The Alief ISD Education Foundation is significantly expanding its reach through strategic partnerships and record-breaking fundraising, highlighted by a transformational $500,000 commitment from First Community Credit Union and a record $142,000 raised at its annual golf tournament These resources directly fuel student and staff success, with over $200,000 in scholarships awarded recently, including the new Dr. Anthony Mays Scholarship and more than $27,000 in teacher grants distributed for the 2025–2026 school year. Beyond traditional funding, the Foundation continues to foster community engagement through innovative events, such as its inaugural pickleball tournament, which featured high-profile alumni and raised over $11,000 to support ongoing educational initiatives.

The Alief Fine Arts Department maintained its legacy of excellence throughout the 2025–2026 school year, securing its seventh consecutive "District of Distinction" award from the Texas Art Educators Association and its fourth "Best Communities for Music Education" designation from the NAMM Foundation This commitment to instructional quality is further evidenced by the fact that 23% of the district's Teacher Incentive Allotment recipients are fine arts educators, alongside the continued success of Alief’s nationally acclaimed speech and debate teams By leveraging powerful community partnerships with organizations such as the Houston Symphony and the Hobby Center, the department continues to expand student access to the arts, cementing its role as a vital bridge between the classroom and the local cultural landscape

The 2025–2026 school year marked a period of profound growth for Alief ISD’s Human Resources, Risk Management, and Professional Learning departments, centered on the theme of "People, Passion, and Progress." Human Resources** achieved a milestone in workforce development, with the Associate Teacher program certifying 193 educators this year alone and the Teacher Incentive Allotment (TIA) reinvesting $8.5 million into high-performing instructional talent. To protect and sustain this workforce, **Risk Management** introduced comprehensive wellness initiatives, including digital health platforms like Wondr and Hinge Health, alongside community events like the "Alief Goes Pink" walk which has raised over $20,000 to date. Simultaneously, Professional Learning fortified the leadership pipeline by onboarding 25 new administrators and partnering with Relay GSE to sharpen instructional coaching, resulting in measurable gains in student performance Through strategic recruitment, record-breaking certification pathways, and holistic employee support, Alief ISD has solidified a sustainable culture of excellence that values professional longevity and student success

Alief ISD continued its legacy of fiscal excellence during the 2025–2026 school year, securing a Superior Rating from the TEA’s Financial Integrity Rating System of Texas (FIRST) and earning the TASBO Award of Merit for Purchasing Operations for over a decade of procurement refinement The district also achieved the prestigious ASBO Meritorious Budget Award** for the 28th consecutive year, a distinction that recognizes budget documents for their transparency, inclusivity, and clear alignment of resources with student-centered goals. Led by the year-round strategic planning of Budget Director Julee Patterson, these accolades reaffirm Alief ISD’s commitment to maintaining professional standards and providing taxpayers with a clear, accountable roadmap for district spending.

ALIEF ISD ALIEF ISD HIGHLIGHTS HIGHLIGHTS

The Alief ISD CTE Department enjoyed a landmark 2025–2026 school year, earning the CTAT District of Distinction award and expanding its community footprint through new partnerships with leaders like CenterPoint Energy and GE Vernova Highlighting the year’s achievements, Alief Secondary Teacher of the Year Sherita Harmon led the way as the district broke ground on a new Agricultural Science Center and launched an innovative Recycling Lab in partnership with Special Education, producing specialized 3D filament for Baylor University cancer research From hosting the Forge Her Future all-girls welding contest to surpassing $100,000 in school store sales and providing professional mentorships through HCA and Alief Athletics, the department continues to offer diverse, real-world experiences. These efforts culminated in massive student engagement, including BizTown for 6,000 younger students and successful competitive runs, with over 30 students heading to FBLA and TAFE national competitions, and the first cohort of Cosmetology students earning professional certificates and degrees.

The 2025–2026 school year was a landmark year for Alief ISD Athletics, marked by significant competitive success and expanded student opportunities The district saw nine team sports earn playoff berths and a record number of swimmers qualify for postseason competition, while the launch of the inaugural middle school cross country season broadened the athletic pipeline for younger students. Beyond the field, the district prioritized leadership and infrastructure, sending athletes to a transformative "US Army Experience" at Fort Hood, hosting the "Elevate" leadership cohort, and beginning construction on a new press box for Crump Stadium to modernize the game-day experience. These initiatives, combined with increased collegiate exposure visits, underscore Alief’s commitment to developing well-rounded student-athletes prepared for success both during and after high school.

Alief ISD is accelerating student success through innovation and expanded opportunity With 16 A and B rated campuses, the district’s commitment to academic growth is clear.

Specialized Programs: Recently launched PVAA, STEM, and CITGO Innovation programs at the intermediate and middle school levels. New Pathways (Fall 2026): Launching Pre-Engineering at Elsik, the Cougar Academy for Future Health Majors at Hastings (in partnership with the University of Houston), and the Alief360 Virtual School at Taylor College Readiness: Expanding "9-by-9" dual credit opportunities, allowing freshmen to earn nine college hours and meet CCMR indicators early. Through strategic recruitment and community partnerships, Alief ISD remains dedicated to providing high-quality, flexible learning options that prepare every student for college, career, and service

Alief ISD’s commitment to College, Career, and Military Readiness (CCMR) reached a historic milestone during the 2025–2026 school year, with readiness rates soaring from 32% in 2022 to 82% in April 2026. By treating postsecondary readiness as an intentional goal rather than an accident, the district has seen over 2,000 seniors meet key benchmarks, placing Alief just eight points away from a distinction-level "A" rating. Moving forward, the district remains focused on sustaining this momentum to ensure every graduate is equipped for a clear and successful postsecondary pathway

Alief ISD seniors have achieved record-breaking success during the 2025–2026 school year, securing acceptances to the nation’s most prestigious institutions, including Harvard, MIT, Stanford, Rice, and Columbia. After reaching a record $277 million in scholarships last year, Alief ISD is on track to surpass $300 million this year. These achievements underscore the resilience of our students and the dedicated support of our counselors and partners, proving that Alief graduates are not only college-ready but are among the most sought-after future leaders in the country.

H-E-B received more than 2,000 applications from across the state, and Alief was among the 25 large school districts selected as a semi-finalist H-E-B's acknowledgment underscores the collective efforts of Alief ISD’s dedicated educators, administrators, staff, and community partners, whose daily work creates a culture of high expectations and meaningful opportunities Through a focus on student achievement, strong instructional practices, and supportive learning environments, the district continues to make a measurable impact on students' and families' lives. Being named a statewide semi-finalist not only celebrates past and present accomplishments but also reinforces the Alief ISD’s continued commitment to preparing students for success in college, career, and beyond.
