...about Kenyetta Hopkins

A proud native Floridian and a graduate of the Pinellas County Florida School System. Kenyetta relocated to Mount Vernon in 1991, to live with family.

Shortly, after relocating to New York, Kenyetta enrolled herself at Mercy College in 1997 and never looked back. While attending Mercy College, her professor was Sergeant Barbara Duncan of the Mount Vernon Police Department. This relationship provided Kenyetta a segue into a 20 plus year career with MVPD. While working around the clock, as a single mother and with the support of her family, Kenyetta was able to successfully immerse herself in her studies. Kenyetta completed her bachelor’s degree in criminal justice (Cum Laude) along with a Paralegal Certification, master’s degree in Elementary Education 1-6 (Cum Laude), Literacy Degree (Birth - 12) and her final master’s degree in School Building Leadership with an Advanced Certificate in School District Leadership.

Kenyetta has always been a protector, a nurturer, with a love for family and children as well as a strong advocate for education. In 2015, she landed in her dream district, Mount Vernon. Kenyetta finds it such a joy to work in the community in which she lives. She enjoys teaching and working with families to build relationships through various platforms, in the classroom, educational events and extracurricular activities as well. In August 2023, Kenyetta was elevated into the role of Assistant Principal at the Pennington School under the leadership of Dr. Melissa White.

Kenyetta has always enjoyed working with the community, helping others, and creating events on her own to celebrate others and their accomplishments in life. Her desire to go over and beyond to help others, prompted Kenyetta to create her first 501c3 non-profit, A Humble Heart Foundation Inc with the mission to create opportunities to fundraise and support humanitarian efforts and initiatives that will benefit underserved communities and other non-profit organizations. Kenyetta continues to reside in Mount Vernon and is an active member of Westchester Black Women's Political Caucus. Kenyetta has no complaints as she enjoys working two amazing careers, which allow her to have the Best of Both Worlds!

From Pageant Gowns to Gala Gowns!

Atiera Jazel Hopkins born and raised as a premature NICU baby in Mount Vernon, has grown into a beautiful, well rounded young lady. Raised within the Mount Vernon City School District for a majority of her childhood up to her 8th grade year prior to moving to Florida to continue her education, Atiera had always known she was a woman of community and has always had a Humble Heart for helping others no matter the cause.

Growing up in Mount Vernon, Atiera has watched her mother protect MVPD Officers as a Communication Specialist for over 20 years. Atiera grew up over the years and developed her own love for helping others in a different way and found her passion in 2017 at White Plains Hospital with now seven years’ of experience working in the Intensive Care and Critical Care Unit as a Nursing Technician.

Atiera's passion for helping others, motivated her to work long hours as an essential worker during a global pandemic for two years. She decided to change her college major and graduated in 2023 with her Bachelors of Science in Public Health. Upon graduation, Atiera found a new calling for helping others behind the scenes and is currently working in administration at White Plains Hospital and will return to her Alma mater Monroe University in the Spring to pursue her second Bachelors degree in Nursing.

If that isn’t an accomplishment in itself, not only is Atiera a dedicated healthcare professional, a wellrounded college graduate but she’s also a woman committed to public service outside of work as a member of the Bronx Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc. Atiera has been making strides in her service for others and has continued to show her commitment to advocating and advancing the black community within healthcare, community service and international travel. Atiera is an award winning humanitarian named by the Florida Holocaust Museum, and a former 4x pageant queen and model representing the state of New York.

A Humble Heart Foundation Inc. is the product of her and her mother’s dedication for service, empowerment through philanthropy benefiting disenfranchised communities and organizations throughout Westchester.
