Al Ain Zoo is the first Zoo of its kind in the Middle East and was founded in 1968. The Zoo is known globally for its efforts in the conservation of nature and wildlife, and its protection of about 4000 animal species.
Since our establishment, we have expanded and created successive projects over an area of nine million square metres, resulting in one of the largest areas in the world dedicated to wildlife and environmental learning. Our visitors of all ages and interests enjoy discovering the Zoo in an atmosphere of amazement and adventure that’s full of diverse learning experiences.

Don't be surprised when you see a Parrot flying above you in our Parrot show. Enjoy the spectacular "Wings of the Sahara" show as birds of prey dazzle you with their thrilling movements, responding to our competent group of UAE trainers, which includes the first female, Emirati bird trainer in the UAE.
Our animals are always impatiently waiting for their next meal. Enjoy feeding the giraffes & budgies and watch the tortoises put on a burst of speed when heading for their meal! Don't miss as the lions feast on their kill.

Dining with lions
A new experience has been introduced to Al Ain Safari, the world's first man-made safari, where now Al Ain city visitors can dine a few meters away from members of the Lion Kingdom in a well-appointed location comparable to fivestar hotel services. The experience includes a wonderful feast accompanied by the lions, while preserving the privacy of the animals in their wild habitat and adhering to the universal principles of animal rights and human safety, ensuring a safe and very clear view of the King of the Jungle as he shares a meal with his guests.
Live the Experience:
The experience begins (with a maximum of six visitors or a minimum of four, all over the age of 13 years) at the exclusive Al Maha Royal Hall, where the Emirati tour guide will accompany his guests as they enjoy an exciting trip to evening camps with subdued lighting surrounded by depictions of wildlife scenes. Visitors will also learn details of the wildlife and the way lions attack their prey.
Once visitors arrive at the site of the dining experience, they will be served dinner on a huge table arranged on a wooden platform overlooking the lions' den. The meal includes a delicious variety of food and beverage options that are pre-selected by visitors and are prepared on-site by specialized chefs.

How do you plan a trip to the Al Ain Safari?

Feature Theatre
The Feature Theatre is the second of its kind in the country. Here, sitting in comfort, you will be entertained by the film, "Visions of the Arabian Desert". The film also illustrates how our ancestors managed to survive in this land and coexist with its grandeur, from which they derived their ability to achieve miracles.

Our Upcoming Projects
Elephant Safari
In a unique family experience, you will see the beauty of elephants up close in their daily life. You may see them splashing themselves with water with their long trunks, flapping their ears like cooling fans, and other strange things that you have never seen before.
Do not forget to pass through the Elephants Village, the Lion exhibit, the African-style lounges, and the Observation Tower, which will allow you to see across the vast expanse of the Elephant Safari to see the world's largest man-made safari. We have created this project as part of an initiative to conserve this huge and lovable animal from extinction, as there are less than 300,000 elephants in Africa.
Gorilla Sanctuary
Enjoy an exceptional experience at the Gorilla Sanctuary, which allows you to watch the Silverback Mountain Gorilla in their daily life. You will have a tour in the open and air-conditioned exhibits, learning many interesting scientific facts in a relaxed and pleasant atmosphere. Visitors will also enjoy a direct view of the Gorilla family that came from the foggy forests of eastern Africa: Congo, Burundi and Cameroon, and are still in danger of extinction – Pay us a visit and help in conserving these species.
Sand Cat Conservation Center
Enjoy watching one of the most beautiful cats in the world, the Arabian Sand Cat, which has been living in the desert of the UAE for decades and has been threatened with extinction. We have initiated a series of programs to conserve them and we now have the largest captive population of Sand Cats in the world.
At the Sand Cat Conservation Center, you will discover all about the lives of an amazing range of desert animals through exciting educational resources in an integrated center designed to conserve and protect wild animals from extinction, such as the Fennec Fox, Jerboa, Scorpions and Snakes, all while participating in an exciting interactive journey.
