HOUSTON - Tammie Campbell took a quantum leap from Alcorn State University in rural Mississippi to a nationally recognized author, social advocate and civil rights leader. After reading “Snow White” to her daughter, Campbell wanted to convey a message to her and other young girls about their inner beauty and God-given talent. This inspired her to establish the Honey Brown Hope Foundation and write the Honey Brown series that includes: Honey Brown In Search of Her Identity, a young African-American girl’s dream to become the first female president; Honey Brown Salutes Her Roots, a young girl’s adventurous trip back in time to meet her Ancient Egyptian ancestors; Honey & Sir Just Wanna Hoop, a college student breaking the gender barrier to play on a co-ed Olympic basketball team; Guess Who’s Going to the White House, a college student’s plea for the President to include Black History in American History books. To encourage readers to access the source of a healthy image, God and His son, Jesus Christ, Campbell also wrote The Spirit Within. Believing that liberty is God’s gift to humanity and everyone should be equally valued, Campbell petitioned Merriam Webster and Random House dictionaries to remove or redefine the n-word in 1991 and got the NAACP involved. Impeachment

mpeachment is a Constitutional remedy, and at the same time, a political process to remove an ungodly-immoral-President from office. Donald J. Trump’s descent down the golden-escalator in Trump Tower was a descent into the pit of hell, and he has been dragging America into that same pit. America, be very careful, lest we become just like Trump, ignorantly ungodly. Know this America, God has been seeking to save you from yourself, and ending-up in the pit of hell, because: “For the eyes of the Lord run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to shew himself strong in the behalf of them whose heart is perfect toward him.” (2 Chronicles 16: 9). America does not need another Civil War because we fought that War, and only Americans lost their lives (600,000). We need God to fight the battle if we are hell-bent on fighting another Civil War as Trump is calling that which he desires into being. Trump is absolutely spiritually and morally un-

qualified to the Presidential leader of these United States of America, as well as, the accepted leader of the free-world. The Bible warns, “A wrathful man stirreth up strife: but he that is slow to anger appeaseth strife.” (Proverbs 15: 18). Moreover, Trump’s platform statement was about a down-hill-drag into the pit of hell, not an escalator to heaven on earth. Jeb Bush stated it more emphatically: “Trump is the chaos candidate, and if elected he will be the chaos President.” How true, how true, and now, America is at a spiritual impeachment crossroads!

Impeachment Process The impeachment process was suggested by Benjamin Franklin at the Constitutional Convention in 1787 as a rational-orderly-process of removing a corrupt President. The process of Presidential impeachment is constitutionally established, and therefore, the process must be initiated in the House of Representatives as “Articles of Impeachment”. If Articles of Impeachment are passed by a majority vote (218) of the House of Representatives, the Articles are then considered by the Senate in a trial presided over by the Chief Justice of The Supreme Court with the 100 Senators serving as the jury. If two-thirds (67) of

the Senators vote in favor of impeachment, then the Senate will remove the President from office. (Reference: Robert Longley). When an individual tells America and the world in a Presidential announcement speech exactly who he is, what he is, and what he believes, please believe him/her, and then vote accordingly. America, never forget, The Office of the U. S. Presidency is sacred, not profane. Impeachment is about Presidential criminality; criminals are convicted in courts, and sentenced to jail-time. At the present time, America has no foreign policy national objectives; only Trump family objectives, crony objectives, and some-times honored Ally-Objectives, who realize Trump is shallow-minded, and fool-hearty with ungodly-blind-greedy-ambitions. A man that will do anything for profit-motives and self-aggrandizement is not a man at all. Trump is hell-bent in his ungodly desire for knowledge identification of the Whistleblower. Question: Why? The Whistleblower’s account of the telephone conversation between Trump and the President of Ukraine are identical to the written account the Office of the President released for public circulation. Therefore, the name-identification of

the Whistleblower is absolutely irrelevant; only the written Whistleblower document is of factual concern, and it aligns with the Presidential written document based upon the conversation between the two leaders. Truth based upon facts matter, not deflection. The truth, nothing but the truth is the only thing that matters in human experiences, because the truth unites, and lies divide. (Trump has told over 12, 000 lies as President). After all, every god-fearing American knows that: “Every word of God is pure: he is a shield unto them that put their trust in him.” (Proverbs 30: 5). America expects her staunch adversaries (Russia, North Korea) to take advantage of an ungodly-unwise-foolish-individual in the Office of the U. S. Presidency, but not Trusted Allies whom we share the best that America has to offer. At the same time, our Trusted-Allies should be able to always depend on America’s spiritual awareness and material generosity in their nation’s best interests, not take advantage of an ungodly-unwise-foolish-President. Hopefully, our trusted Allies understand the spiritual-mental-intellectual disposition of who is America’s President, and not seek to take ungodly advantage of America. Cont. aframnews.com

ruly America has lost a legendary figure with the passing of U.S. Rep. Elijah Cummings. As I sat and watched the news last week, and listened to different comments newscasters, reporters and politicians had to say about the fiery Congressman from Baltimore, one thing caught my attention. One of Congressman Cummings’ colleagues reflected that he was always the one in the room, or the one sitting at the table who brought the conversation back around to the American people. He continued to explain that it didn’t matter what type of governmental issue was up for discussion; the Congressman always, always reminded elected officials, that at the end of the day it was all about the greater good of the republic. Sad to say, one would think officials who

were ELECTED by THE PEOPLE, would never forget to WORK for THE PEOPLE who actually ELECTED them. But, then again, that’s Our Democracy. We MUST Understand the Black culture is and has always been comprised of strong, powerful and brave leaders who spring into action for the welfare of the community. With the same token, Black leaders have always been at the forefront speaking out and demanding respect for the Black race. So, while America has lost a precious gem in Congressman Cummings, truth is, the African-American community has suffered the greater loss. It doesn’t bother me so much that we are losing many of Our mightiest influences; what bothers me most is, THERE ARE NO REPLACEMENTS! This factor can be the very cause of the destruction of the future advancement of the Black community. We MUST Understand while we have come far, we still have not come far enough. It has been the consistent grinding and agitation of fervent Black leaders in the past and present, whose volition and dedication has made the way for us today. But if we don’t have those in place to pick up the torch after we are gone, where does that leave Our fu- AANI ture?

Ft. Worth Cop Case: Another Conviction with Many Strings Attached

n January 2019, when a jury brought back a guilty verdict against former Chicago cop Jason Van Dyke in the murder of Laquan McDonald there were loud cheers that justice had been done; namely a White cop finally tried and convicted of the murder of an unarmed Black. Nearly a year later when the jury brought back a guilty verdict of former Dallas cop Amber Guyger in the murder of Botham Jean there were loud cheers again that justice had been done; namely another White cop finally tried and convicted of the murder of an unarmed Black. The cheers didn’t last. In both cases judges ignored the demands of prosecutors for long prison stretches for both convicted murderers and gave them light touch sentences. The ex-cops would appeal, and there was absolutely no guarantee that even these sentences

would stand. In the case of Guyger the sentence came with hugs, a Bible and hair strokes from the judge and a court deputy. The convictions and the kid glove treatment both former cops got is a glaring cautionary signal that convictions of cops the rare times that happen are far different than the convictions of those without a badge and a gun. It starts just before their arrest. Police officials quickly hold press conferences and solemnly promise a thorough investigation. Meanwhile, they leak any damaging and scurrilous information about the victim they can. That’s any arrest record, any family deviancy, any drug and alcohol issues, or any other of the litany of the character assassination hits on the victims they can dredge up. There’s only one aim and that’s to paint the victim as a bad guy. The unstated but intended implication is that the cop who killed was simply doing his or her duty and is the real victim. The smear job against Atatiana Jefferson was getting into gear when police flashed pictures of the gun that was found in her home. Mercifully, it fell flat when it was quickly noted the gun was legally registered and owned and Texas is an open carry state. An embarrassed Ft. Worth police chief and mayor quickly backped-

aled and apologized that this smear was out there. The cops are placed on administrative (paid) leave pending the start or finish of the pro forma promised investigation. When charges are filed, they are given an almost laughable bail given the seriousness of the crime. They post it immediately almost always through their police union. They do not serve one day in jail after they’re charged. Their defense lawyers almost always are top guns, with lots of experience defending police officers accused of misconduct. Police unions bankroll their defense and spare no expense. When the cops are tried by a jury, police defense attorneys seek to get as many middle-class people, Whites and even Blacks and Latinos, on the jury as possible. The presumption is that they are much more likely to believe the testimony of police and police defense witnesses than Black witnesses, defendants, or even the victims. It’s a presumption that has been borne out in police misconduct trials time and again. It’s an uphill battle for prosecutors to overcome both pro-police attitudes and negative racial stereotypes. There is also no ironclad standard of what is or isn’t an acceptable use of force in police misconduct cases. It often comes down to a judgment call by the

officer. In the Rodney King beating case in 1992 in which four LAPD officers stood trial, defense attorneys painted King as the aggressor and claimed that the level of force used against him was justified. This pattern has been evident in a number of celebrated cases since then. Police claim that they feared for their lives in confronting civilians and they use deadly force solely in self-defense. This almost certainly will be Dean’s defense. Body cam footage clearly show that Jefferson inside her house playing a video game with her nephew no less couldn’t possibly pose any threat to the officer. But the “I feared for my life” is still the tried and true standard police fallback tactic. In Dean’s case, the operative words are “perceived threat” from Jefferson. Defense attorneys will twist, turn, dissect, redissect, analyze and reanalyze the footage from every earthly angle. They claim it doesn’t show what led up to the shooting, the supposed aggravating other circumstances. This tact has been used repeatedly in other instances where videos and cell phone footage catch a cop committing an abuse against an unarmed non resisting citizen. It’s still a matter of what you see is really not what you see in these cases. Cont. aframnews.com

Elijah was my friend, and he was our friend and a friend to this nation. Elijah was a man of very strong faith. His ability to call people together and to lift us up to a high moral ground was intertwined with his knowledge of Scripture, and what his parents—who were sharecroppers—invested in him. Every time he spoke, he utilized both historic and Biblical descriptive stories that would be able to show us the pathway forward. We had many good conversations on the floor of the House. I will always cherish those moments. He loved young people, which both led him to the streets of Baltimore, after the death of Freddie Gray, Gra and caused him to mentor the number of interns in large groups who were interning on the Hill. He also fought for justice for Freddie and for racial justice for our nation. There is no doubt that Chairman Cummings, who served on the Board of Visitors of the United States Naval Academy, and loved his country and it would not be inappropriate for me to say, as has been said, that he worked to the very end of his life for this nation, and thereby we know that he died in service to our nation, America, the land he loved so much. In his name, let us continue to fight for a free and democratic America faithful to her values, which provides safety and security for all of her people. - Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee (D-Tx)

HOUSTON - For over three decades William “Randy” Bates, Jr. has been on the battlefield fighting for African-Americans and minorities in the judicial and educational systems. His wealth of experience as a criminal defense attorney for over ten years, coupled with 21-years of serving on the Board of Trustees for Lone Star College; has established him as an accountable, morally-conscious advocate for public service. In fact, during our interview Bates said, “I believe

two of the most important things to a person is the day they were born and the day they discover why they were born - Years ago, I discovered why I was born and that is for public service.” Which is why Bates is hopeful in continuing his legacy within the Aldine Independent School District, where he is on the ballot as a candidate for Board of Trustees, Position 1, in the upcoming November election. Having considered Bates’ extensive resume, I asked him to help me understand his motive(s) for

seeking the position. RJ: Out of everything that you have accomplished so far, why is this most important for you to be doing it for the Black community? RB: There is a reason. The reason, I was an atrisk kid. I was in a neighborhood - when I walked out of my front door, there were ladies of the night; there was drug usage; there was crime, right outside my door.
