MESSAGE FROM LEADERSHIP The strength of Agtegra really showed up this year! On the back of two prevent plant years we finally had a year that gave us a chance to take advantage of opportunities. It wasn’t perfect, with 20% prevent plant the year before, grain volumes in the market were still less than they should have been. However, our risk management strategies, employee strength, and approach to the market and the farmer really paid dividends in the 2021 fiscal year! We had some very nice accomplishments this year: • We grew market share in almost every major category • We had record energy volumes and earnings • Grain set volume records in a year where we had a shorter crop • The Grain Division managed risk very well going into an inverse market • Departments worked together to provide value across multiple product lines to benefit our farmers • Our third-party tender initiative has made our application fleet almost twice as efficient as two years ago • Our operations group managed grain inventories very well There are many more accomplishments, but these came to mind quickly. I hope that you, as owners, are proud of what we are becoming and what we are capable of. It is important for us to build a resilient business on your behalf and that we continue to grow to make sure we can be of assistance to you, your children and grandchildren for a long time to come. We must make changes to continue to thrive – no different than you do on your farm. That means growth, adjustments, new people at times, and doing things differently than we have in the past – but it also means being strong, stable and dependable. We are excited about this next year, but we are also nervous about the drought conditions and what it means for yield, marketable grain and demand for agronomy products. We have been working hard to make changes that make us more resilient in tough times, and we are going to have a chance to test some of those adjustments we have made. In closing, thanks for the opportunity to serve you. Thanks for the business you did with us this year – there were more of you doing business at Agtegra this year than ever before, and that was great! And thanks for your support of our team! Stay safe! Chris Pearson CEO

From Chemical Lab to Ag Career in Safety and Environmental Agtegra Director of Safety and Environmental, Beth Locken, started her college career with no idea what she wanted to major in. Her passion for science and engineering eventually led her to South Dakota State University. “I told my SDSU adviser I wanted to be an engineer but also wanted to work more on the hands-on side, which is how he introduced me to the Ag Systems Technology major,” says Locken. During college, Locken continued pursuing her interest in engineering by working for a company that made all the circuit boards for Daktronics. Her position in the company’s chemical lab eventually led her to add a chemistry degree to her academic resume and introduced her to the safety aspect of the career field. “While I was with the chemical plating company, my former supervisor had me helping with the safety side of the position because it was a very safety sensitive job,” says Locken. “We were working with a lot of concentrated chemicals, and from there it sparked my interest in safety.”

4

Soon after adding safety to her job description, an incident involving a chemical splash left Locken in charge of safety procedures, which opened her eyes to that sector of her career field even more. “Seeing how the whole process works switched my mindset on working on the safety side,” says Locken. “I realized I could still do the type of work I already loved and be able to help people and be there as a support system for them.” Shortly after finishing her Agricultural Systems Technology degree, Locken took a position as a Safety and Health Consultant for the Occupational Safety and Health Administration. During her four years as a consultant, Locken took pride in creating culture changes with organizations. “It was really rewarding to be able to provide the assistance and then to continually come back and see the culture change,” Locken says. One of Locken’s primary duties with OSHA included performing on-site consultation services and giving presentations about safety and culture to other organizations. One of those presentations led her to Wheat Growers, where she was later hired as a Regional Safety Manager. Nine years later, she transitioned into her current role as Agtegra’s Director of Safety and Environmental.

See Something, Say Something During her time with Agtegra, Locken has focused on building up the cooperative’s core value of safety within every employee and at every location across the company. This vision has led to Agtegra’s 'See Something, Say Something' campaign, which opens the door for training and awareness-building in any workplace.

AGTEGRA COOPERATIVE® WISHES ALL FARMING FAMILIES A SAFE AND SUCCESSFUL HARVEST!

“We have built our 'See Something, Say Something – Behaviors Achieving Safety Excellence' campaign around employees, and that’s why we have 70 location employees involved in the steering committees,” says Locken. “They are the ones using the equipment, and they are the ones at the locations every day. We need their insight and everyone looking out for each other.” The campaign equips employees with the proper knowledge and support to report an unsafe work condition or potential hazard. By ensuring all workers feel comfortable enough to speak up about potential safety concerns in the workplace, Agtegra can continue upholding its core safety value and keep every team member informed and alert of their surroundings. “There’s a really easy tendency to get busy and overlook something,” says Locken. “This campaign provides those checks and balances to ensure every employee goes home to their family at the end of every day.” Locken believes communication and transparency among employees helps foster a culture of safety in the workplace. Watching employees voice their ideas for improvement in areas of safety has become one of Locken’s favorite parts about her job. “I love seeing the innovation in our employees,” says Locken. “They’re the ones that have the background knowledge, and they know how ideas will be functional and how it will impact their day-to-day work.”

INTERNSHIPS WITH

Through Agtegra Cooperative’s internship program, college students gain experiences tailored to meet their interests. One of these experiences includes a summer project, which allows interns to explore different areas of the cooperative and how they might be able to impact its future. For their project, grain marketing interns Branstyn Peterson and Karly Metzinger combined their knowledge to perform data collection and forecast for the future of grain marketing at Agtegra. “Karly and I collected data to give Agtegra employees an accurate estimate of projected yield, acres planted, and a calculated production in bushels for the coming harvest crop in each county in our territory,” Peterson said. The pair of South Dakota State University students prepared a survey to collect the data they needed for the project. “A weekly survey was sent to our grain marketing specialists and agronomists to estimate both acreage and yield averages for the upcoming crop. The survey takes the current conditions into consideration and will help Agtegra plan and prepare for the anticipated bushels we will handle and ultimately market,” Metzinger said. Both interns believe that the data collected will help Agtegra provide the best customer service, plan for the future, and offer tools to help the customer market their crop. “This project will help our members by ensuring we are offering them the best customer service possible. The survey allows us to forecast for the grain we will take in and be able to direct the customer to the best place for it, at the best price possible,” Metzinger said. “It also helps Agtegra plan for which tools will be the best to market grain, given the current market and crop conditions.” Metzinger has been able to find a career she enjoys and feels better prepared for her future following graduation.

JERAD APPEL Jerad Appel started with Agtegra Cooperative in January of 2020 as an Energy Specialist, covering the Northwest region. Appel works with customers and producers to help manage their energy needs for their businesses, along with working with customers to help supply their fuel, gas, propane, lubricants, DEF, and related storage and equipment for their operations.

“Agtegra is a growing company, and I wanted to be a part of growing a bigger and better business,” states Appel. “I knew there would be opportunities to advance my professional career within the company. Agtegra has a very friendly work environment and a family like atmosphere.” Appel enjoys meeting new people and building relationships with customers. The most rewarding part of Appel’s job is when he meets a potential new customer and explains to them how Agtegra can help with their operation and their needs. "When the customer sees the advantage of working with me, trusts me to work with them on their energy needs and make the switch to Agtegra is the most rewarding thing for me." The culture of Agtegra is very community and customer driven, which is why Agtegra helps its communities by supporting local events and organizations. Getting its employees involved in the community is something Appel has always admired about the cooperative. “I am a Redfield volunteer firefighter and have served on the local Chamber of Commerce, Soccer Board, Board of Trustees for my church and school board,” states Appel. “Being involved in your own community is something that Agtegra encourages its employees to do.” 8

LEADERSHIP DUNK TANK

RAISES $15,000 +

FOR LOCAL CHARITIES

Agtegra is pleased to announce several charitable contributions to charities and organizations exceeding $15,000. The generous donations were a result of proceeds from the Leadership Team getting dunked for charity. Seven members of the Leadership Team volunteered to get dunked for 15 minutes each, with all earnings collected during their 15 minutes given to an area charity or organization of their choosing. The Leadership Team also agreed to match their earnings from their time, and Agtegra also matched these amounts. “It was a great opportunity for both customers and employees to have fun at the Leadership Team’s expense with all the proceeds going to good causes,” states Daryl Molskness (SVP, Agronomy). Charities and organizations benefiting from these donations include local FFA chapters, Darwin Sauer Family, Ty Eschenbaum Foundation, Autism Society, Muscular Dystrophy Association, and Purple Heart Homes. These donations are a component of Agtegra’s community involvement strategy to make a difference in communities and people’s lives. “Very few times in life do you get an opportunity to dunk a fellow colleague for a good cause,” explains Chris Pearson (CEO). “We are thrilled to be able to make these donations to these charities and organizations.” 10

CONTINUED COLLABORATION AMONG DIVISIONS Last year, Agtegra launched its Triple Play offer, a program rewarding customers for conducting business with multiple divisions of the cooperative. Originally featuring energy, grain and agronomy divisions, the offer has now expanded to include feed. “The program offers our best agronomy pricing and programs of the year," said Jason Klootwyk, Chief Operating and Risk Officer. “The agronomy portion of this offer pairs well with other opportunities for customers to add value on their farm, including premiums on grain sales and the ability to book feed and fuel at discounted prices.” From seed to livestock mineral, Triple Play combines several components from each of the four featured divisions. By committing agronomy inputs by the program deadlines, customers can qualify for grain premiums and discounts on feed and energy. Customers can also benefit from Agtegra’s flexible financing options, which includes delayed payment terms and Advantage 0% financing.

Jason Klootwyk, Chief Operating and Risk Officer

On the business side, Agtegra finds value in the program through the increase in business early in the production cycle, which allows the cooperative to get better pricing and forecasting as well as a more reliable supply from suppliers and end-user customers. “Anytime you have multiple business units working together on an offer for a farmer, the value proposition grows significantly,” said Klootwyk. “It adds value to the customer, and it brings in more business to Agtegra.” Every farm is unique, which is why Agtegra pulled together several aspects of production into a complete package offer with Triple Play. From livestock to energy and crops, the offer also provides a full circle value for new and existing customers alike.

Scott Kilber, Feed Division Manager

“By collaborating, we can be more efficient and serve our customers better than anyone else,” said Scott Kilber, Feed Division Manager. Each division of the cooperative exists to benefit farmers. Bringing divisions together to create maximum savings is just another way Agtegra continues to put customers first. Contact your local Agtegra Representative for more information about this year’s Acres Ahead and Triple Play Offers.

At the surface, a cooperative may look like just another business. But in rural communities, cooperatives mean something much more. Booming business • In Ipswich, Prescription Agronomics has grown in both sales and physical size. This sector of Agtegra provides growers with custom liquid fertilizer and micronutrient products that improve crop yields while lowering production costs. To accommodate the tripled growth in starter fertilizer sales over the last three years, Prescription Agronomics Manager Jon Gilbert saw a need to increase storage space at the plant. “In our busiest two days of 2021, we sent out 500,000 gallons of starter fertilizer,” says Gilbert. “Having that extra storage was imperative to keep the plant going.” Construction of this additional storage wrapped up in April, which allows for more space for both raw and finished products. Part of this addition included a loading dock and a 1.5 million gallon tank. The tank will help meet the high demand for 10-34-00, an ammonium polyphosphate raw product, during the busy starter fertilizer season. As Prescription Agronomics has grown over the past few years, new products have been developed and added to the business. The increasing demand for these products justified the need for additional storage space. “The growth of these products has been tremendous, so to meet the demand, we need to have extra shuttles of product ready to go,” says Gilbert. “This facility has allowed us to meet the demand for those products.” Supporting producers’ needs has always been a top priority for Prescription Agronomics and Agtegra. “We specialize in starting with the grower and working our way back to the plant, so we try to blend the products that growers need,” says Gilbert. “We try to provide balanced fertilizer products so the growers can maximize their bushels per acre, which increases their return on investment.” 14

COMMUNITY ASSET Supporting the community • Generating business for local economies plays an integral role in the cooperative system. As memberowners contribute to the business, they reap the benefits of the cooperative’s impact on the local economy and community. “Agtegra and Prescription Agronomics both provide a great place for employees to work in the small community of Ipswich,” says Gilbert. “We greatly appreciate the partnerships we have with our local communities, and we continue to strive to better serve our customers in these communities.”

Prescription Agronomics currently employs six employees, all of which live in or around Ipswich. Providing a stable work environment has led several of these employees to live in the community for over 10 years.

Giving back is another strong component of the company. Prescription Agronomics helps the local fire department by hauling water to area fires, donates time and labor to various nonprofit organizations, aids in fixing equipment and sourcing products and supplies for the local golf course and provides financial support to community events. Employees are encouraged to get involved in the community through additional avenues. From meeting producers’ needs to giving back to the area, Prescription Agronomics exemplifies the impact Agtegra locations can have on their communities. “As a business, we are striving for the same thing the community is: a continued drive to keep improving and doing things better than we did before,” says Gilbert. “We both want to provide a better place to live and do business.”

Ipswich Mayor LeRoy Kilber notes the impact the company and its employees have had on the community. “Prescription Agronomics creates employment for the community, and its employees are involved, which helps grow the community too,” says Kilber. As a member of the Ipswich City Council, Gilbert has seen firsthand how the business boosts the local economy. “The tax revenue generated by Prescription Ag has been great for the community,” says Gilbert. “The expansion that the company has done has led to more tax dollars for the city, which helps improve the community.”

AGTEGRA COOPERATIVE IS PLEASED TO ANNOUNCE CHANGES TO SENIOR LEADERSHIP ROLES TO ADVANCE THE ORGANIZATION

Jason Klootwyk, Chief Operating and Risk Officer

Daryl Molskness, SVP of Agronomy

Jason Klootwyk has been named the Chief Operating and Risk Officer. Jason joined Agtegra in March of 2019 and is currently the Senior Vice President of Grain Marketing and Rail Logistics. In the new role, Jason will continue to have responsibility for the Grain Division and will have responsibility for most of the Agtegra operating functions, including Regional Operations, Maintenance and Construction, Safety, Feed, Trucking, and Truck and Auto. Because of the complexities of the business, he will also take on the comprehensive strategic oversight of the organization’s risk across all divisions, in close coordination with division leaders and the finance team. To further align work across Agtegra, Daryl Molskness, Senior Vice President of Agronomy, will take on additional responsibilities in an enhanced role. Daryl will have oversight of the Aerial business, the Innovation Center, and Prescription Agronomics in addition to Agronomy. These shifts better align the agronomy and operations teams that service the Agronomy business. These moves support initiatives to develop a sustainable business that will benefit Agtegra’s farmer-owners. These changes will be effective following the Sept. 30th retirement of John Husk, the current Chief Operating Officer.

AGTEGRA COOPERATIVE ANNOUNCES CONTRIBUTION TO THE DEX: DAKOTA EVENTS COMPLEX At Agtegra, our purpose is to build a farmer-owned cooperative that is strong, stable, and dependable so that we can do things for our famers, their families, and our communities that nobody else has the motivation or desire to do. In alignment with that purpose, Agtegra Cooperative is pleased to announce it has made a multi-year commitment to donate to the construction of The DEX: Dakota Events CompleX – the new, multipurpose livestock and equestrian complex at the South Dakota State Fairgrounds in Huron. This donation is a component of Agtegra’s Community Involvement goal to make a difference on farms, in rural communities, and on rural peoples’ lives. The DEX will provide a space for over 13,000 4-H and FFA students across the state to exhibit and also expand the event hosting capabilities of the fairgrounds. Agtegra’s CEO Chris Pearson states, “So many people who are in the agriculture world today can trace their interests in agriculture back to 4-H, FFA, county and state fairs and the opportunities they had as young people to participate. This donation to the DEX helps ensure the youth of South Dakota will have a place to experience agriculture and learn to love it as so many of us before them have.” This state-of-the-art building will attract substantial investment dollars from industry organizations seeking to host local and national events at the facility. Throughout the year the DEX will also serve as a major draw for other organizations and events consisting of livestock shows, 4-H competitions, FFA Conventions, and rodeos as well as concerts, thrill shows and more, from across the country. 16

“Agtegra strongly supports our military personnel, and we are appreciative of their time and dedication to serve our country,” says Jane Kuhn, Senior Vice President of Human Resources and Communication. “It’s great to offer this benefit to demonstrate our support.”

NEW MILITARY LEAVE BENEFIT AVAILABLE TO AGTEGRA EMPLOYEES To provide more support to the men and women that serve in the military, Agtegra is pleased to announce that there will now be two weeks of military leave available to employees that are deployed or called to training to serve their country.

Hope Trana, Bowdle

Jameson Bartscher, Aberdeen

The new benefit started August 1 and will be available on a calendar year basis. Bowdle Agronomy and Innovation Center Manager Dustin Christofferson has served in the South Dakota Army National Guard for the past 12 years. Over the course of his seven years with Agtegra, he has been called to state active duty on several occasions, causing him to take time off work, oftentimes at short notice.

Dustin Christofferson, Bowdle

“The addition of the two-week leave policy allows service members to fulfill their obligations to the National Guard without worrying about a lapse in income,” says Christofferson. Bowdle Grain Operations Manager Hope Trana has served in the North Dakota Army National Guard for 18 years. As the Motor Sergeant for the 816th Military Police Company out of Dickinson, North Dakota, Trana has already utilized the new benefit after being called to report for a Command Maintenance Discipline Program inspection on weekdays already this fall.

Derek Hanson, Maintenance

“As a National Guard soldier, there are times we have to report during the week for duty or drill,” says Trana. “Before the new military leave policy, we had to choose to use those extra days of the week as a part of our PTO or unpaid leave. I am very appreciative to the leadership team and members of the board for going forward and adopting this policy.” Additionally, any service members looking to progress their careers in the military are often required to attend additional schools and trainings, taking even more time away from home and work. The new benefit provides additional flexibility for Agtegra employees to pursue such opportunities beyond their current service requirements. “With almost two-thirds of my anticipated military career behind me, this new policy gives me the confidence to continue my professional growth as a Military Police Squad Leader and as the Agronomy and Innovation Center Manager at Bowdle,” says Christofferson. “It also shows that Agtegra is committed to backing the employees who serve their country.” 17

DIRECTOR SPOTLIGHT Mike Clements has lived on the same farm northwest of Miller, SD, his whole life. He graduated from Miller High School and attended SDSU for one year before returning home to begin farming and ranching in 1971. He married his wife Carole in 1973 and has 2 children – Jenny and Dan. Jenny lives on the property close to the homestead with her husband Cory; they both have off-farm jobs and assist Mike and Carole when possible. Mike’s son Dan lives in Rapid City with his wife Angie. Mike and Carole are blessed to have six grandchildren, three stepgrandchildren, and one great-grandchild.

Mike’s passion for the cooperative system shows with his 9-year involvement within the governance of the co-op. He originally wanted to help with the decisionmaking process of our cooperative and learn more about the business aspect of what makes it run smoothly. His goal has always been to continue to help build the cooperative into one of the strongest and most admired cooperatives in the country. As an Agtegra director, Mike also serves on a number of Agtegra committees including the board risk committee, board strategic outlook and government affairs committee, the public policy resolutions committee, and two nominating committees for directors and delegate candidates.

Mike has been active on the Ontario Township board for 48 years, completed nine years on the Hand County FSA Committee including three years as chairman, and has also been a member of the Ree Heights Fire Department for the past 20 years. The Clements family raises corn, soybeans, alfalfa, milo, CRP, and food plots. Since cutting back in 2015, they can enjoy their cabin out in the Black Hills and be with family more. “Agriculture allows you to have the opportunity to manage a farm, watch things grow the whole season and then harvest that crop and be able to repeat it all again next year. It’s an accomplishment a person takes pride in,” states Mike. This past year Mike learned that you never can predict when the grain market will hit the HIGH! However, being financially sound, always looking for opportunities, growing and enjoying what you have accomplished is how he defines success.

The Agtegra board of directors utilizes committees as a way to efficiently and effectively discuss key issues and make recommendations to the full board for its review and approval process. For example, the board strategic outlook and government affairs committee is charged with focusing on Agtegra’s business strategy and strategic plan, future development, community engagement, and governmental affairs and to bring recommendations to the full board. Mike is finishing his last term as a director for Agtegra Cooperative and states “if you would like to run for a director position, it is a very rewarding experience. Running for the board of directors or delegates position allows you to take the time to see what makes this co-op run." 'If you’re not quite convinced, start out by applying for the Nonvoting Advisory Director position, which is a one year term, that way you get the feel. Then go for it!'
