An Invitation to Feed the Penguins
A distinctive and delightful experience is provided by Al Ain Zoo for its visitors as part of endeavours to develop its entertainment programmes, enabling visitors and tourists from both inside and outside the country to enjoy a series of adventures, including the penguin feeding experience.
This experience gathers the Zoo’s family of Humboldt penguins as 55 of these unique birds approach in their almost choreographed style and visitors can get up close and personal without barriers to get to know them and discover the precise details of their life as they pick up their favorite food, which is, of course, fish.
The penguin feeding programme also includes cultural, educational, awareness and recreational aspects. A specialized team escorts the visitors to the penguins and provides all necessary instructions, explaining the safety factors for visitors and penguins alike, from their wide knowledge and experience. Visitors will also learn about the efforts made by the Zoo in order to provide the penguins with due care and attention, contributing to protecting them from extinction.
This engaging experience seeks to educate the public about Al Ain Zoo’s important role in protecting a range of species, including the Humboldt penguins, from extinction. This is achieved by explaining the need to preserve the environment from pollution and expanding the public’s awareness of the factors that lead to extinction, including hunting and the loss of the animals’ natural habitats.

The Striped Hyena, a medium-sized mammal, is one of three species of Hyena, the others being the Spotted Hyena and the Brown Hyena. It’s one of the fiercest predators in Africa, the Middle East, West India, and the Arabian Peninsula.
