THE LEGEND THAT ALMOST WASN’T

FROM 3 JUNE ALDWYCH THEATRE

Sinatra The Musical is heading to the West End this summer!

Featuring over twenty classic hits

Brought to the stage by a world class creative team including two-time Tony Award-winning writer Joe DiPietro (What’s New Pussycat? and Memphis) and Olivier Award-winning and three-time Tony Award-winning director and choreographer, Kathleen Marshall (Anything Goes and Top Hat). You’ll want to be a part of it from June 2026 at the Aldwych Theatre. Joel Harper-Jackson is stepping into the iconic shoes of Frank Sinatra in SINATRA THE MUSICAL – joined by Ana Villafañe as the movie goddess Ava Gardner and Phoebe Panaretos as Frank’s first wife, Nancy Sinatra. It is New Year’s Eve, 1942, and a skinny 27-year-old Italian-American singer is about to step onto the stage of New York City’s Paramount Theatre and give a performance that will change music history. But as Frank Sinatra’s voice captures a nation, his heart is torn between his wife, Nancy, and movie goddess, Ava Gardner. When scandal and a hostile press send his career into a tailspin, the young crooner fights back and stages the greatest comeback in show business history.

Featuring over twenty classic hits, including “That’s Life“, “One For My Baby“, “The Best Is Yet to Come” and “I‘ve Got the World on a String“, SINATRA THE MUSICAL is the most revealing portrait ever told about the legendary singer.

Star interview!

Madcap comedy collective SpitLip wrote the music, book and lyrics for the multi award-winning musical OPERATION MINCEMEAT.

find out how they brought the show to life...

Who could have imagined that the most uproarious musical in years would find its zany inspiration from … James Bond?

“We just had been devouring every kind of source we could for telling the story of ‘OPERATION MINCEMEAT,’” Felix Hagan recalled, and we’d come to this realisation that it chimed every macabre, sick, twisted bell in all our horrible heads.”

Hagan is one of the members of SpitLip, the madcap comedy collective that in 2017 came up with a wild premise: turning the tale of an improbably brash British wartime escapade, into an improbably brash British musical. And that what would seal the deal early on was that one of the real-life characters in the tale of this mind-boggling gambit — a major World War II turning point for the Allies — was none other than the author-creator of Agent 007.

“By miles, the funniest thing that we could think of at the start was that Ian Fleming was involved,” Hagan noted.

And off Hagan went with the other SpitLip members — Natasha Hodgson, Zoë Roberts and David Cumming on a creative binge that would eventually lead to London’s West End, and then to Broadway.

Now, having earned critics’ raves (88 five-star reviews and counting) and Olivier awards along the way, OPERATION MINCEMEAT, directed by Robert Hastie, heads out on its first UK tour. It begins, aptly enough, on Feb. 16 at The Lowry in Salford — the theatre that hosted its very first scratch performance.

Zoë Roberts, who along with her SpitLip partners collaborated on the show’s book and score, the surprise and pleasure of the project has been its multi-generational appeal. “There’s something really joyful in the success of ‘Mincemeat,’” she observed, in a joint interview with her fellow SpitLip-sters, “and that has been the breadth of the age ranges, the backgrounds, the genders who enjoy it, and that, you know, that’s great.”

The story is demonstrably true, down to the fact that the Germans were completely duped, leading them to move their forces to the wrong site of the supposed invasion. This paved the way for the Allies to launch, virtually unimpeded, a campaign to recapture Italy. Of course, the musical is a witty riff on this beguilingly clever bit of spycraft. But the emotions it rouses, undergirding the ordeal of World War II, go deeper for British audiences. “For everyone that went to school here, that’s

something that they would have covered,” said Christian Andrews, who plays the prim, kindly secretary Hester (and other characters) in the UK tour. “My great auntie loved telling us about the war — I think she must have been like 16 or something when World War Two started. And yeah, I adored sitting down and listening to her.”

It is the essence of that idea, of gathering round to be regaled by a mesmerising bit of history, that “OPERATION MINCEMEAT” bottles so well.

But when it came to writing the score, the focus became on mining various musical genres, from period ballads to contemporary hip-hop, for the humour or pathos the scene required.

“We approached every number completely with a clean slate as to what is the correct musical palette for this one song,” said Cumming, who originated the role of Charles Cholmondeley, the nerdy MI5 conceiver of the subterfuge.

“And so we were less thinking about who’s going to be watching it; we were like, what does the story require in this moment, for this moment to be the best it possibly can be?”

This was certainly true for what has become an emotional high point of the production, when

Hester, played to Tony and Olivier-winning acclaim by Jak Malone, strums the audience’s heartstrings in the plaintive memory song, “Dear Bill.” The number is an instant theatre classic, revealing the story of Hester’s love for — well, why spoil the three-hanky moment?

“I had the privilege of seeing Jak do it before I touched the material,” recalled Andrews, who understudied before taking over the role in the production still running in the West End’s Fortune Theatre. “So the sense of who this version of the woman is was quite clear to me as a blueprint from Jak. And I think I was actually a bit naive as to how hard it is because of how brilliantly Jak did it.”

Alongside Andrews, Holly Sumpton Seán Carey, and Charlotte Hanna-Williams return from the West End production to reprise their roles in the touring cast, joined by new recruit Jamie-Rose Monk. Audiences across the country will now be able to savour the SpitLip treatment of a singular slice of British history. Come to think of it, by means of virtuosic farce and an uncanny mastery of both genderswitching role-playing and the art of the quickchange, SpitLip seems to have been singularly destined for this assignment.

HARPER LEE’S TO KILL A MOCKINGBIRD AARON SORKIN BARTLETT SHER

FROM 25 JUNE WYNDHAM’S THEATRE 12 WEEKS ONLY

HHHHH “ALL RISE for this powerfully uplifting theatrical event” – Evening Standard

Aaron Sorkin’s riveting, award-winning stage adaptation of Harper Lee’s TO KILL A MOCKINGBIRD returns to the West End for a strictly limited season this summer

The seminal American novel about racial injustice and childhood innocence became a Broadway and West End sensation with star-studded seasons on both sides of the Atlantic and is currently thrilling audiences across the UK and Ireland in a sell-out national tour.

Successful lawyer, Atticus Finch, encourages kindness and empathy in his children, but is pushed to the limits of these qualities himself when he resolves to uncover the truth in a town that seems determined to hide it. Acclaimed stage and screen actor Richard Coyle (The Player Kings, Macbeth, Fantastic Beasts: Secrets of Dumbledore) returns to this iconic production as Atticus Finch, reprising the role he played to great critical acclaim in the 2022 West End production.

Set in 1934 Alabama, TO KILL A MOCKINGBIRD was inspired by novelist Harper Lee’s own childhood and has sold more than 45 million copies worldwide. It won the Pulitzer Prize for Literature and was long at the top of the banned book lists.

A new play by

Kings don’t kill their wives, right?

Smart. Scrappy. Savage. 1536, the “electrifying” (The Standard) historical drama with a modern edge, transfers to the West End following a sold-out run at the Almeida Theatre – don’t miss your chance to see this “effortlessly funny, bold and ballsy” (The Guardian) must-see new play.

Written by Ava Pickett, winner of the 2024 Susan Smith Blackburn Prize, directed by Lyndsey Turner (Chimerica) with Liv Hill (Three Girls), Siena Kelly (Black Mirror) and Tanya Reynolds (Sex Education) reprising their original roles, this “razor-sharp, darkly comic and blisteringly relevant” (The Independent) new play explores the dynamics of female friendship in a world stacked against women. Tudor England. A field in Essex.

Three women hurry to their childhood meeting place, thirsty for gossip from London.

Word spreads of a clash between King Henry VIII and his Queen, Anne Boleyn. And closer to home, another rumour begins to catch fire.

As these women begin to see echoes of the royal drama in their own rural lives and a rise in violence spreads throughout the land, the actions of a queen imprisoned in a tower threaten to cost them everything.

“Screamingly good fun!”– Variety

It’s showtime! Opening doors at the Prince Edward Theatre this May

Get ready for the time of your afterlife with the supernaturally hilarious hit musical BEETLEJUICE! The spectacular Broadway sensation crosses over to the Prince Edward Theatre from May – for a limited haunting only. Based on Tim Burton’s beloved movie classic, this wildly funny – and weirdly life-affirming – musical tells the tale of Lydia Deetz, a strange and unusual teenager sharing her home with a pair of newly-deads and the demonic ghost with the most, Beetlejuice. We recently interviewed Matt Cardle, who will be playing the role of Charlie Price in KINKY BOOTS. Read on to find out what he had to say…

What was your first reaction when you were offered a role in KINKY BOOTS?

I was absolutely over the moon to hear I had been offered the role. I put it to the back of my mind as best I could after the audition, but after a long 3 weeks I got the call I was hoping for and screamed down the phone. Playing Charlie Price is a dream come true!

What excites you most about stepping into this particular show at this point in your career?

It’s a role I’ve always dreamed of playing since watching Killian Donnelly play the role in 2016. So it’s been a long wait! I’ve been out of the West End for a while touring and releasing music, so to be returning to London is already incredible, but being at the iconic London Coliseum, on London’s biggest stage, is the icing on the cake!

How are you preparing for the physical demands of the role—especially those boots?

I’ve been spending a lot more time in the gym, especially leg days. After 20 years on a skateboard I fear for my knees up and down the stairs all show!

I’ve also been spending a bit of time in heels to get used to it.

Are there any songs in the show that feel particularly special to perform?

Soul Of A Man is such a moment for Charlie in the show. it’s incredibly exposing for the character and the performer. The song comes at the end of an extremely emotional scene in act 2 and it really is the summit of the mountain for Charlie

What do you enjoy most about telling a story through musical theatre rather than a concert set?

I enjoy the fact that I’m conveying someone else’s message through the script and songs, rather than my own! Being entrusted with someone else’s story and emotions is always a huge honour.

Why do you think this show still resonates so strongly with audiences today?

It’s an amazing show with an amazing message that will live on forever. It’s one of pure acceptance which is always relevant and necessary. Other than that, the songs kick ass and the storyline is brilliant.

Please sum up the show in 3 words.

Sexy. Raw. Genuine.

17 APRIL - 7 JUNE 2026

THE PRICE starring Henry Goodman comes to the Marylebone Theatre for a strictly limited run!

What is the price of the choices we make?

Arthur Miller’s searing family drama THE PRICE comes to the Marylebone Theatre in a powerful new production starring two-time Olivier Award-winning Henry Goodman (Yes, Prime Minister, Fiddler On The Roof, The Resistible Rise of Arturo Ui), Faye Castelow (Leopoldstadt, After the Dance), Elliot Cowan (A Little Life, 2.22) and John Hopkins (Dr Strangelove, The 39 Steps). On the eve of selling their late father’s possessions, two estranged brothers meet in a cluttered New York attic for the first time in years. What begins as a simple transaction becomes a fierce emotional reckoning, as decades of resentment, sacrifice and buried truth erupt into the open. By turns darkly funny and devastatingly human, Olivier Award-nominated Jonathan Munby directs a stellar cast in one of Miller’s most intimate and explosive dramas: a gripping portrait of family where memory, regret, and emotional inheritance collide.

The 50th anniversary revival of David Hare’s rebel play

The acid dream is over lezzava good time

Before the New York Dolls. Before Debbie Harry. Before Kurt Cobain. There was Maggie Frisby. Once the roaring voice of 60s counterculture, now broke and disillusioned, a band’s youthful dreams of anarchic rebellion collapse into bitterness. Amidst the wreckage, lead singer Maggie tears through the night fuelled by booze, fury, and a voice that refuses to die. 50 years after David Hare’s trailblazing play set the Royal Court alight, TEETH ‘N’ SMILES is ready to burn things down all over again. The ship is sinking but the music remains the same.

TEETH ‘N’ SMILES is a play with original music starring Rebecca Lucy Taylor (Self Esteem) as Maggie, Michael Fox (Downton Abbey) as Arthur with Phil Daniels (Cock, Quadrophenia) as Saraffian.

Staff review!

Did you know…

• 20,520 words are sung throughout the show, at an average of 144 words per minute, and if HAMILTON were sung at the pace of other musicals, it would take four to six hours to perform.

• The rap in the show’s 18th track ‘Guns and Ships’ is considered to be the fastest song in musical theatre, with an average of 6.3 words a second.

• The technical equipment suspended over the stage (lights, speakers, automation etc) weighs around 19 tonnes, which is the same as about 6 adult African Bush Elephants.

Groups account handler Ross Finbow recently saw TITANIQUE Read on to find out what he thought of the show…

Have you ever wondered what Titanic would have been like if Celine Dion had narrated it and been in practically every scene? Have you also ever wondered what it would be like if the main characters had been classic comedic types from pantomime and commedia dell’arte? You haven’t? To be frank neither had I and had you told me you had then I would have thought you were quite mad. Fortunately for us and our sanity Marla Mindella, Constantie Rousouli and Tye Blue did ask those questions and created the brilliant barnstorming musical that is Titanique.

This is a modern musical comedy that mixes some of Celine Dion’s hits with cabaret comedy, satire and quick-fire jokes that will leave you

gasping for air. I was not sure what to expect when I went to see it the first time and as someone who saw Celine Dion twice in the 90’s, I was apprehensive to say the least.

My apprehension and hesitancy were blown away after 5 minutes. The singing was incredible, particularly Celine who at one point was lying down belting out all in heels and a split sequined dress. A-MAZ-ING darlings.

If you love physical and musical comedy, drag culture, seriously there is a drag race lip-sync battle to see who gets in the lifeboats, and want to hear the best Celine Dion act in town then this show is 100% for you.

All the best scenes and classic lines from the movie are there. The hand on the car is hilariously executed as is the door that Rose floats on but, spoiler alert, not Jack. Apparently, he couldn’t fit on it.

By far and away my favourites in the show are the dastardly Cal who has a singing voice par excellence, and Ruth who is Rose’s evil mother. Their solo stand up segment in the show is sensational and I never wanted it to end.

To summarise, I LOVE LOVED LOVED it and having seen it twice already, I can’t wait for my third viewing. Joining the cast next is Tom Allen who is starring for 6 weeks only from the 4th of March so get your group together and get in touch with us to get your tickets. You will not be disappointed.

A Mirrored Monet comes to Charing Cross Theatre or a strictly limited run!

Based on letters, articles, diaries of Monet and other artists and writers of the period

Paris, 1916. The painter Claude Monet struggles to complete his government commission, The Water Lilies. Esteemed his greatest work, to him it means regular deliveries of food, fuel, wine, and cigarettes – hard to find during the war. He is suffering a creative block, and worrying that unless he can paint as before, the lifeline of deliveries will cease. He searches for answers, taking us back to his young artist days in late 19th century Paris with his compatriots Renoir, Manet, and his model and first wife, Camille Doncieux. Similar to 2023, Monet lived in a world shot through with violence and chaos, at war with itself and everyone in it.

In this dramatic musical by composer/lyricist/dramatist Carmel Owen, the audience finds Monet in his Giverny artist’s studio working on what will become his greatest series of paintings. As the front line of WWI advances, the artist escapes to his memories and we are transported through the cafés and salons of late 19th century Paris. With a story based on letters and diaries of Monet and his contemporaries, The Charing Cross Theatre will transform with beautiful music and projections of the era to transport audiences to France’s Belle Epoque.

A MIRRORED MONET is a work some years in development and was premiered at Greenside’s Emerald Theatre at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe 2023. The script received a first reading in April 2022 at the Dramatists’ Guild Foundation in New York City, and its premiere production in Edinburgh was led by a Scottish creative team and cast.

The familiar 19th Century Spanish cigarette factory becomes a greasy 1950’s garage-diner in the American Mid-West where the dreams and passions of a smalltown are shattered by the arrival of a handsome and enigmatic stranger. Fuelled by heat and desire, the inhabitants are driven into an unstoppable spiral of greed, lust, betrayal and revenge.

Matthew Bourne’s vivid storytelling combines with one of the most passionately dramatic scores ever written, with music by Terry Davies featuring Rodion Shchedrin’s Carmen Suite (after Bizet’s Carmen), to create a dance thriller like no other.

THE CAR MAN will ignite your senses and leave you breathless.

Groups account handler Thersa Baker recently saw SHADOWLANDS. Read on to find out what she thought of the show…

As a big fan of CS Lewis’s fiction, and non-fiction writings, I was excited to see one of the first performances of SHADOWLANDS at the Aldwych Theatre in early February. Knowing this new production was a sellout success at the Chichester Festival Theatre in 2019 and Hugh Bonneville would be reviving his lead role as CS Lewis, I knew we would be in for a treat with the play’s transfer to the West End.

Set in 1950s Oxford, the play tells both the uplifting, and heartbreaking, story of CS Lewis. We first meet ‘Jack’ (as CS Lewis was known) as a committed bachelor living with his brother, Warren, amongst a network of Oxford academics. When the American poet Joy Davidman arrives in Oxford with her young son, Jack opens up first his home and then friendship to support her. As their relationship deepens, Joy is sadly diagnosed with terminal cancer. The heartache of losing Joy causes Jack to initially question his longstanding Christian faith but as he journeys through his grief, he is enlightened to understand that the pain of loss is a necessary part of the joy of love.

Both Hugh Bonneville and Maggie Siff are outstanding as Jack & Joy and together with the whole cast deserved their standing ovation. For me, SHADOWLANDS was the perfect combination of biographical history, storytelling, and a beautiful love story - all teaching us how to find meaning and comfort in life’s pain and loss.
