FIELD PLACEMENT OPPORTUNITIES
Semester in practice Students practice law full time, before graduation, while receiving academic credit. Under the supervision of highly qualified and knowledgeable attorneys students gain intensive hands-on experience. The Semester in Practice program requires students to work a minimum of 35 hours per week for 14 weeks; and a shorter seven week program is available over the summer. Students who wish to practice elsewhere in New York, in other states or internationally after graduation have the opportunity to work and network in those locations as an integral part of their legal education.

LAW CLINIC & JUSTICE CENTER Sworn in by a judge, law students annually help several hundred clients in New York’s Capital Region who may otherwise not have legal representation for cases involving health care, domestic violence, taxes, civil rights, and other issues.

PRO BONO PROGRAM More than 200 Albany Law students volunteer a total of 2,000 hours of law-related service to low-income communities in Albany and nationwide as part of the school’s Pro Bono Program.
CURRENT PRO BONO INITIATIVES INCLUDE:

THE ANTHONY V. CARDONA ’70 MOOT COURT PROGRAM Last year, students competed in eight national competitions and also hosted 22 law schools from around the country for the 24th Annual Domenick L. Gabrielli Family Law Competition.
