Procurement for Indigenous economic empowerment, community capability & cultural expression
Murrungar means ‘to build, grow and nurture’ in the Kirrae Whurrung language of southwest Victoria.
The Murrungar artwork featured on the cover was created by Sharna Colgan-Smith, a proud Barkindji woman. It is a strong visual representation of Murrungar’s origin story and the meaning behind our name.
Green represents the hills of southwest Victoria, orange is the Darling River region (Barka) soil and black is an expression of our people. Journey lines and meeting places signify our shared journey to reconciliation. White dot circles denote extended family and a supportive community and the emu footprints highlight the emu’s spiritual connection to Murrungar. Crosshatched shapes symbolise the three Murrungar themes of Build, Grow and Nurture.
An Indigenous-led, profit-for-purpose enterprise
Murrungar is redefining how Australia’s construction, building and property services industries engage with First Nations peoples and businesses.
We procure, deliver and support building services across commercial, government and infrastructure sectors – embedding Indigenous capability at every step.
By channelling procurement activity through our Indigenous-owned supply chain, your everyday business transactions will bring about meaningful social and economic outcomes, with a percentage of revenue funnelled directly into initiatives that:
Support Indigenous employment, training & enterprise
Creating new career pathways and partnerships that grow First Nations participation in industry.

Strengthen cultural capability & inclusion
Boosting client supply chains by embedding community engagement and cultural integrity in delivery.
Track & reinvest value
Ensuring profits support Indigenous apprenticeships, leadership programs and community driven initiatives, including sport and youth development.

BUILD GROW NURTURE
As a Murrungar client, you’ll make real-world changes that have a positive impact on Indigenous programs that you can quantify and report on.
For every dollar spent with an Indigenous business, there’s a direct community impact many times that.* This means that each dollar passing through the Murrungar supply chain allows economic benefits to flow back to Indigenous communities – building a more prosperous and equitable future for all Australians.
What we do
We work with companies of all sizes in the building services, construction, infrastructure and associated industries to source and procure goods and services.
We actively engage First Peoples-owned and/or operated businesses and help build their long-term capability to participate in large-scale projects. Through these partnerships, we create new career pathways and opportunities that grow First Nations participation across industry.
We broaden access for Indigenous suppliers and enterprises while embedding cultural integrity, inclusion and social value in every project. A portion of Murrungar’s profits is reinvested into community-driven initiatives, including apprenticeships, youth leadership and sport-based development programs.
We track and reinvest value with intention, ensuring we understand the impact created.
We deliver real commercial outcomes while building a legacy of inclusion, equity and opportunity.
Murrungar helps grow and nurture lasting Indigenous capability within Australia’s built environment.
