BANNING CRITICAL RACE THEORY: WHAT IT MEANS FOR THE FUTURE OF THE BLACK COMMUNITY

History is under attack. Most importantly, the attitudes, truths, and progress regarding eradicating racial inequality are under attack, and it all starts with our children. The United States is hell-bent on erasing the truths of the past and remov-
ing white people from any type of accountability and wrongdoing through banning Critical Race Theory. Critical Race Theory by definition is so broad, that many educators where CRT is banned are struggling with what to teach and how to teach it. For those opposed
to CRT, they believe that CRT villainizes all white people while portraying Black people as helpless victims. They believe systemic racism in the United States is a conspiracy theory and that it should not be taught that the United States is inherently racist. This is the direct op-
posite of what CRT is, aside from the belief that racism is embedded in the systems that run the United States. CRT does not villainize or attribute racism to white people, instead, CRT is the study of how U.S. social institutions (e.g.,

Your money and your vote are the two most powerful tools you have control over. With early voting underway – ending on October 29 – we want to encourage you to continue to make your voices heard. Election Day is officially on November 2, and there is a lot at stake. Texans will also be voting on eight constitutional amendments. Here is a breakdown, as noted on the Texas Tribune. Proposition 1: rodeo raffles Proposition 1 would allow charitable raffles at rodeo events. Unauthorized raffles can be considered illegal gambling under Texas law. Proposition 2: tax financing for county infrastructure This amendment would authorize counties to issue bonds or notes to raise funds for transportation infrastructure in underdeveloped areas. Already, cities and towns have the authority to fund projects with this financing method. Counties would repay these bonds by pledging increased property tax revenues, but these funds cannot be used for construction, maintenance or acquisition of toll roads. Socioeconomic pathology in America Politics in American society is no longer about public service and servant leadership but has become selfish self-service. Sadly, the political culture of The GOP has devolved into Southern Dixiecrat Autocracy. This sad state of political affairs has taken American society to the other side of fear of power sharing; looking for something for nothing, White Privilege. Too many Americans have forgotten what is ultimately important in any society; especially a democratic society! Individuals can acquire money; even acquire a powerful position of leadership authority, but it means absolutely nothing without a personal relationship with GOD (TRUTH). Therefore, in all of you’re getting: “Get wisdom, get understanding: forget it not; neither de-
cline from the words of my mouth. Forsake her not, and she shall preserve thee: love her, and she shall keep thee. Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and in all thy getting get understanding.” Hence, without a personal relationship with God (TRUTH); individuals are capable of doing any and everything under the sun. Thus, such individuals should to go to the nearest police station, and vehemently request to be locked-up, because I am insane and capable of doing anything. Evidently our polarized two-party-system apparently has elected too many greedy pathological individuals who have no God conscience to high political offices, and now we are reaping the whirlwind. Apparently, these individuals think that they are going to live forever! Shame, shame on Christian Right Evangelicals and The GOP (The Party of Abraham Lincoln), because they should know better, and if you know better you ought to do better. Likewise, in the Democratic Party one or two selfserving individuals is one too many, because we all know that one
bad apple can spoil the entire barrel. Life is about priority ordering. Priorities are values. Ultimately, what individuals place their hope and trust in is an expression of their faith. Thus, hope is an expression of comfort, expectation, confidence and trust. This is why godly Americans can hope that White Privilege oriented Americans who are lost in selfishness and self-service realize the error of their ways, and cease looking back at what once was, and embrace what is. Therefore, “Seek not ye what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink, neither be ye doubtful of mind. For all these things do the nations of the world seek after: and your Father knoweth that ye have need of these things. But rather seek ye the Kingdom of God, and all these things shall be added unto you. Fear not, little flock; for it is your Father’s good pleasure to give you the Kingdom.” Seeking the Kingdom of God means making TRUTH the center of your life and God desires to help provide US with what we need, and more importantly, how to use what He provides. “We the People”: The solution to our problems While a great deal of time and attention is being given to the many sins and acts of evil by Republicans and the Ultra Right who believe that their privileges are greater than our democracy, it is important to remember that “We the People” hold the keys to our own deliverance. There are more of us than them as evidenced by the last election which placed President Joe Biden in the White House instead of a second term for Trump. The Bible says “we have not because we ask not, and when we ask, we ask for the wrong things”. Lawrence O’Donnell, an MSNBC Commentator, recently pointed out that “we” are responsible for Donald Trump being able to appoint three judges to the U.S. Supreme Court. As he indicated, it started when we, the democrats, didn’t
bother to vote in past presidential elections that allowed the Regans, the Bushes and the Trumps to be in position to stack the Court with conservative right wingers. You will remember that when Trump was running against Clinton, the Christian Right and Ultra Conservative Right were not concerned with his sexual sins, only having him in position to appoint judges to the Highest Court in the land because it would influence policy for decades to come. Now the ball is back in the court of “We the people”, if we choose to take it. We the people out number the conservative Ultra White element that would end democracy. We the people, whether Democrat or Independent, have sufficient numbers to out vote any conservative wave and laws of voter suppression are now being put on the books. It was this kind of voter turnout that elected two Democratic U.S. Senators from the State of Georgia, in spite of the Trump effort to undermine the voter turnout of the state. These parameters also extend beyond race to include gender lectures and discussions. • State actors in Montana and South Dakota have denounced teaching concepts associated with CRT. The state school boards in Florida, Georgia, Utah, and Oklahoma introduced new guidelines barring CRT-related discussions. Local school boards in Georgia, North Carolina, Ken-

teaching the truth about racism in this country has led to the oppression of white people, it hasn’t even led to taking away their privilege or any true progress in equity
for all. Whites have never faced any sort of accountability or any moral responsibility to do what’s right for all. So what is this ban really about? It’s about the hurt feelings of white, rightist, sheeplike snowflakes who are so cowardly that they would rather alter history and change the definition of the TRUTH to whatever fits their racist agenda than live up to the facts of racism like everyone else in this country. It’s also about white leftists or liberals who claim to be progressive in matters of racism but remain silent during crises such as this one because secretly they agree with and feel the same way as the right. The United States is actively and successfully trying to reverse time to a period where the marginalized have no voice. While we as Black people should
fight against these CRT bans which not only affects what our children learn about our history, but what white children learn about what is right and wrong and how they should use their privilege, we cannot depend on or trust these racist education systems and institutions to do the right thing and tell the truth. No, we have to be accountable for our own education and our own children’s future. While the truth is being banned from schools, it should be taught in the home. Our ancestors, scholars, activists have left behind so many memoirs, textbooks, literature, etc. It’s time to study them. It’s time to use them. It’s time to be proactive about our education, our history, and the future of our community. If we don’t no one else will. - AANI

Proposition 8: property tax exemptions for military families Proposition 8 would expand eligibility for residential homestead tax exemptions to include spouses of military members killed
or fatally injured in the line of duty. Currently, the exemption is extended to spouses of military members killed in action. The new eligibility would include people killed in accidental vehicle crashes or non-hostile events. This exemption would apply to fewer than 10 people per year, according to analysis of the amendment. - AANI
