in 2026 Dubai International Arabian Horse Championship has proudly reached its 23rd edition taking place with great success from 3rd to 5th April 2026.
Launched with the ambitious aim of offering the city of Dubai a one-of-a-kind spectacle, this event has not only preserved but also enhanced its identity over time.
This milestone was made possible thanks to the vision and tenacity of Mr Qusai Obaidalla, Director and Board Member since the very first edition, and a true pillar of the event.
Initial premises might have suggested a modest turnout, but the reality told a very different story: the turnout was lively, heartfelt, almost inevitable. The public responded
with enthusiasm, filling the venue and even surpassing the figures from the previous edition, with 154 horses entered and VIP tables reserved for guests. What makes this show truly special, however, goes far beyond the numbers. It is the rare and precious feeling of coming home, at least once a year. The atmosphere is authentic and familiar, built up over time through relationships, experiences and a shared passion. Everyone involved contributes with dedication and awareness, drawing on a wealth of experience gained over the years and a deep connection to the event. In a complex context, this show stands out not only as a major event, but as a symbol of resilience, passion and belonging to the world of the Arabian horse.
But let’s turn to the competition: as previously mentioned, nine judges were invited to assess the 154 horses: Mrs Claudia Darius (DE), Mrs Irina Stigler (RUS), Mrs Micaela Weidner (DE), Mr Eric Gear (FR), Mr Terry Holmes (USA), Mr Jo Polo (USA), Mr Tamas Rombauer (HU), Mr Robbie Den Hartog (NL) and Mr Elyas Ibrahim Faraj (BHR). There were four DCs: Dr Sujeet Bhaskar Suryawanshi, Dr Umer Raza Gill, Dr Abdel Wahab ben Ali Amira and Mr Kais Ben Hadi Ouelhazi from the UAE. Mr Eidha Taleb Almenhali did an excellent job as Ring Master. The voices in the background announcing the judges’ scores for each horse in two different languages were those of Mrs Noora Al Marri and Mr Abdulla Rashid.

This edition also featured a generous prize fund of $4,000,000, distributed as follows: up to 5th place in the Foals classes, up to 7th place in the Junior and Senior Yearling classes, and over $2,000,000 for medals in the final championship.
On Friday 3rd, the Yearling Fillies from Sections A and B opened the show; as always, the top 5 in the class were awarded prizes, but only the top 3 would go through
to the final championship. And it was the beautiful “PALMAH O”, owned by Al Shiraa Arabians, that won both the class and the Gold medal. In second place, taking the Silver medal, was “SALLA ALREMAS”, owned by Mr Mohammad Tareq Al Hassan. Bronze went to “SELENE AL BIDAYER”, owned by Sheikh Mohammed Saoud Sultan S Alqassimi. Next up were the Junior Fillies, with these classes also split into two due to the large number of entrants.
And it was once again Sheikh Mohammed Saoud Sultan S Alqassimi, with the beautiful “AJEEBAH ALBIDAYER”, who took home the Gold medal. Dubai Stud also secured a medal, with “D NERAN” taking the silver. The Bronze medal went to “SAMA AL JAZEEL”, owned by Al Jazeel Stud. The event concluded with the Senior Mares, again divided into two classes, featuring a battle between “AJ ASAI” owned by Mohammad Sheikh Suliman, who claimed the Gold, and “D SHIHANAH” from Dubai Stud, who nevertheless brought home a Silver medal for the stud. An excellent result for “E.S. SALMA”, owned by Sheikh Abdulla Bin Majid Alqassemi, who claimed the Bronze medal. Once again this year, there were two fine Foal classes; let’s start with the very young Fillies and look at the final standings, with the Gold medal going to “YARA ALBIDAYER”, owned by Sheikh Mohammed Saoud Sultan S Alqassimi. The Silver medal goes to “O.M. MAZN” owned by Omar Mohammed Ali Shulaik Alsmelli, and finally a welldeserved Bronze to “SULTANA AL HAAJER” owned by Alya Ahmed Ghanem Mohamed Al Hajeri. In the Colt Foals category, the Gold goes to “EMPARATOR BHM” from Bin Humaila Arabian Stud, whilst Al Sadem Arabian Stud takes the Silver with “FATTAN AL SADEEM”.
Bronze medal for “NIMR M”, owned by Almassarah Arabian Stud. Moving on to the colts, we start with the Yearling Colts, where “GHISHAM A.H.”, owned by Ahamed Saeed Mohamed Sayah Alhameli, takes the Gold medal. Next up, taking Silver, is the first medal to go to Europe, courtesy of Hanaya Arabian Stud with “FVA EXAGOBUR”. Bronze goes to “JAMRAN AL HAAJER” owned by Ghanem Mohamed Ghanem
Mohamed Alhajeri. The tension rises for the most eagerly awaited classes, those of the Colts and Stallions, where, however, for some years now, it has always been Dubai Stud confirming its leadership; indeed, once again it takes Gold with “D BORKAN” in the Junior Colts. Silver medal for “AZZAAM AL AMAL” owned by Sheikh Mohammed Saoud Sultan S Alqassimi, whilst the Bronze is awarded to Oman with “ASHRAF RC” from the Royal Cavalry. The final championship, the last day of this spectacular event, concludes as usual with the presentation of medals for the Senior Stallions category. Here too, Gold goes to Dubai Stud with “D SERAJ”, whilst Silver is awarded to “D MEZYAN”, now owned by Mohammad Sheikh Suliman. The Bronze medal goes once again to Mrs Nayla Hayek of Hanaya Arabian Stud with “EKS SIRAJJ”.
This championship received a prestigious accolade from His Excellency Mohammad Al Gergawi, Minister of State for the United Arab Emirates and Chairman of the Executive Office of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, testifying to the value and international significance of the event.
With impeccable organisation and a schedule that ran smoothly right up to the very last day, this year’s DIAHC also drew to a close with the traditional group photo, bringing together judges, industry professionals and all those who, with passion and professionalism, contributed to the event’s success.
We at Tutto Arabi can only hope that those who have not yet had the opportunity to attend the Dubai show will be able to join us for the 24th edition in 2027. q

The first days of May 2026 welcomed us in Rabat. As Morocco’s capital of lights, where cultural heritage and refined tradition meet it brought a sense of dignity and presence to an event devoted to the beauty, spirit, and enduring legacy of the Arabian horse, providing an especially graceful setting for the 2026 Emirates Arabian Horse Global Cup. The Moroccan stage
of the competition unfolded in a venue closely tied to the country’s equestrian identity as it was held at the premises of The Institute National du Cheval Prince Héritier Moulay El Hassan, under the generous patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan UAE Vice President, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of The Presidential Court and Chairman of the

Board of Directors of Emirates Arabian Horse Society, with the follow-up of His Excellency Sheikh Zayed bin Hamad Al Nahyan, Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of Emirates Arabian Horse Society and Chairman of the Emirates Arabian Horse Global Cup Committee. With the excellent organisation done by the Société Royale d’Encouragement du Cheval (SOREC) we were offered a high-level event which as the third stage of the second edition of the Emirates Arabian Horse Global Cup standed as a tribute to a breed admired across generations and continents.
Morocco offers a particularly fitting backdrop for such a gathering. With its deep equestrian traditions and long appreciation for Arabian bloodlines, the country lends the event both authenticity and distinction. This year’s Moroccan leg brought together a strong field of competitors across multiple categories, from yearlings to mature mares and stallions and the the stage reflected the remarkable depth of Arabian horse breeding in the country. For breeders and owners alike, it offered a rare opportunity to present horses of exceptional type,
movement, and presence before an audience that understands their value.
The Emirates Arabian Horse Global Cup has become an important platform for the international Arabian horse community, uniting breeders and enthusiasts around a shared devotion to excellence and preservation. Following earlier stages in Australia and Bahrain, the Moroccan round added a distinctly North African chapter to the series before it continues to other parts of the world. The event was both a celebration and a statement - of heritage, of horsemanship and of the country’s place on the global Arabian horse stage. In Rabat, elegance and tradition meet naturally, giving this third stage a setting that felt both fitting and memorable. q

There is a clear and consistent vision behind the work of Giovanna Steylaers, an Arabian horse breeder and member of ANICA since 1997, and the driving force behind Sty Arabians. A passion that, however, has its roots much further back in time, when, as a young girl, she travelled across Europe to visit the most prestigious stud farms, alongside the pioneers of breeding in north-eastern Italy.
Even then, she would ‘invest’ her savings to attend the All Nations Cup or the World Championships in Paris. She recalls with remarkable clarity the distinctive traits, strengths and weaknesses of horses seen decades ago, whose grandchildren and great-grandchildren we admire today; when looking at a horse, Giovanna can accurately name most of its ancestors, recognising and recalling the characteristics that defined the appearance of its forebears.

Thus, from these daily observations, arises the awareness and conviction of the importance of genetic heritage in the choices that inspire, determine and characterise her breeding programme—a plan that has had a clear ‘vision’ from the very start of her journey, never influenced by fads or the times.
You can get a better sense of his vision by stepping into his study, where two large bookcases stand out: one –admittedly somewhat neglected – displays trophies and plaques that are dusty and weathered, bearing witness to a journey that began many decades ago (plaques dating from 1994 are prominently displayed) with a clear and defined goal: to breed Arabian horses for show; the other bookcase, however, much larger and tidier, houses hundreds of magazines from all over the world (among which Tutto Arabi and Desert Heritage are prominently displayed), with covers faded by the years, all meticulously organised and from which emerge many bookmarks that quickly lead to articles and photographs of thoroughbreds that have moved her and which – almost certainly – feature in the pedigrees of her horses. For the fundamental pillar of Sty Arabians is to strive to create something that touches the heart, stirs the soul, engages, and moves.
It is all too easy to draw up a list of bloodlines that have shaped the history and standards of the modern Arabian horse. From the charisma of Alidaar and Thee Desperado, the indelible mark of Ali Jamaal, the strength of El Shaklan, the poetry of Ch El Brillo, and many others such as VF Fame, Padron and Magnum Psyche, Barbary, Gazal al Shaqab: a genetic heritage that has characterised the horses bred by Giovanna since 1997.
One of the first, and certainly the most beloved, was Thee Magic Dream (Thee Desperado x HMT Ahrousa by Alidaar, 1997–2025). For Giovanna, Dream represented the fulfilment of a dream (it was no coincidence that he was named as such). She competed in shows, produced offspring and demonstrated just how versatile, enjoyable and high-performing these horses are under saddle – qualities that enhance the beauty of the Arabian breed and which Giovanna promotes through her riding school, where the horses she has bred take centre stage.

Many years and, above all, many sacrifices later, Giovanna met Jamaalianne: it was love at first sight. Both parents are by Ali Jamaal (the dam is one of the foundation mares of Michael Byatt’s stud), but there was no need to look at the pedigree to realise this; precisely for this reason, she became the cornerstone of Giovanna’s breeding project: her genetic legacy is, in fact, found in most of the horses at Sty Arabians, recognisable by their slender build, long, slender necks, great athleticism and movement: among her descendants we note Jayanna (by Lorenzo el Bri), Sty Juliaan (by Mca Magnum Gold), StyJaalisco (by Picasso di Mar) and Sty Jaydeen (Renee el Lawrence x Jayanna), a seven-time Ali Jamaal.
But Giovanna’s breeding programme is highly ambitious, and to complete it she has sought out further additions to reinforce Ali Jamaal’s exotic look with sires capable of displaying great charisma and movement in the ring. And so, Evita El Javier soon arrived: daughter of Esfera and full sister to Essteem, she brought to Sty Arabians the qualities of Bey Shah and his famous son Fame V, combined with the influence of El Shaklan and Ludijn El Jamaal. It is probably thanks to her temperament and her exuberant physicality that watching her offspring move freely in the paddocks is a truly thrilling spectacle, for both the eyes and the ears!
Evita El Javier is the dam of multiple show winners and of the mares Sty Essfera (by Sty Jaydeen) and Sty Esmeralda, daughter of the powerful and charismatic Lawrence el Gazal, and they are the window to the future. From this line comes Sty Elijah (Aj Nawash), who in 2025, in the only two shows he entered (Carmagnola and the Emirates Cup in Verona), triumphed both in his category and in the final championship, and is now embarking on a stud career.

Sty Elijah is probably the horse that, more than any other, embodies Giovanna’s breeding programme, in which temperament is of paramount importance and constitutes a key aspect of the breed’s typical characteristics.
Giovanna is the driving force behind Sty Arabians in Polcenigo (Pordenone), a small operation with fifteen horses (mares, foals, stallions and geldings) where the horses’ wellbeing and peace of mind are the sole priority: no stress or pressure, the patience to wait, and the ability to find a suitable home for each horse that matches its abilities and temperament. Vast meadows, comfortable stables, great attention to nutrition and constant human contact. Around her, Giovanna has gathered a circle of great enthusiasts of the breed who share her passion and appreciate the sporting and athletic qualities of these horses. All the horses are perfectly trained under saddle and offer moments of relaxation and satisfaction.

Ronal
Bejarano
The incompleteness of being between matter, colour and relationship
by Matteo Chincarini
Ronal Bejarano, an artist originally from Honduras but who has been working in Italy for over ten years, creates a style of painting that arises from the encounter between emotional impulse and philosophical reflection.
Small things The space between us - Acrylic on canvas - 120x120 cm - 2025
His work is not limited to the representation of the human body, but explores the complexity of contemporary existence, questioning the relationship between identity, transformation and the desire for connection. His works seem to exist in a suspended space, where the image manifests itself and yet simultaneously eludes us, leaving the viewer with the sensation of witnessing something incomplete, fragile and profoundly human.
The exploration of the human condition lies at the heart of his artistic vision. Bejarano does not paint clearly defined individuals, but rather traces of lives in constant flux. His faces appear blurred, their features dissolving, their bodies seeming to emerge from the paint like apparitions.
Small things Hidden emotions - Acrylic on canvas - 50x50 cm - 2025
This choice is not merely aesthetic: the artist seeks to represent the human being as a reality that is never complete, as an identity in constant transformation. His figures become a metaphor for an unstable era, in which contemporary man struggles to fully recognise himself.
In his painting, the body takes on the value of a pure aesthetic act. There is no anatomical complacency, nor an academic pursuit of formal perfection. The physical form becomes an emotional surface, a site of inner tensions and sensory memory. The fusion of the abstract and the figurative constitutes one of the most original elements of his artistic language.
Small Things Into the blue - Acrylic on canvas - 50x50 cm - 2025
Between the sky and void - 2026 - detail
The figures exist, but are never rigidly defined; abstraction intervenes as a space of freedom, dissolving boundaries and allowing the material to transform into visual emotion.
Particularly significant is the presence of couples. Bejarano often chooses to depict two figures close together, intertwined, almost suspended in a gesture of mutual listening.
In an age dominated by individualism and emotional detachment, the artist feels the need to reaffirm the value of the other. Her couples do not merely depict romantic relationships, but evoke a profound need for sharing, closeness and the joint construction of values. In her paintings, the relationship becomes a form of poetic resistance against contemporary isolation.
Dance also plays a fundamental role in his work. The movements of the bodies appear light, almost immaterial, as if immersed in a dreamlike dimension.
Dance is not depicted as a technical exercise, but as a symbol of freedom and spiritual lightness. The figures seem to float across the canvas without overwhelming it, maintaining a minimal and delicate gesture.
This lightness interacts with the power of the colours, creating an intense balance between energy and silence. Colour, in fact, is the absolute protagonist of Bejarano’s work.
His hues are strong, vivid, lively, often textured, capable of filling the eye without ever appearing aggressive. Central to his work is the significance of the number three, which recurs both in the colour combinations and in the arrangement of elements on the canvas.
For the artist, the number three represents harmony, balance and transformation: a symbolic triad that evokes body, mind and spirit, but also birth, change and rebirth. Self-taught by choice and vocation, Ronal Bejarano approaches painting as a continuous act of discovery. His technique stems from a passion and a desire to constantly challenge himself.
Even the absence of backgrounds reveals a precise poetic stance: leaving the canvas blank means not confining the figures within a defined space. The patches of colour, reminiscent of a surrealist sensibility, thus become emotional imprints from which anthropomorphic figures emerge-light, incomplete presences that continue to engage our gaze.
Ronal Bejarano
In this tension between presence and absence, one also perceives the artist’s dialogue with his own experience of migration.
The Honduras of his origins and the Italy of his maturity coexist in his pictorial sensibility, generating a language that does not belong entirely to a single place.
His canvases speak, in fact, of crossings, of memories and of identities that are constructed through encounters with different cultures. Each figure seems to seek a balance between roots and transformation, between the desire to belong and the need for change.
Small things Red like Love 3 - Acrylic on canvas - 80x80 cm - 2024
It is precisely this universal dimension that makes Bejarano’s painting profoundly contemporary: an art that offers no definitive answers, but invites the viewer to recognise their own fragility in that of the other. Ultimately, his painting possesses a rare delicacy, capable of evoking silence.
Small Things Nomos 5 - Acrylic on canvas - 30×30 cm - 2025
The Flame of Grace A Life in Motion
For more than two decades, the horse has been at the heart of MonZen’s life-not first as a subject to paint, but as a presence to understand. Long before the canvas, there were years spent among Arabian horses: breeding, observing, and absorbing the silent language of movement, strength, and trust. These early experiences shaped not only his artistic vision, but his entire perception of beauty.
His journey began with a relentless pursuit: capturing the perfect expression of the horse. For over ten years, photography became his language. He immersed himself completely, chasing fleeting moments where power, light, and soul aligned. That moment finally emerged in a dramatic scene on the Atlantic coast of Africa, where a champion Arabian stallion rose from the waves with almost mythical intensity. The image, later published internationally, marked both an achievement-and an ending.
From that point, painting became a necessity.
Relocating to Washington, DC, MonZen began translating this lifelong devotion into oil painting. Using palette knife and bold textures, he moved beyond realism, reimagining the horse through memory, emotion, and transformation. His works no longer document reality-they seek to transcend it, capturing the tension, obsession, and fragile perfection that define the equine spirit.
This summer represents a pivotal moment in this journey. Ahead of the release of his upcoming book, The Flame of Grace, MonZen presents an exhibition in Washington, DC, bringing together around twenty oil paintings dedicated to the horse. Many of these works have received international recognition and have been exhibited in museums and galleries across Europe, the United States, and Asia.
The exhibition and the book are deeply intertwined. Together, they trace a path from lived experience to artistic expression-from the physical presence of the horse to its transformation into color, gesture, and form. While the book reflects on this journey through images and narrative, the exhibition offers a direct encounter with the works themselves.
The Flame of Grace is more than a title; it is a vision. It seeks to reveal the invisible force carried by the horse-a balance of power and elegance, instinct and serenity. Through his work, MonZen invites us into a world where beauty is not fixed, but momentary and alive.
In this space of creation, the horse is no longer only seen.
It is felt, remembered-and continually reborn. EMZ ArtStudio 2026 Paris-Taipei-Washington DC | emzartstudio@gmail.com

Parco Vigna Show Arabian Horse
23/24 May 2026 CARMAGNOLA Parco Cascina Vigna ECAHO C National Show
by Fabio Brianzoni z photos by Simone Bergamaschi
On Saturday 23 and Sunday 24 May, some thirty kilometres from Turin, we were in Carmagnola, the splendid setting for the third edition of the national Class C show dedicated to Arabian horses.
Carmagnola, a town that developed over the centuries under the influence of the Marquises of Saluzzo and the House of Savoy, is today an important agricultural centre, famous above all for the cultivation of peppers, the star attraction of the renowned National Pepper Fair. The historic centre is also of great interest, the true heart of the town, where you’ll find the ancient 13th-century castle – now the Town Hall – the 14th-century Church
of Sant’Agostino and prestigious historic buildings such as Palazzo Lomellini, Casa Cavassa and the Casa delle Meridiane. The town’s cultural heritage is further enriched by the Civic Museum of Natural History, the Synagogue and the Civic Naval Museum.
But let’s turn to the event… or rather, the events. You’ll see why later on.
We have reached the third edition of the “Parco Vigna Arabian Horse Show 2026”, now an unmissable event for enthusiasts and industry professionals alike, which this year once again succeeded in combining sport,
livestock promotion and entertainment, strengthening the bond between the local area, the world of the Arabian thoroughbred and quality breeding. The event was organised by the Municipality of Carmagnola in close collaboration with the Regional Breeders’ Association of Piedmont (A.R.A. Piemonte), with the support of the Regional Council of Piedmont and under the official affiliation of ANICA and ECAHO. As for the National Show competition – ECAHO C category – on Saturday 23 May, starting at 9.30 am, the competitions for oneand two-year-old foals got underway. In the afternoon, from 3.00 pm, the programme continued with the categories reserved for three-year-old foals, mares and mounted displays. To ensure the event ran smoothly in accordance with industry regulations, Mrs Barbara Raso and veterinary surgeon Dr Alice Visconti were appointed to the disciplinary committee, whilst the role of Ring Master was entrusted to veterinary surgeon Dr Gianpaolo Teobaldelli.
The show was further enhanced by the presence of an international judging panel comprising Anna Zak (Poland), Patryk Bukowczan (France), Mohamed Ahmed Al Ali (United Arab Emirates) and Fausto Scanzi (Italy). Also on the ground, acting as a probation judge, was Mrs Francesca Romana Pompeo, to whom we extend our best wishes for a long and brilliant career. There was a huge turnout, helped by a splendid, almost summery day that allowed those present to follow every stage of the conformation competition up close. Saturday saw the horses qualify for the final championship, which took place on Sunday from 2.00 pm. On Sunday morning, among the side events, there was an interesting promotional presentation dedicated to the Piedmontese cattle breed, organised in collaboration with Anaborapi and Coalvi. In attendance at the event were the director of the Regional Breeders’ Association, Mr Gianfranco Drigo, the Councillor for Agriculture Roberto Gerbino, the Mayor Ivana Gaveglio and, of course, the patron and creator of the event, Mr Daniele Giaccone.
