Innovative Wins 2013 Award For Community Economic Investment St. Croix, St. Thomas and St. John, USVI- May 15, 2013– On Saturday, May 11, 2013, the St. Thomas – St. John Chamber of Commerce hosted the 2013 Annual Awards Banquet “Spring Floral Spectacular” at the St. Peter Greathouse and Innovative’s efforts and employee contributions were recognized twice during the evening. Innovative was presented with the prestigious Award for Community Economic Investment and Innovative employee Lena SteeleWilliams was one of the recipients of the Wilbur “Bill” LaMotta Community Service Award. Innovative, the only telecommunications provider that has the full-suite of services in the Territory, was recognized for the unprecedented level of investment with the on-going modernization of the entire network and its community service efforts. The Award for Community Economic Investment was established in 1999 to recognize an individual or corporation’s capital investment in the territory. Awards for Community Economic Investment are given to a company that shows a sincere and committed investment in the economy and future of the Virgin Islands. Williams, Director of Central Office Engineering for Innovative Companies, was recognized for her tireless community activities that focus on children. She is especially known for developing and supporting programs that encourage girls to embrace science, technology, engineering and mathematics. Established in 1983, the Wilbur “Bill” LaMotte Community Service Award recognizes the outstanding contributions to the U.S. Virgin Islands of public officials and private citizens whose achievements reflect the commitment and dedication exemplified by the life and work of businessman, civic leader, renowned Caribbean composer and musician. Michael D. Soileau, Sr. Vice President of Sales, Marketing, Employee and Customer Experience accepted the award and stated, “Tonight, on behalf of the Innovative family of companies and its employees, I cannot express how proud we are of our accomplishments over the last three
years. We are even more proud to be named the recipient of the 2013 Award for Community Investment. This award says to our Innovative family of over 450 employees that the community in which we live, work and support appreciates our efforts. Innovative is gratified to be the premier provider of telecommunications services and one of the largest employers in the Territory but more importantly we see ourselves as an enabler of economic progress and a major supporter of community development throughout the Virgin Islands.� Soileau concluded by expressing his gratitude to the St. Thomas- St. John Chamber of Commerce for recognizing individuals who are passionate about community service and economic development. This is the second time in 18 months that the Chambers of Commerce in the Virgin Islands have recognized the Innovative Companies. On November 5, 2011, Innovative was awarded the St. Croix Chamber of Commerce Business and Professional Excellence Award for Business of the Year.
