relationships, and entering a pivotal period of personal and professional transition” as she begins to write her next chapter.
“Gen-Z’s ultimate It Girl, Alix Earle, is making the next big jump in her career,” gushes the series’ logline. “Can she balance her burgeoning business empire with being that unfiltered, 20-something, hot mess that America fell in love with? Now she’s taking her candid chaos from your FYP [For You Page] to TV . . . and nothing is off limits”
“I share a lot of my life on social media, and people think they know everything there is to know about me and my family, but honestly, there’s still so much more,” says Earle. “We are so happy that the show found a home with Netflix. t its core, this show is about our fun, loving, sometimes chaotic modern family, and how we always show up for each other through it all.”
The saga of aspiring lawyer Elle Woods played out in Legally Blonde and its sequel, Red White & Blonde, both starring Reese Witherspoon Legally Blonde has already spawned a 2007 Broadway musical, and coming this summer is a prequel TV series that tells the character’s origin story during her high school years, with Lexi Minetree cast as the younger version of the character in Prime Video’s Elle.
“Twenty-fiveyears after the world met Elle Woods for the first tim, it’s a dream come true to share the story of how she became the unstoppable force we all fell in love with,” says Witherspoon, whose Hello Sunshine production company is producing the series. “Discovering Lexi Minetree and watching her step
into Elle’s fabulous shoes has been one of the most gratifying experiences of my career. I think our series’ themes of kindness, authenticity, and believing in yourself will resonate deeply with fans of the original films and new audiences alike . . . I can’t wait to share season one with the world and start rolling cameras on season two!”
As Witherspoon mentioned, Prime Video is so bullish on the series that a second season has already been ordered. “Elle captures the heart, confidenc, and optimism that made Elle Woods an enduring cultural icon, while giving audiences a fresh and deeply personal coming-of-age story,” adds Amazon MGM Studios’ Peter Friedlander Elle will be making its debut on July 1.

HOW FAR WE HAVE COME since the early days of Shrinking. In the beginning, there was Jimmy Laird (Jason Segel), a recently widowed therapist who was coping very poorly with his wife’s death, telling his patients what he really thought of them, while drifting away from his teenage daughter Alice (Lukita Maxwell), who sought solace and parental advice next door, from neighbours Liz (Christa Miller) and Derek (Ted McGinley).

Two seasons later, father and daughter have not only rekindled their relationship, but made peace with Louis (Brett Goldstein), the man responsible for the fatal car accident that forever changed their lives. Jimmy has stopped his unorthodox methods of treating patients, but his former patient Sean (Luke Tennie) has become a bona fide member of the Laid family as a result of that period — and moved on to being professionally treated by Jimmy’s colleague Dr. Paul Rhoades (Harrison Ford).
If the theme of Bill Lawrence, Goldstein and Segel’s show was “grief” in the fist season and “forgiveness” in the second, we now are moving forward from the pain in the third. But the future is not without its own set of anxieties. Empty nester Liz is struggling with her purpose in life, Jimmy and Paul’s colleague Gaby (Jessica Williams) is pondering her future at the Behavioral Therapy Center, but perhaps the most pressing issue is that Paul’s Parkinson’s disease is progressing, leaving no one unaffected.
The actions these characters take due to their struggles are messy, they’re emotional — and they’re always funny. “I mean, look at Shrinking. Everything’s sloppy, everything’s intermingling. There’s a

bunch of things that are kind of noisy. There’s a lot of static and grey. In this primordial ooze after grief, things just slide around real easily,” says Tennie. “What they’re trying to do is paint this picture of reality in a fun and goofy way, but also take seriously what it would look like if people commit to these decisions.”
But amid the chaos there are also great strides. For Sean, a veteran who previously was prone to angry

outbursts, Paul has equipped him with ways to cope. “He has tools to face his fears, to handle his anger, to manage his expectations, to make sure that he’s not putting too much on himself, and to also make sure that he can be present for the people that he loves,” says Tennie. This season, Sean really requires these tools when faced with an ex who wants to rekindle their romance. “He really needs to figue out who he is and if he’s ready to move forward,” he says. “He’s gotta make sure that he uses these tools he’s been equipped with, or he could potentially put himself in emotional danger while also putting these people that he loves in emotional danger.”
While Alice is excited about the idea of starting her adult life, she also struggles with the idea of moving forward, and thus away from home. “There’s an excitement about

looking to the future, but, more than being scared of her own future, she’s scared of leaving Jimmy behind,” says Maxwell. “Her biggest fear is pulling the rug out from under his feet. She knows that she is a solid, constant building block in his life, and he is going to go through significant chane when she leaves. She just wants to make sure that he’s steady before she does the big leap.”
But, as in seasons past, progress feels safer in the presence of their chosen family — a group that Paul also finds himself leaning on in a storyline that feels parallel to Alice’s. “There’s a great acceptance from both of their characters of embracing the unknown of the future,” says Maxwell. “I think when one door closes, so many more open, and they both have strength now — and less doubt — about walking through these doors. I think that there’s a reassurance from an internal intuition. There’s a reassurance from Jimmy, for both of them. And there is a reassurance from this greater community of people. So, they’re moving forward.”
Gaby also experiences a need for reassurance in the third season. “She goes through quite a bit, feeling like she lost the game and then ultimately being pushed by her mentor to move forward,” says Williams. “I’m really proud of the Gaby-Paul stuff this season. I think it’s super-tender and sweet. And a mentor-mentee, surrogate father-surrogate daughter relationship is really important to see on TV.” There is one scene with Ford, in particular, that stands out to Williams. “It was like I was looking right into the sun and it was too bright and I needed to put my sunglasses on,” she says. “I remember watching him work and just being

moved where they kind of had to keep jumping in and be like, ‘Hey, you’re really crying,’ and I was like, ‘He’s destroying in there!’ The beauty of acting is that at the end of the day, it’s just listening and believing the circumstances for one to two minutes at a time between Action and Cut. And everything I’m hearing and seeing is real — in this weird version, there are no cameras here.”
If the onscreen emotions feel palpable, it is because of the atmosphere behind the scenes that allows the cast to safely experiment. “This show, I find, eally stretches me as an actor and has made me excited about acting,” says Miller. “I do so much preparation. I know my lines inside and out. I have intentions. I know what I wanna do. And then I throw it out when I get there. You know, Jason Segel’s said, ‘A day isn’t good unless you’ve failed four times’ — which could be crying in a scene where they don’t want crying. We’re all facile at jumping from thing to thing because we have the freedom and the space to do it . . . I learn every day from being with this great group of people.”
For Tennie, when it comes to these relationships, it feels like life
has imitated art. “Sean and Jimmy’s relationship has grown a lot, just like my relationship with Jason. I view him as this wise older brother figue,” he says. “In terms of wisdom and believing in yourself, there is no one in my life who has a better handle on what that looks like than Jason. When we see this connection between Sean and Jimmy, I feel that same older brother arm around me in my own life. It’s really cool to see that come to fruition on the screen.”
This show, I find, really stretches me as an actor and has made me excited about acting . . . I learn every day from being with this great group of people.”

ACCORDING TO A TRAILER for new Netflix omedy whodunit How to Get to Heaven from Belfast, cracking the case at the heart of the show will be “deadly craic” — Irish slang for an experience that is amazing, fantastic and fun.
While that may seem a bit presumptuous, it should be pointed out that this new eight-episode series springs from the mind of Lisa McGee, creator of Derry Girls, the critically acclaimed sitcom that broke viewership records in Northern Ireland and boasts an impressive 99 per cent rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
While that beloved series focused on a group of high school girls during the Troubles in the 1990s, McGee’s latest is set in the present, following a group of female friends who find themseles sucked into a murder mystery after learning some tragic news.
“Clever, chaotic TV writer Saoirse (Roisin Gallagher), glamorous, stressed-out mother of three Robyn (Sinéad Keenan) and dependable, inhibited carer Dara (Caoilfhionn Dunne) have been a tight-knit group since school,” notes the series’

synopsis. “Now in their late 30s, but still as close as ever, these three friends are about to embark on the most thrilling adventure of their lives. When an email arrives, telling them about the death of the estranged fourth member of their childhood gang, a series of eerie events at her wake sets them on a dark, dangerous and hilarious odyssey through Ireland and beyond as each tries to piece together the truth about the past.”
According to McGee, How to Get to Heaven from Belfast fulfilsher long-held desire to create a comedic whodunit. “We got the gang back together — the creative team behind Derry Girls has reunited to bring you How to Get to Heaven from Belfast,” McGee tells Tudum. “This is the show I’ve always wanted to make; a mash-up of my two favourite genres, mystery and comedy. We want to keep you guessing and keep you laughing. I can’t wait for you to meet Saoirse, Robyn and Dara, and go on this wild, weird adventure with them — an Irish odyssey — full of twists, turns and arguments about eyelash extensions.”
McGee continues by sharing that she’s “in awe of this cast, their talent, timing and chemistry.” In addition, she lauds director Michael Lennox for his “simply stunning” work in the show.
“Netflix has been so incedibly supportive of our mad vision,” she adds. “Get ready to piece this puzzle together. And remember — a good friend keeps your secrets, but a great friend helps you bury them.”
Interestingly, Derry Girls is responsible for the genesis of How to Get to Heaven from Belfast, albeit in a roundabout way. As McGee recalled, the idea came to her when she observed her childhood friends while they watched the pilot of Derry Girls, encountering the fictionalized

versions of themselves that she’d created for the fist time. “I started to wonder, what would those kids think about where we are now?” she said in an interview with the Royal Television Society. “Sometimes we get too obsessed with romantic relationships — friendship groups fascinate me,” she added.
Meanwhile, the new series also reunites McGee with Derry Girls star Saoirse-Monica Jackson, who has a top-secret role in the new show, making only a brief (and very mysterious) appearance in the final seconds of the trailer. Jackson, who played Derry Girls ringleader Erin Quinn in the series, told The Hollywood Reporter that she’s “delira and excira” (Irish slang for delighted and excited) to work with McGee again.

“The maestro Lisa McGee is back and I couldn’t be happier that she’s put words in my mouth once again — they are delicious,” Jackson gushed. “I’m so proud to be part of this show and elated to be back working with Lisa. I’m excited for the world to meet the new Jessica Fletcher A-Team and discover the depths of their friendship. It’s a story about the lengths women will go to for each other and Lisa delivers it with all the humour and heart you would expect from a true heavyweight wordsmith.”

Get ready to piece this puzzle together.
And remember — a good friend keeps your secrets, but a great friend helps you bury them.”
THE THIRD SEASON of Tell Me Lies continues to be a lesson in how to spot red flgs in relationships. In the series adaptation of Carola Lovering’s novel, Lucy Albright (Grace Van Patten) and her college friends have all gathered in 2015 for the wedding between Evan (Branden Cook) and Bree (Cat Missal), but it is the group’s actions in 2008 that are still playing out at these nuptials.

It was when Lucy met textbook narcissist Stephen DeMarco (Jackson White) her fist year at Baird College that the dominoes started to fall. Their emotionally abusive relationship led Lucy to make one bad decision after another, but as the second season came to an end, every single person in this friend group had blood on their hands, whether metaphorical or the real deal.
Stephen’s actions in the fist season, covering up his involvement in the death of Lucy’s roommate Macy (Lily McInerny) and allowing Wrigley’s (Spencer House) brother to believe he was the one who killed Macy, ends up emotionally destroying Drew (Benjamin Wadsworth). And when Lucy thought she had that fateful evening figued out, she wrote an anonymous letter to the school administration, asking them to look into Drew’s whereabouts the night of the accident. When it culminates in Drew accidentally overdosing on his brother’s painkillers in the season two final, there are so many finers to point it is hard to know where to start.
Additionally, an agitated Lucy lied about being sexually assaulted by Lydia’s (Natalee Linez) brother, to protect the identity of her friend Pippa (Sonia Mena), which only

resulted in more problems. And, to put a cap on two seasons of poor decision-making, when Stephen found out that Lucy has drunkenly slept with Evan in a moment of sadness over Stephen leaving her for Diana (Alicia Crowder), Stephen decided to leverage that discovery seven years later at Evan and Bree’s wedding.
Moment to moment, these characters are busy hurting each other in ways that seem irreparable. Zoom out for a wider view, however, and series creator Meaghan Oppenheimer’s coming of age drama is about finding oneself in the mids of life’s catastrophes. “Pippa has gone through so much at this point, with the assault by Chris, with Drew dying, with taking care of Wrigley — it’s endless,” says Mena. “She really comes [into the season] caring way more than she can handle and at an emotional intensity and exhaustion level that is really high. We start to see what happens to someone under that much pressure, especially someone that age.”
Diana, Stephen’s now ex, also feels confused about what is happening

in her life, even as her future seems brighter than ever. “Like, I thought that I was going to spend the rest of my life with this guy and now that has all been turned on its head,” says Crowder. “At the very beginning, I feel lucky that I’ve come out of it mostly unscathed, but then I’m confronted with Drew’s death and also my feelings for Pippa, which are unexpected and really confusing. So, it’s complicated.” The viewer knows that Diana and Pippa end up together romantically but in 2008, this relationship is only budding. “It feels so unlikely, but also inevitable at the same time,” says Crowder.
Wrigley, meanwhile, starts season three at rock bottom. “Seasons one and two were a spiral trajectory for him, and he’s going to hit the bottom as his brother dies,” says House. “The only thing he can do is grow up, and I think he does do that. In season three, you see a different version of Wrigley, which is awesome to play. He’s more honest with himself. He’s not putting on the façade of who he wants people to think he is. I always love doing an upwards trajectory of a character, so it was a good change of pace.”
For Evan, having Stephen find out about his one-night stand with Lucy and react so calmly is a relief. But knowing his friend as well as he does, does he really believe this event is water under the bridge? “I think a little bit of him does,” says Cook. “Weirdly enough, and probably foolishly enough, I think a bit of him does want to take Stephen for his word. I don’t know why. I don’t recommend it. But I think he believes in his word and doesn’t really understand what Stephen is putting Lucy through, because of him.” Wrigley is also too preoccupied to think about whether his friend is a bad influene. “I don’t think Wrigley really sees it because he doesn’t know himself. And if you don’t know yourself, you don’t know your friends,” says House. “Whether or not that changes in season three, you’ll have to see.”
While the women on the show see Stephen’s intentions clearly, it does not mean that they are Team Lucy either. “It’s so funny because I feel like we kind of switch places. We both at some point say to each other, ‘How can you possibly defend her?’” says Crowder. “I mean, you kind of attacked my character for just being friends with her,” adds Mena. “And I think during season three when Lucy’s and my friendship is really at a breaking point and I just need anyone to be on my side, you taking her side is such a betrayal.”
What the actors can agree on is that playing the same character eight years apart has been a fascinating challenge. “It’s really interesting to explore their lives deeper,” says House. “It’s like we’re playing the prequel, and it’s fun to be able to learn more about these characters and explore why they do the things they do or how this shapes and

informs their future selves that we already to some extent know.” For Mena, every little choice made in the future is a sign of how they’ve grown. “For example, making decisions with hair and makeup like, this is her actual hair texture, which is a way to show that she’s grown into herself and that she’s accepting herself more,” she says. “And while there’s drama in the future, it’s a relief that at least they’ve made it out alive from all of the chaos of college.”

STARRING Kevin James, Kim Coates, Alyson Hannigan, Nicole Grimaudo, Jonathan Roumie, Julie Ann Emery
Continuing the movie career he launched after The King of Queens, the latest from Kevin James is this romantic comedy in which he plays a guy named Matt whose wedding turns nightmarish when his bride-to-be has a change of heart and dumps him at the altar. Miserable and despondent, Matt decides to stick with his plan, and goes solo on the romantic honeymoon in Rome that he’d already paid for. He meets two other couples who are also on the hotel’s “honeymoon package,” Julian and Meghan (Sons of Anarchy’s Kim Coates and How I Met Your Mother’s Alyson Hannigan), and Neil and Julie (Jonathan Roumie and Julie Ann Emery). His melancholy is broken when he meets a fetching Italian woman, Gia (Nicole Grimaudo), and falls for her hard. As romance blossoms and his time in Italy draws to a close, Matt is faced with a life-changing decision: should he return to the wreckage of what he left behind, or start anew in the Eternal City?

STARRING Madelaine Petsch, Richard Brake, Janis Ahern, Gabriel Basso
In the final chapter in director Renny Harlin’s Strangers trilogy, Maya (Madelaine Petsch) faces the masked killers one last time in a brutal, full-circle reckoning of survival and revenge. In what is described as “the series’ most brutal chapter,” Maya’s collision course with the killers leads her to discover that “the only way out of the nightmare . . . is in.”
STARRING Caleb Landry Jones, Christoph Walz, Zoë Bleu, Matilda de Angelis Director Luc Besson tackles the Bram Stoker classic, following the transformation of Prince Vladimir of Wallachia (Caleb Landry Jones) into immortal vampire Dracula. Four hundred years later, Dracula is in Paris negotiating a real-estate transaction with lawyer Jonathan Harker (Ewens Abid) when he meets his wife Mina (Zoë Bleu). Believing Mina to be the reincarnation of his longdead wife, he brings her with him back to Wallachia.
BY MATT CURRIE
QThere are a lot of reality series that centre on wealthy women in glamorous cities, but here the city feels particularly important. How would you describe Palm Beach to people who are unfamiliar?
A Well, I’m from New York originally. But I have been spending a lot of time in Palm Beach my whole life, because my grandparents lived there. They snowbirded. It’s a very seasonal place.
Palm Beach is old-world elegance, wrapped in sunshine. When I was a little girl, I would say, “When are we going back to Fantasy Island?” I used to call it Fantasy Island!
It’s timeless, it’s not trendy. It’s old wealth. The power players, a lot of them are New Yorkers, but it’s still much different than New York and the Hamptons. When I fist moved to Palm Beach . . . it’s different when you visit there as opposed to actually living there. And when I got involved in the social circle, it was so much different. New York is way more conservative. The events that we go to, I would never dress the way I dress in Palm Beach in New York. I wear pink and feathers. Can you

imagine me dressed like that in New York? Never! That’s just not how we dress in New York. Palm Beach is very, very over-the-top — at the same time as it’s being understated. So, it’s hard to describe. The social scene is quiet yet loud. There’s a lot of rules. There’s a lot of private clubs. There’s a lot of charity galas. And they’re much different than in any other city. There’s multi-generational power. It’s just a rhythm that happens throughout the “season.” From January to March I would say is the peak season, and then outside of the season, it’s very, very quiet.
QWould you say that the blend of old money and new money is part of what makes the city and the show so uniquely compelling?
It’s very fun to observe what has long been a scene defined by inheriance and legacy and surnames and club lineage is subtly, but unmistakably, evolving.
A Yeah, it absolutely is. Because the old guard is changing. It’s not the same legacy as it used to be. It’s a lot of new-money entrepreneurs from all over the place now. It’s very fun to observe what has long been a scene defined y inheritance and legacy and surnames and club lineage is subtly, but unmistakably, evolving.
Q How has that evolution you’re talking about reshaped the way this town’s movers and shakers interact?
into the charity world — just like in the show. So, I can attest to the fact that Palm Royale is a very accurate depiction of the lifestyle in Palm Beach. And I think that our show is the reality version. It really is.
Q This is your first big foray into the reality TV world. Was it an adjustment having cameras around all the time?
A Not really. I love the camera and the camera loves me! . . . Ever since I was a little girl, I knew I wanted to be an actress, a TV star, something in the public, for sure. I know I have the personality and I’m an open book. That’s how you need to be on these reality shows.
Q How did the presence of those cameras affect your relationship wit the other ladies, whom you’ve known for a long time prior to the show? Did being filmed force you all to address the feuds you have head-on — as opposed to dealing with them in a more passive-aggressive sort of way, as you might in “real” life?
A It is now new money meets old money. Palm Beach still reveres tradition, but it’s no longer only about multi-generational wealth. Today’s influene often comes from entrepreneurial success, and that’s what you’re finding in the priate clubs nowadays. There are tech founders, hospitality innovators like myself . . . and philanthropy is becoming more inclusive. That’s what I see that’s most different, because there was a time where you could not get into those philanthropic circles if you were not part of the legacy. But now it’s becoming way more inclusive — where once boards were dominated by a closed roster of names.
Q There’s an Apple TV comedy called Palm Royale, which satirizes life in your neck of the woods — but circa the late ’60s. Have you seen it, and does it feel authentic to the Palm Beach experience?
A Absolutely. And some of it is still like that. There are people trying to claw their way
A That is absolutely true and I did experience that . . . because who would just go on and on about these things if we’re not shooting a show? They are real storylines, but we would’ve just not had time in real life to address the issues head-on. In a way, it’s very therapeutic. It kind of gets you much further along in life.
Debuting earlier this winter, Netflixs reality romp invites us behind the velvet ropes at the country clubs in Palm Beach, Florida, where socialites spend their lives immersed in classy galas and soapy drama. The five ladies at the heart of th show are a mix of old money and nouveau riche — all of them “navigating the unspoken rules, inherited traditions and highstakes hierarchies of America’s most rarefied social circles” Leading the pack is chic, provocative entrepreneur Taja Abitbol.
Q Looking at your journey as an entrepreneur, can you take me back to a time when you had to pivot or course-correct?
A Oh, I’ve reinvented myself career-wise many, many times. I started in commercial real estate, then I got into the restaurant business, then I was in residential real estate. Then I got into the wellness and longevity business. That is the whole thing about being an entrepreneur — you need to know when to adjust, realign yourself and start anew. And I’ve never done a business plan. I get something in my head and I just start it. I used to be well-known for doing these dinner parties and everybody used to tell me, “My God, you should open a restaurant.” So, I was just driving down the block one day, I saw a sign on a restaurant for sale and I bought it. I literally brought a bag of cash the next day.
Then I got into wellness. I was always into wellness because of being in the restaurant business; it’s so draining and I needed to recover hard every day. I would sleep in my sauna, or get IV therapy before anybody even knew what it was. I was doing peptides and NAD [nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide] before people knew what it was. They thought I was crazy injecting myself. So, I’ve been a pioneer in this
The longtime partner of World Series champ turned Yankees broadcaster David Cone (with whom she shares a son), Taja Abitbol has dabbled in real estate, restaurants, a little showbiz and, over the past few years, entered the luxury wellness space — with Miami-based anti-aging centre Taja Drip serving as the hub for her “longevity empire.” A native New Yorker, she moved to Palm Beach six years ago, though she’s visited often ever since childhood. A self-made businesswoman, Taja is billed as “unapologetically direct, unfiltered and allergic to the performative perfection tha defines alm Beach society.” Fun fact: she’s pals with The Real Housewives of New Jersey’s Teresa Giudice, who makes an eye-catching cameo in season one of Members Only.
business. I did not ride the wave. I started the wave. And my goal is to do my own wellness world.
Q Even being well-established in Palm Beach for several years now, do you still feel like a New Yorker at heart? A bit of a stranger in a strange land?
A I did for awhile, but now I cannot even imagine living in New York again full-time. It did take me awhile to adapt, because New York is such a fast-paced place . . . Life is just easier here. I don’t think I could ever live in the winter again, because I’ve always loved the sunshine. And especially, as I’m into wellness, I need the sun and I need the beach every day, because the minerals that you get from the ocean are the best medicine for any human. That’s the biggest biohack — sun and ocean.
But I love New York. I’m a New Yorker. I feel that the biggest flx is being from New York, because it is unlike any other place. And Palm Beach, nobody could stay there all year. Anybody who’s born and raised there and stayed there for their whole life is probably nuts. [Laughs]
Q As we chat today, you’ve only seen the trailer for the show. Have you paid any attention to the reactions that trailer is getting online?
A Honestly, I don’t even have time to look at them, but I did see maybe two comments. Funny enough, a man commented saying that it’s disgusting. The cast is disgusting. He’s lived in Palm Beach forever and none of these women are “Palm Beach.” Just such a hateful comment. Then, the next day, I saw him at Mar-a-Lago, and of course he was like, “Oh, hey, you guys look great . . . blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah.” Then I had to comment back saying, “It was so great seeing you. I hope you enjoy the show” — right under his hateful comments.
It makes me laugh. Listen, if we are striking any kind of emotion in these people, then we’re doing our job right.

They are like very tiny powerplants that produce energy in every living cell of our bodies. On average, every cell has 1,500 mitochondria. Can you imagine that for their extremely small size, it’s been said that they produce, gram for gram, 10,000–50,000 times more energy than the sun?
To say that mitochondria are important to human health is grossly understating their role in our

survival. We literally would not be alive without them. They convert our food into energy, so that every other function of our body can occur as it needs to. As we age, our ability to create healthy mitochondria to support our energy demands diminishes. And because about 90% of our cellular energy is produced by mitochondria, this decline can cause significant health issues
