Welcome to the 2026 edition
Alan Rogers Guides were first published in 1968. Since Alan Rogers published the first campsite guide that bore his name, the nature of European campsites has changed immeasurably.
Back then, many campsites, though well established, were still works in progress, having been converted from farms and orchards in the post-war years. Of course, there were fewer to choose from than today and the quality levels varied hugely.
Since the first edition of the Alan Rogers guide, the quality of most campsites has evolved in leaps and bounds. In terms of today’s facilities, infrastructure, technology and accommodation types, there is very little comparison with what was on o!er half a century ago.
At Alan Rogers we have developed longstanding relationships with many campsites. We have worked with di!erent generations of campsite owners and shared the trials and tribulations along the way with many of them. Typically, campsite owners are a hardy breed, passionate about their campsite, and keen to show it and their region o! to every visitor.
The Alan Rogers guides have always aimed to celebrate the variety, recognise the quality and salute the unique. So read on and find the perfect campsite for your next holiday, whatever type of campsite that may be.

Campsite Name
A description of the site in which we try to give an idea of its general features – its size, situation, strengths and weaknesses. This section should provide a picture of the site itself with reference to the provided facilities and if they impact its appearance or character.
We include details on approximate pitch numbers, electricity (with amperage), hardstandings etc. in this section, as pitch design, planning and terracing a!ect the site’s overall appearance. Similarly, we include a reference to pitches used for caravan holiday homes, chalets, and the like.

How to best use this guide
The layout of this edition is similar to our previous ‘new-style’ Europe guides but di!erent from our pre-2018 editions. We still aim to provide comprehensive information, written in plain English in an easy to use format, but a few words of explanation regarding the content may be helpful.
Toilet blocks Typically, toilet blocks will be equipped with WCs, washbasins with hot and cold water and hot shower cubicles. They will have all the necessary shelves, hooks, plugs and mirrors. There will be a chemical toilet disposal point, and the campsite will provide water and waste-water drainage points and bin areas.
Shop Basic or fully supplied, and any date restrictions.
Bar, restaurant, takeaway facilities and entertainment We try to note any seasonal open dates.
Swimming pools These might vary from a simple, conventional swimming pool to an elaborate complex with multiple pools and waterslides. Opening dates and levels of supervision are provided where we have been notified. There is a regulation whereby Bermuda shorts may not be worn in swimming pools (for health and hygiene reasons). It is worth ensuring that you take ‘proper’ swimming trunks with you.
Leisure facilities For example, playing fields, bicycle hire, organised activities and entertainment.
Dogs If dogs are not accepted, or restrictions apply, we state it here. If planning to take a dog or other pet, we always recommend you check in advance.
Opening dates Campsites can and sometimes do alter these dates throughout the year, often for good reasons. If you intend to visit shortly after a published opening date or shortly before the closing date, it is wise to check the site will be open at the time required. Similarly, some sites operate a restricted service during the low season, only opening some of their facilities (e.g. swimming pools) during the main season. It is always wise to check.
Sometimes, campsite amenities may be dependent on there being enough customers on-site to justify their opening. Some campsites may not be fully ready by their stated opening dates. They also tend to close down some facilities at the end of the season and generally wind things down.
We usually give an overview of the pitches, including an approximate quantity. This figure may vary year on year, so it is rarely absolute.

France

From the hot, sunny climate of the Mediterranean to the northern, cooler regions of Normandy and Brittany, along with the likes of the châteaux-studded Loire Valley and the mountains of the Alps, France o ers holidaymakers a huge choice of destinations to suit all tastes.
The country’s landscape is varied, from the wooded valleys of the Dordogne to the volcanic uplands of the Massif Central, and from the rocky coast of Brittany to the lavender-covered hills of Provence. The diversity of these regions is reflected in the local customs, cuisine, architecture and dialect.

International de Jablines
International de Jablines is a modern site in a prime location for active families. The leisure facilities of the adjacent Espace Loisirs are a big draw, with large lakes o!ering many water sports and activities like tree climbing, riding, children's playground, sports fields and more. The 400 metres of fine sandy beaches are open every day in July and August and on the weekends in May and June – the Grand Lac is said to have the largest beach in the Île-de-France. But for some, the proximity to Disneyland Paris (6 km and there's a shuttle at certain times) and Paris (30 km) seals the deal.
The site has 190 pitches, of which 160 are for touring units. Most are of a good size (100-120 sq.m), often slightly sloping, with gravel hardstanding and grass, accessed by tarmac roads and marked by young trees. All have 10A electrical connections; 60 are fully serviced. There are about a dozen wooden chalets to rent.
Two toilet blocks, heated in cool weather, include pushbutton showers and some washbasins in cubicles. Accessible facilities. Laundry facilities. Motorhome services (charged). Shop (all season). Sailing, waterskiing, windsurfing, kayaking, pedalos. Mini golf. Tennis. Table tennis. Football. Play area. Boules. WiFi throughout (free). Ticket sales for Disneyland and Parc Astérix. This leafy site is well laid out around an impressive pool complex, forming a natural focal point. Some pitches are grassier than others, but all are set among the trees, all with 10A electricity and decent shade to most, and they're at least 100m sq. Extra large pitches are also available, as well as some hardstandings. Nearby medieval Ruoms is attractive and handy for its shops and amenities. Le Ranc Davaine
In the heart of the Ardèche and close to the famous gorges, Le Ranc Davaine is a large, busy, family-oriented site with direct access to the River Chassezac and its pebble beach. There are approximately 500 pitches, 50 for touring, all with electricity (10/16A), for which very long leads are required (some may cross roads). Most pitches are scattered between static caravan and tour operator pitches on reasonably flat, stony ground under a variety of trees, some of which are pretty low, giving much-needed shade.
The site can get very busy for much of the season, with the extensive aqua park acting as a focal point, especially as the sun goes down and the evening's entertainment begins. New features have been added, including a covered pool area, more slides, a wave machine and an improved bar with a veranda.
Three sanitary blocks with facilities for visitors with reduced mobility. Washing machines and dryers. Large shop. Bar/ restaurant, pizzeria, takeaway. Indoor swimming pool (heated), various pools, water slides and water park (all season, no shorts allowed). River beach. Large playground. Spa. Tennis. Football, volleyball, table tennis. Camping Le Sérignan-Plage
Yelloh! Village le Sérignan-Plage is a lively and vibrant Mediterranean site with direct access to a superb 600-metre sandy beach (including a naturist section). When you arrive at this site, the reception is very modern and e!icient, and a map is printed to show you and direct you to your pitch. This is one of the largest sites I have visited, but as it is spread over such a large area, it does not feel like you are on a large commercial site. Touring pitches, number 293, are separated from an even larger area of mobile homes for rental. Pitches are generous and divided by low hedging and have direct access to the beach. There are approximately 571 mobile homes and chalets for rental, plus some privately owned units and a good number of tour operator pitches.
Within the touring site, there are three sanitary blocks, all modern and clean and fully equipped with dishwashing and laundry facilities. Accessible facilities, baby bathroom. Laundry. Motorhome services. Supermarket, bakery and newsagent. Other shops (high season). ATM. Restaurants, bars and takeaway. Hairdresser. Balnéo spa (afternoons). Gym. Indoor heated pool. Outdoor pools, water playground and waterslides (all season). Tennis. Yoga. Multisport courts. Playgrounds. Trampolines. Children's clubs. Evening entertainment. Sporting activities. Mini golf. Bike rental. Bus to Sérignan village (Jul/Aug). Beach (lifeguards, high season). Canoeing, water sports, adventure park nearby. WiFi (charged). Gas barbecues only. Camping Le Brasilia
Situated across the yacht harbour from the Canet-Plage resort, Yelloh! Village Le Brasilia is an impressive, wellmanaged family site directly beside the beach. There's much to praise here, from the state-of-the-art reception to the sensational water park, excellent spa and park-like grounds. Although large, it is attractive and well kept with a remarkable range of facilities – with good reason, it's always a popular choice.
The 699 touring pitches are neatly hedged, most with electricity (6-10A) and 408 with water and drainage. They vary in size from 80 to 120 sq.m. with some of the longer pitches suitable for two families together. There is decent shade from pines and flowering shrubs, with less on pitches near the beach. A member of Yelloh! Village and the prestigious Leading Campings group.

Camping le Grand Large
Le Grand Large is a well-established, quality family site with direct access to a long sandy beach within 20 km. drive of Cherbourg. It is a neat site with about 120 touring pitches divided and separated by hedging, giving an orderly, welllaid-out, attractive appearance. Almost all have electricity (10A Europlug), water and drainage. There are 50 mobile homes to rent in three separate areas.
The reception area is at the entrance (with a security barrier), and the forecourt is decorated with flower beds. To the rear of the site and laid out in the sandhills is an excellent play area. Not surprisingly, the sandy beach is a big attraction. The length of units is restricted to eight metres to prevent any problems accessing pitches.
Two well-maintained toilet blocks. The main one is modern and includes washbasins in cubicles and some family rooms. Some showers and WCs have access to the outside of the building. Accessible facilities, baby bathroom. Laundry area. Motorhome services. Shop for basics. Bar (all season). Snacks (July/Aug).
