Our Park District Commissioners

As we move into the Winter and Spring seasons, the Arlington Heights Park District is proud to continue celebrating our 100th Anniversary. This milestone has been an opportunity to honor our history, while looking forward to the future of parks and recreation in our community.

We invite you to join us at special events that are part of this yearlong celebration, including Winter Frostival, the Holiday Tree Lighting, and our TGIF Family Dance Party. Each offers a chance to make lasting memories with family, friends and neighbors.

In addition to these celebrations, we are excited to share updates on some major projects that will enhance the experiences of our community.

The Arlington Ridge Center (ARC) improvements are underway! Highlights of the renovation include a reimagined lobby, reconfiguration of aquatic locker rooms, a new two-story addition to expand programming opportunities, two private family changing rooms and the relocation of the outdoor basketball court. These upgrades are part of our continued commitment to best maintain ARC for residents today and for generations to come.

Work is also progressing at Recreation Park. With the close of the summer pool season, construction began on the pool and bathhouse renovation. This long-awaited project will breathe new life into one of our community’s most beloved gathering places, ensuring it remains a destination for families and swimmers of all ages.

We are proud to share that Frank Lesniak, president of the Arlington Heights Park Foundation board, has been honored with the Illinois Association of Park Districts’ Outstanding Volunteer Citizen of the Year Award. This recognition celebrates Frank’s exceptional dedication, leadership and countless contributions that have strengthened our parks and community. We are grateful for his vision and service, which continue to make a lasting impact in Arlington Heights.

We are also proud to share that the Arlington Heights Park District has once again been recognized for its exceptional budgeting practices. The Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) has presented the District with a Distinguished Budget Presentation Award for the 24th consecutive year—a testament to our strong financial stewardship and accountability to the community.

Thank you for being part of our Park District community during this exciting chapter in our history. We look forward to celebrating with you and seeing you in our parks, facilities and programs this season.

The Arlington Heights Park District is governed by a Board of elected officials. The Board meets on Tuesdays at the Administration Center. Meetings begin at 6:30PM. Residents are able to attend. Visit ahpd.org for the board meeting schedule.
