On February 19, 1942, Executive Order 9066 authorized the incarceration of almost 120,000 Japanese Americans. Join storyteller Anne Shimojima as she shares the inspiring story of her family’s journey from Japan and their time in internment camps where innocent people were locked up behind barbed wire. Shimojima illustrates her talk with photos from her family and the National Archives, showing a family whose only crime was looking like the enemy. Anne Shimojima was a New Voice Teller at the National Storytelling Festival in 2017.
