Getting “Above it All!” in Albuquerque was a fun and unforgettable experience for many of us! Your President, along with Vice President Daniel Ivey-Soto, JD, CP-T, PRP, taught a fun and informative public workshop on Tuesday morning in partnership with the New Mexico Society of Association Executives. This was a GREAT model for future public workshops: AIP provided teaching and materials, and NMSAE handled promotion and publicity. Even with a late start and limited promotion, AIP netted almost $1000 from the event! Plans are already underway for a similar event next year in Tampa. (More on Tampa below!) An informative and interesting Business Development Institute was held the next day under the capable direction of Craig Henry, CPP-T, PRP. Featuring the results of the AIP Professional Services Survey, the BDI was well-received! Watch future issues of the Communicator and the Parliamentary Journal for more information on the survey and results! The Annual Session itself was a fun and lively event, as well. Passionate discussion of various bylaws proposals, as well as a rousing discussion of the audit committee report, were highlights. Officers and Directors were

elected and are listed, along with the Department Directors and Standing Committee Chairs, elsewhere in this issue. Two particularly important changes to the Bylaws and Standing Orders were adopted which will have lasting impacts: • A Communications Department was created to coordinate communications for AIP; the first task of this new Department is the design and development of an updated website. Contact Larry Cisar, PhD, CPP-T, RP, for more information. • The Youth Activities Committee was given approval to grant scholarships in the form of membership dues waivers to participants in national level youth parliamentary procedure contests of organizations approved by the board of directors. The first of these organizations approved by the board was the National FFA Organization. Contact Al Gage, CP, PRP, for more information. Other key highlights were fundraisers for the AIPEF: Dick Weber, CPP-T (Ret.), donated his personal library to AIP, and items from that library were shared with members through silent auctions, live auctions, and a “grab box” of items available to members continued on page 3 AIP Communicator
