Dear Sorors,

MESSAGE from the Basileus

Honoring Our Heartbeats: A Mother’s Day Tribute to Love, Legacy, & Sisterhood

Happy Mother’s Day!

Sending warm and loving wishes to all mothers those who walk beside us each day, and those whose memories forever live in our hearts. Whether you are a mother, mother figure, grandmother, auntie, or guardian, your nurturing spirit, unwavering strength, and enduring love continue to be the foundation on which our lives and our sisterhood are built. SororLynetteK.Brooks

We celebrate you not just today, but always We honor your sacrifices, your wisdom, and the way you lead with love For those of us who hold the memory of a beloved mother or maternal figure close, may this day also be a gentle reminder of their everlasting influence in our lives.

Last month marked a special occasion of unity and celebration. We held our annual joint chapter meeting with our phenomenal undergraduate members of Iota Beta Chapter and Tau Kappa Chapter a beautiful expression of intergenerational connection and shared purpose. Together, we shared chapter updates, packed CHIPP bags, and fellowshipped over a meal but we also celebrated our bond the AKA way: with joy, sisterhood, and a little footwork!

The highlight of the afternoon? Watching Sorors hit the floor line dancing to “Boots on the Ground” and popping fans a perfect reminder that while we are about service and leadership, we are also about fun and fellowship.

MESSAGE from the Basileus

In addition, we proudly welcomed Iota Beta Chapter’s 24 newest initiates with open arms and joyous hearts on Sunday, April 13th. Congratulations to Soror Antoinette Morehead and the entire GAC for your dedication and diligence in ensuring a smooth and timely process.

As we move through this season of reflection and gratitude, let us continue to support, uplift, and celebrate one another. Whether you are a new mom, a seasoned matriarch, or carrying the love of a mother in your heart know that you are cherished.

You are the heartbeats of our homes and our chapter.

Happy Mother’s Day, Sorors. May your day be filled with peace, joy, and the beautiful sisterhood that connects us all.

With deep appreciation and sisterly love,

Lynette K. Brooks

“A Season of Forgiveness”

Romans 12:2

“Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God what is good and acceptable and perfect.”

The concept of mindfulness, particularly in relation to being aware of God’s presence, is the need to guard one ’ s heart and mind. It encourages us to pause from daily activities to focus on God and be in HIS presence. It allows for reflection and a deeper understanding of God’s nature.

Mindfulness practices involve observing thoughts and emotions without judgement or reacting impulsively, focusing on positive and life-giving thoughts rather than being scattered or distracted. It encourages cultivating a more grateful and compassionate mindset, enriching our relationships with God and others.
