This report presents all available historical data for all countries and areas of the Western Pacific Region for the last 35 years from 1983 to 2018, together with programmatic and policy milestones. This presents a public health success story for future generations to know and learn from it. Leprosy has been eliminated as a public health problem at the regional level in the Region in the late 1980s. The decline was hastened after the introduction of multidrug therapy in the mid-1980s and the adoption of the World Health Assembly resolution in 1991.
