Hello and Welcome from Dennis, Yarmouth, and Barnstable!
WELCOME TO THE MIDCAPE REGION —where history, heritage, and forward-thinking communities come together across the towns and villages of Dennis, Yarmouth, and Barnstable. Character remains at the heart of the MidCape —woven beautifully alongside new businesses, expanding attractions, innovative dining, arts and culture, and year-round experiences that continue to energize our local economy. Whether you are a year-round resident, seasonal homeowner, returning visitor, or discovering the MidCape for the first time, you’ll find a region that honors its past while thoughtfully investing in its future. Throughout the MidCape, our communities are engaged in a significant, multi-year wastewater infrastructure investment—an essential step in protecting water quality, preserving our fragile ecosystem, and ensuring a healthy environment for recreation, hospitality, and daily life for generations to come. These long-term efforts reflect our shared commitment to sustainability, resilience, and a thriving regional economy.
In 2026, we are also proud to participate in MA250, commemorating the 250th anniversary of the founding of our
nation. The MidCape played an important role in America’s early history—through maritime trade, colonial settlement, revolutionary ideals, and a spirit of independence that still defines our communities today. From historic sites and landmarks to special events and programming, you’ll find meaningful ways to connect with the stories that helped shape our country.
By supporting local shops, restaurants, accommodations, attractions, and services in Dennis, Yarmouth, and Barnstable, you are helping preserve what makes this place special while encouraging its continued growth and vitality.
We invite you to stop by our visitor centers, where you’ll always be greeted with a friendly welcome, helpful recommendations, and insight into what’s new, noteworthy, and not to be missed across the MidCape in 2026.
Enjoy your time here—and thank you for being part of our story!
Warmly, Lois, Marty and Mary

WHERE CreativityMEETS THE COASTLINE
BY SHANNON GOHEEN
ANY SEASONED CAPE CODDER who is familiar and involved with the arts community might tell you that we have “an embarrassment of riches.” Entertainment here goes far beyond the beaches and there’s no need to drive over the bridge for excellence in art, theatre, or museums.
The constant buzz of creative activity means that the action never stops and “there’s nothing to do on Cape Cod” is a complete myth. Have a look at these cultural attractions to expand your awareness, learn something new, or to keep busy when the weather at the beach is less than perfect.
The Cape Cod Museum of Art (CCMOA) is a highly
respected mecca for the arts that bustles with activity. See the special exhibit on Old Yarmouth during the American Revolution and other surprises in the galleries or stroll the grounds and the larger campus (includes the Cape Cinema and Playhouse) to see the Cape Cod Open Sculptural Invitational where 32 sculptures join the 30 sculptures already in CCMOA’s permanent collection. Art programs both for adults and children run throughout the summer and every Sunday at 4 p.m. is Music and More, free to those 21 and under and active military. Visit the well-stocked and curated gift shop, take in one of the summer galas, and experience Cape Cod’s rich artistic history. 60 Hope Lane, Dennis, ccmoa.org

One year short of its 100th birthday, The Cape Playhouse or the “Place Where Broadway Goes to Summer” still beckons visitors and year-rounders alike who seek exceptional theatre. Just a few of many famous folks who have performed here include Julie Andrews, Bernadette Peters, Olympia Dukakis, Bette Davis, Henry Fonda, Betty White, Gertrude Lawrence and Ginger Rogers. The historical theatre holds memories of actors, set designers and crews, and countless patrons who considered this place a must-attend, a place to see-and-be-seen, and an enduring treasure in the heart of Dennis Village. Enjoy drinks on the terrace before the show and explore the charming, iconic gazebo. There are children’s shows, too, and check with the box office before you go because shows can sell out! 820 Main St., Dennis, capeplayhouse.com
You’ll see plenty of appealing and alluring shops when you visit the northside of Dennis, but one in particular offers gorgeous wheel-thrown and hand-built pottery. Gail Turner at Millstone Pottery makes sumptuous, functional stoneware pottery in various forms, all lovely to behold. Her work sings with masterful textural decoration and rich earthy glazes. It’s easy to give into temptation here, to be stopped cold by the beauty of something, and to walk out with an object that will delight the eyes and the fingertips as they caress the artfully glazed surface. 766 Rt. 6A, Dennis, millstonepottery.com
Drive west to Yarmouth Port and in about five minutes, you’ll find a most unusual museum. Even if you’ve never heard of Edward
Gorey, you’ll likely recognize his iconic illustrations, often depicting children in precarious situations and suspicious-looking adults in Victorian garb. After his death in 2000, his house and belongings became a can’t-miss museum appropriately called the Edward Gorey House. Every Thursday at 2 p.m. is the Children’s Story Hour from April through October. Check the website written in Gorey-style wit for reservations, a good laugh, and any information you’ll need to plan your visit. 8 Strawberry Lane, Yarmouth Port, edwardgoreyhouse.org
It’s almost a straight line from Yarmouth Port to South Yarmouth, home of the beautiful and historic Bass River Savings Bank building, reimagined and preserved 25 years ago as the Cultural Center of Cape Cod. “All the Arts for All of Us” is their guiding principle, and they deliver. The galleries feature work by local and national artists, working artists have open studios, there are concerts of all kinds most weekends, plus classes and workshops. Entry to the galleries is free. The Art Barn in Hyannis is the Cultural Center’s year-round interactive children’s art museum at 250 South St., Hyannis. Visit the main campus at 307 Main St., South Yarmouth, cultural-center.org
The Sand Sculpture Trail is a delightfully suspenseful way to see the whole Town of Yarmouth. Now in its 15th year, the always entertaining and awe-inspiring sand sculptures appear at various Yarmouth businesses in May and miraculously hold up to the weather until October. Founded in 1962, the Cape Symphony has grown from a small group of musicians in Chatham into the second-largest professional orchestra in Massachusetts. Its mission is to share the power of music with the community through a vibrant performance season. The Orchestra presents its nearly year-round symphonic Masterpiece Series and CapePOPS! concerts at the
Barnstable Performing Arts Center, bringing audiences together for unforgettable live music experiences. Beyond the concert hall, Cape Symphony Presents (CSP) extends that mission by bringing world-class performers to smaller, more intimate and casual venues across Cape Cod, partnering with organizations like the Chatham Orpheum Theater, Wequassett Resort, Devil’s Purse Brewery, and many more. The Hyannis HyArts Artist Shanties began as a waterfront incubator program with seven shanties and 15 artists. This muchloved initiative has grown to 12 shanties in two locations along the
Walkway-to-the-Sea and supports over 85 Cape Cod artists from May through October. The artists rotate through these shanties each week so there are always new and returning artists. This project has been so successful that it is being replicated around the Cape, state, and country. Visit the Hyannis HyArts Cultural District in downtown Hyannis where these shanties are unmistakable, painted in bright colors and set against a backdrop of outdoor art installations or alongside Hyannis harbor where boats rock and creak against their moorings in the gentle tide. 51 Ocean St. and 180 Ocean St., Hyannis, artsbarnstable.com

OUTDOOR LIFE IN THE MIDCAPE
BY SHANNON GOHEEN
WHEN YOU VISIT THE MIDCAPE, there’s so much more to do besides frolicking on our soft, sandy beaches. Our unique landscape is one-of-a-kind, thanks to glacial action about 18,000 years ago. The melting ice created 890 lakes and kettle ponds (deep holes that once held ice) while revealing this beautiful spit of land we call Cape Cod, surrounded on three sides by salt water. From the mid-17th to the mid-19th century, once-rich soil deteriorated due to over-grazing and deforestation. We recognize the sandy landscape left behind as the native Cape Cod environment, also known as the Atlantic Coastal Pine Barrens ecoregion.
Hyannis, Dennis, and Yarmouth are characterized by pitch pine/scrub oak woodlands, coastal dunes, Atlantic White Cedar swamps, coastal plain ponds with endangered wildflowers, salt marshes, and many more special environments. The salt water around us offers fishing and recreation as well as great birding. And the views! There are so many beautiful vistas, one can’t help but be uplifted while gazing over the water to the sky beyond, from stunning sunsets to the glorious rising sun.
Make some room during your visit to see and experience our natural wonders. For starters, the Dennis Conservation Land Trust (DCLT), headquartered at Not Enough Acres Farm, a former family farm in East Dennis, has maps and brochures of walks you can take around town. You can walk trails that overlook Sesuit Creek and browse items for purchase at their farm store. There are events for families and children, a Rubber Duck Regatta and the Annual Gala and Auction. The DCLT has preserved over 446 acres of uplands, wetlands, and beachfront, with 16 publicly accessible trails waiting for your exploration. 107 Sesuit Neck Rd., East Dennis, dennisconservationlandtrust.org
Dennis Conservation Land Trust’s Rubber Duck Regatta
The MidCape has long been a mecca for bicyclists. It features the paved Cape Cod Rail Trail that winds through woods and wetlands, spans over roadways, and reveals stunning scenery almost everywhere you look. As the name suggests, the Cape Cod Rail Trail follows former train tracks from the New Haven Railroad that brought visitors and supplies to the MidCape as recently as the 1960’s. Stopping to contemplate the beauty of the Cape terrain and its wild inhabitants is simpler and safer on a bicycle. Three great bike shops in Dennis and Yarmouth make it easy to ditch the car and see the MidCape up close and at your own speed.
Both Smugglers and Parker’s Beach are only a mile from and easily accessible to the Palm City Bike Shop, while the Cape Cod Rail Trail is just two miles straight north. Owner Frank DeCosta rents, repairs and sells bicycles so, if you bring a bicycle with you, no fear! He can make sure it stays in top shape. DeCosta enjoys helping the Cape community by refurbishing bikes and adding night lights for those summer workers who depend on bicycle transportation. High quality electric bikes, electric scooters, and pedal bikes are available for rent at reasonable day-rates. Explore his fully-stocked bike store for an even better ride and park free for the day. Open year round at 1055 Rt 28, South Yarmouth, palmcitybikeshop.com
For those looking to combine biking with time on the water, Rail Trail Bike & Kayak Rentals is another great option. Conveniently located near the Cape Cod Rail Trail, they offer bicycle and kayak rentals that make it easy to experience both the scenic trail and nearby waterways. Visitors can learn more or reserve equipment at railttrailbikekayak.com.

Since 1989, Barb’s Bike Shop has been renting electric bikes, mountain bikes, the ever-popular kid’s tandem where kids sit in front, and super-comfy upright bikes alongside the main Cape Cod Rail Trail entrance at Rt 134 in South Dennis. Three generations of Barb Fallon’s family work here in renting, sales, and service, and Barb herself got her start in the business by helping her grandmother rent out bikes in Dennis Port in the 60’s. Walk-ins for service are welcome and bicycle delivery to nearby towns is available upon request. Barb sells her used bikes for half price at the end of the season but from April to December, her highly desirable bikes rent in 30-minute increments, so you only pay for the actual time you cycle. 430 Rt. 134, South Dennis, barbsbikeshop.com
Further along the Cape Cod Rail Trail you’ll find the Dennis Cycle Center offers a wide range of rental bikes, specializing in several brands of electric bikes and sought-after Trex bikes at day and two-hour rates. The team focuses on expert repairs and great customer service, according to owner Matt Van Gelder. There is a bike here for everyone, and if you want to purchase a bicycle, they offer free lifetime adjustments. The Dennis Cycle Center will deliver rentals to just about any town on the Cape and new purchases or repairs can be picked up and dropped off at your home or rental.

The long season of mild weather on the Cape makes for great golfing. The locals are out all year long during our low-snow or snowless winters. But the Cape Cod summers blossom into golf heaven, and we have fun and challenging golf courses in the

Golf Pro Nick Wiseman at the Blue Rock Golf Course was named the 2025 PGA Teacher of the Year. He provides comprehensive lessons and clinics for all ages and abilities and has available state-of-the-art golf simulation technology. The wellgroomed course was once featured in Golf Magazine as “one of
the top ten par-3 courses in the game.” Designer Geoffrey Cornish was given a directive to build the first championship par-3 golf course in the region. It is both approachable for amateurs and challenging for pros. Hole # 9, that starts over water and leads to a kidney-shaped green, is as tricky today as when it was designed in 1962. award-winning courses offering different challenges. Dennis Pines, a par-72, is characterized by tree-lined corridors where accuracy makes or breaks the game. Henry C. Mitchell designed this traditional course that opened in 1966 and has been improved with recent bunker renovations. There is water at four holes, and the 12th hole has the reputation of being a difficult par five. Dennis Highlands is an open, hilly, and scenic par-71 that cuts through native oak/pine woods. With all the lakes, ponds, and salt water around us, fishing is a big draw. To be successful, you need to know where to go and the right equipment is paramount.
For in-shore or off-shore fishing gear, advice, or to hang out with friendly staff, Riverview Bait and Tackle is your go-to fishing supply store. Some of the MidCape’s best attractions are free! There’s something for everyone to enjoy at these family-friendly events, both great fun and both wildly different.
Every Saturday night from Memorial Day through Labor Day from 4-7 PM, the Cape Cod Classic Car Club fills the South Dennis Patriot Square parking lot (Stop and Shop) with lovingly restored classic, rebuilt, and muscle cars. They call this astonishing gathering of cars “Cruise Night.” Each cruise night features a live radio broadcast, often a live band, a 50/50 raffle, free popcorn, free hot wheels for kids, grilled hotdogs on some nights, and a blanket collection for the Animal Rescue League. These folks know how to have fun, and the happy atmosphere is contagious. They raise money through their various activities for charities, provide a scholarship and a toolship yearly, but cruise nights are free. See what

They all played in the Cape Cod Baseball League (CCBL), the premiere collegiate summer baseball league in the nation. This is an unbelievable chance to see potential future Major League stars up close in an afternoon or evening game while you sit on the bleachers, a blanket, or beach chairs. When you are surrounded on three sides by salt water, from Cape Cod Bay to the north and Nantucket Sound on the South, boating becomes a thing. A big thing. Maybe you’ve come to the Cape by boat, or maybe you drove here and want to take in some of the maritime action. Whether you are a mariner or a landsman, you’ll want to check out the Cape’s marinas, including these three MidCape locations.
The Hyannis Marina, one of the most prominent marinas on the east coast, is where you want to be! In this natural, deep-water harbor, Hyannis Marina has 170 slips hosting small boats to world
class mega-yachts and it’s a sight to behold. If you’ve brought your own boat, ask about the rafting parties at Egg Island and visit the best of downtown Hyannis on foot along the Walkway to the Sea or to the shops on Main Street. With or without a boat, try the popular Tugboats or Trader Ed’s for family dining with a view and then Trader Ed’s for the nightlife scene. Owner Wayne Kurker is committed to Hyannis and the local business community, helping to revitalize Hyannis (1977), clearly a spectacular success, and founding the Alliance to Protect Nantucket Sound. 1 Willow St., Hyannis, hyannismarina.com
There’s a hidden treasure on Horsefoot Cove on the Bass River. It’s not obvious from Rt. 28 but the Bass River Marina is well worth searching out. 160 seasonal wet slips, a new model showroom, a ship’s chandlery, showers and changing rooms, and free parking make this full-service marina an accessible adventure. This family-oriented facility also has a restaurant on site, the Summer Shanty, that offers great food with stunning water views for old salts and land- lubbers alike. Sport and fishing boat enthusiasts have easy access to Nantucket Sound and the Bass River Speed Zone. Dream about or buy your next boat at the 2nd Annual Father’s Day Weekend In-Water Boat Show on June 13th and 14th, 9-5 PM and on the 15th, 9-3 PM. 140 Main St., West Dennis, bassrivermarina.com
A man named Charles Henry Davis whose motto was “Good Roads Everywhere!” was the founder of the National Highway Association back in 1911. It could be argued that a good road led directly to his boathouse on the Bass River that in 1928 became a full-service marina called Ship Shops. From the 1950’s on, the marina has been greatly expanded by the Priddy family and is still run by their daughter Alyson and her husband Marty Taubert. In addition to having a well-stocked supply of parts and expert services, Ship Shops offers boat rentals running for two hours to a full day in 16-, 20-, or 24-foot models for exploring the Bass River and Nantucket Sound. Check out their website for rental pricing and read more of their charming origin story. 130 Pleasant St., South Yarmouth, shipshops.com

ANCHORS OF THE COMMUNITY
MEET YOUR NEIGHBORS

THE MIDCAPE IS AN ASSEMBLAGE OF VILLAGES WITHIN TOWNS. The Town of Dennis, for instance, consists of the villages of Dennis Port, West Dennis, South Dennis, East Dennis, and Dennis. The Town of Yarmouth has Yarmouth Port, South Yarmouth, West Yarmouth and Bass River, which is actually part of South Yarmouth. Hyannis is the largest village within the Town of Barnstable, which is also the name of the county. But wait we’re not done yet. Hyannis has Hyannis Port and West
Hyannisport. The other villages of Barnstable are Barnstable Village, Centerville, Cotuit, Marstons Mills, Osterville and West Barnstable. Got that? Great! By the way, each village has a distinctly different character and is loved by those who choose to live there. Now, let’s meet some of the anchors of the MidCape community that hold these villages together.
The Arts and Culture Coordinator for the Town of Barnstable, Melissa Chartrand, erupts with enthusiasm when she talks about her job. “I work with so many creatives who inspire me daily!” she says. As Arts and Culture Coordinator, Melissa manages several town arts programs including the Hyannis HyArts Artist Shanties. And she supports ArtsBarnstable, the marketing umbrella to promote the town’s “Seven Villages, One Town, All Things Arts and Culture” to showcase happening in each village, from musical performances, art interfacing with nature events, galleries, theater, museums, library programs. And there is undoubtedly more!
Melissa has, for 18 years now, been supporting and fostering the creative community. “It’s all about connections,” says Melissa, and she makes them wherever she sees an opportunity, with programming partnerships with cultural organizations on the Hyannis HyArts Campus that both extends their reach and enriches downtown Hyannis. Melissa walks her talk and lives in downtown Hyannis where she and her husband downsized to one car and walk everywhere. “You can have an artful day, every day, year-round. I love everything about living here.” artsbarnstable.com

“You always have to look to the future,” says Robert “Bert” Talerman, President of Cape Cod 5. “And, at the same time, the most important thing is doing what’s right.” Founded in 1855 and now with more than $5.7 billion in assets, Cape Cod 5 serves communities across Cape Cod, Nantucket, Martha’s Vineyard, and Southeastern Massachusetts. For Bert, the mission of community banking is simple: the bank’s success is directly tied to the well-being of the communities it serves. “As a community banker, the work we do every day depends on the overall health of our communities,” he says. “When our communities thrive, we thrive.”
A significant presence in the region’s economy through housing initiatives, lending, and philanthropic partnerships,
Bert has spent more than 30 years in banking. He also serves in leadership roles with organizations such as the Barnstable Economic Development Council, Cape Cod Healthcare, and as President of the Kelley Foundation. Bert says he feels privileged to work alongside colleagues, customers, and community leaders to make a positive impact across the Cape.
“It isn’t always easy – many of the challenges our communities face are complex, and we don’t always agree,” he says. “But we’re fortunate to live and work in a place where people come together, collaborate, and keep working toward something better.” capecodfive.com
Parth Patel imagined something different for Rt 28 in West Yarmouth. His vision was to create a beautiful space for both locals and visitors to sit comfortably and enjoy views of Lewis Bay while they dined on excellent food and enjoyed great coffee. This space would be about the experience, attentive customer service, a first-class vacation, and a new upscale look for West Yarmouth. So, when it was time to upgrade the long-standing Hunters Green Motel, Parth and his brother, Purvish, reimagined the structure and created Freebird Motor Lodge. It’s a boutique experience, from the themed interior design, to the small plates dinners, and to the morning coffee. “We don’t want to cater only to tourists,” says Parth. “We want the locals to enjoy it here too.” He and his brother’s brand, Reverie Boutique Collection, is currently developing the Uncommoner Hotel, a little further west and opposite the Baxter Grist Mill, further improving Rt 28. They describe their collection this way: “Our hotels are more than spaces to stay they’re stories you can live inside.” freebirdmotorlodge.com
Betty Lentell has always loved Yarmouth Port. She is fully invested in the village she treasures but it took 40 years and two satisfying careers in both banking and marine biology before she found her latest calling. She’s creating artisan lamp shades, custommade fixtures, expertly repairing lighting, and restoring lamps at Barfield’s of Cape Cod. “I was looking for my next adventure,” says Betty, who has been associated with Yarmouth Port since the 1970’s. She arrived home one day in 2016 and said to her partner, “Guess what I did today? I bought a lamp shop!” Besides enjoying her work, Betty is committed to doing her part in preserving Yarmouth Port, as she says, “with local shops that keep it a village, beautiful as it has always been, the Cape Cod I have loved for years.” Find her on Facebook at Barfield’s of Cape Cod.
Gorgeous to behold and luscious to taste, the gelato at South Yarmouth’s Caffé Gelato Bertini is more than a simple treat. From the perspective of the three Thomas sisters Patricia, Peta, and Paige their edible artistry blends creativity, responsibility and care for others. For starters, they never compromise on quality, always using fresh milk, seasonal fruit, and imported Italian ingredients. Twenty-two to twenty-four flavors of gelato are offered daily with new varieties and seasonal specials. They created

Their Fox Den coffee, a specialty from their earlier business by the same name, now resides within the gelato shop. In an era when local businesses are becoming scarce, Andy and Jane Murphy are intentionally bucking that trend. Their flagship restaurant, the Lost Dog Pub, opened in East Dennis 26 years ago. To say it’s a popular spot would be an understatement. On a Friday in the dead of winter, patrons sometimes wait to get a seat. But wait they do, because they know the reward will be great. “We’re running an economy. We have great people working for us,” says Andy. He and Jane met at The Woodshed in Brewster years ago, and after successfully running a restaurant in St. Croix for 10 years, they returned to the Cape and started the East Dennis establishment. Recognizing their ability to keep more locals in meaningful jobs, they leveraged their combined skills and now own the Lost Dog Pub in Orleans, Uncle Pete’s Chowder House, the Peacemaker and The Woodshed all in Brewster, and the Sand Bar in West Dennis that is about as close to the salt marsh as you can get. “We’re lucky to live and work on the Cape,” says Andy. “We support the economy and it
supports us. One hand washes the other.” lostdogpubs.com
“Dennis is the best town. I love it here – I’m tied to it!” Jen Deutsch of Safe Harbor Home Services has lived in Dennis for her entire life and still lives in the house where she grew up. She’s a bonafide Cape native who is giving back amidst the joys and challenges of running a small business. Jen is currently the President of the Dennis Chamber of Commerce and is also an active Rotarian and serves as a Board member of the Harwich/Dennis Rotary Club. Dennis, she says,
has something interesting in every corner and she has found a way to stay in place and still make a happy living. Safe Harbor Home Services came into being just after Covid when Jen offered to help some friends with dog care. She saw an opportunity and parlayed it into full-time pet-sitting/walking, house checks, and concierge work from Orleans to
Osterville. She notes most of her dog-walking clients are in Dennis and Yarmouth. Jen is all things Dennis, and she aims to keep it that way! safeharborpetscapecod.com
People tell David and Megan Shortt that The Wee Packet is the first place they visit when they come to Dennis Port and the last place they stop when they leave. The restaurant opened in 1949 and still maintains nostalgic charm with its shiny yellow tables, jalousie windows, and adjacent gift barn in the Wixon homestead’s original 250-year-old structure. Owned and operated by the Shortts since 2005, this Dennis Port icon is as muchloved now as it has always been. They have expanded the restaurant for the comfort of their ever-growing clientele. “We can accommodate large parties,” says Megan, “and seeing generations of families continue to come here to be together is beautiful.” Both got their start in the restaurant business as teens. Megan worked at the Sundae School for seven summers while David worked at an establishment in Dublin and later at the Cape Cod Irish Village. Together, they carry on the Cape Cod tradition that visitors to Dennis Port’s Wee Packet anticipate every year. Says David, “I put my heart and soul into this place to make it as memorable as possible.” After 22 years seeing multiple generations returning and friendships and families grow, the effort seems to be working! weepacketrestaurant.com

LAZY MORNINGS, HIGH ADVENTURE, AND GREAT FOOD are likely on your list of top priorities during your activityfilled vacation on the MidCape. If you want a stellar breakfast to get you going, head to one of these eateries early on, or expect to wait with the hungry mid-morning crowds. Is the food worth the wait? Most definitely! Bring your appetite and queue up for a delicious start to your day at one of these local gems that will make you want to return for more - or try them all!
A massive, almost one- inch slice of grilled Cinnamon Raisin bread with lots of whipped butter tops the list of favorites along with a generous serving of corned beef hash at Good Friends Café. Everything is homemade, according to owner Chrissy Carr, and her friendly staff has a knack for making guests feel welcome. Waffles are the star of the gluten-free menu along with GF muffins, and these can be prepared vegan by request. Good luck deciding what grilled bread flavor you’ll pick, because there are at least six kinds with daily surprises, and muffin flavors change daily too! Try his signature home fries, plain or stuffed popovers, Truffle Bacon Benedict, Cinnamon Bun French Toast…hungry yet? “If we seem like we’re a throwback to the ‘50’s,” says Rosenbach, “we are!” Recently restored, the restaurant walls are adorned with vintage Dennis photos, red padded chrome benches line the yellow-linoleum bar and the grill and stove gleam. Soak in the view of Nantucket Sound while you relax in the friendly vibes at the Sailing Cow Restaurant. The Cow has a contented island feel and delights in all things cow-y like their 20-egg omelet Cowabunga challenge that, if consumed with home fries and toast within 45 minutes, earns the diner a free tee shirt and a spot on the wall of fame. Owners Robyn Thibodeau and Sandy Jessup, along with their devoted “cowmunity,” revel in giving back with random acts of kindness. Try their Cornbread French Toast, maybe a Boozy Coffee or a Mimosa from their full, all-day bar, or visit the Throw-Back Brunch on Sundays, complete with live music. This indoor-outdoor and family-friendly landmark exudes happiness and hospitality, and their loyal following proves the point. 170 Old Wharf Rd., Dennis Port, sailingcow.com For a lively dose of Irish everything, the Keltic Kitchen does the
trick. Owners David and Margaret Dempsey have created an Irish landmark with an open kitchen, multiple specials daily, and regular favorites like the Irish Farmhouse Breakfast, Crème Brûlée French Toast, and the Keltic Benny. The food is tasty and the portions are big. Irish photos on the walls, Irish waitstaff, and the din of happy and well-fed patrons complete the experience. For Irish gifts and products, check out the Keltic Kottage behind the restaurant where you will be sorely tempted to secure a treasure. Says a reviewer: “not the best breakfast on the Cape – the best breakfast anywhere!” 415 Rt 28, West Yarmouth, keltickitchen.com
The long-running, unmistakable jingle rings in our heads: “Who’s cookin’ breakfast as fast as he can…” Since 1961, the Pancake Man has been serving up a variety of pancakes – presently 11 different versions like blueberry, strawberry or chocolate, including a gluten-free option along with more typical and refreshingly unusual menu items. Pancakes, anyone? Order your breakfast favorites like Eggs Benedict combos and waffles or spice up your meal with Mexican specialties. Enjoy fresh-squeezed orange juice or sip a morning cocktail to add the piece de résistance. 952 Rt 28 Yarmouth, pancakeman.com
Chef Dave says, “I fell in love with cooking breakfast” and he’s typically at the helm of the Heavenly Restaurant. The bright and sunny interior and the happy staff delight customers who
especially love his pancakes, the “Down South” biscuits and gravy, and homemade home fries with onions fresh off the grill. Properly cooked and well-seasoned food, all the way down to perfectly poached eggs, according to the chef, keep people coming back. Open 365 days a year, the breakfast menu is available all day long with both indoor and outdoor seating. 194 Main St., West Yarmouth, theheavenlyrestaurant.com
A small, canary-colored restaurant opposite the Cape Cod Gateway Airport holds big surprises. THE MIDCAPE PLAYED A SIGNIFICANT and often underrecognized role in the American Revolution, with coastal towns contributing soldiers, supplies, and maritime strength to the Patriot cause. From militia companies answering the alarm at Lexington and Concord to seafaring communities supporting Washington’s efforts, the region’s commitment was both early and enduring. Today, towns across the MidCape are marking the

These include historical lectures, cemetery tours, a family workshop, weaving demonstrations, and a 15-week “Old Yarmouth, Life During the Revolution” exhibit at the Cape Cod Museum of Art, co-sponsored by the Dennis Historical Commission and the Historical Society of Old Yarmouth. A highlight will be the May 16 memorial dedication honoring Dennis’ Hometown Heroes—the brave soldiers from 27 Dennis families who fought during the Revolutionary War. More information is available at ccmoa.org, dennishistoricalsociety.org, and town.dennis.ma.us
In Yarmouth, the story is equally compelling. The town’s militia responded to Lexington and Concord and later served under George Washington at Dorchester Heights. On June 20, 1776—weeks before independence was declared—Yarmouth formally voted for independence. Beginning in 2020, historians documented 447 men who served—68% of the town’s 1790 male population, including 53 buried in the Yarmouth Ancient Cemetery. To honor them, the town commissioned a permanent monument and Sons of the American Revolution granite grave
markers to be dedicated on June 20, 2026 during the “Legacy of Liberty Independence Day and Living History Fair” family event. The Historical Society of Old Yarmouth is also presenting a variety of exhibits and programs highlighting colonial life throughout the year. Learn more at hsoy.org, yarmouth.ma.us, and yarmouthcapecod.com.
The Town of Barnstable is also engaging the public with programs that highlight its Revolutionary-era heritage. The Barnstable Historical Society is hosting lectures, special events, and cemetery tours exploring the lives of local Patriots and early residents, while Sturgis Library continues to offer educational talks on Cape Cod’s role in the Revolution. These varied programs collectively reflect Barnstable’s deep colonial roots and provide meaningful opportunities for residents and visitors to connect with local history. More information can be found at barnstablehistoricalsociety.org and sturgislibrary.org.
Together, these commemorations across Dennis, Yarmouth, and Barnstable reflect the MidCape’s enduring Revolutionary spirit and ensure that the courage, sacrifice, and resolve of its early citizens will be remembered and honored for generations to come.

• Hosting business workshops and information sessions
• Connecting owners with town leaders and project updates
• Amplifying member business through print, digital, and social media
