IS THE KKK HIDING BEHIND THE BADGE?

Just because you do not see something, does it mean it does not exist? The ugly face of racism is live and in living color, and is hiding in plain sight every day. Yes, racism is alive and well in America, and its rearing its ugly head more as the days go by, especially under the current administration which is telling racists to “standby” and be ready for action. The comfort of killing Blacks is at an alltime high, and the ar-

rogance of a badge is allowing them to do it. Cops have been attacking and killing Blacks from the start, it’s nothing different about that, but they’ve slowly tucked away their pointed KKK white sheets following the Civil Rights era. Today, they have re-emerged, cocky and more dangerous than ever, because the United States has taken a shift as leadership in every legislative branch continue to get exposed -- secret recordings being leaked,

old “Black face” photos resurfacing and Confederate flags waving proudly from dusty pickup trucks. Do you even know the origin of law enforcement -- or police? In general, throughout the 19th century and beyond, the definition of public order — that which the police officer was charged with maintaining — depends on whom you ask. Policing can be tracked back to Colonial America, where towns relied

on a “night watch” in which volunteers signed up for a certain day and time, mostly to look out for fellow colonists engaging in prostitution or gambling. (Boston started one in 1636, New York followed in 1658 and Philadelphia created one in 1700.) That origin would be for the good and safety of townspeople, but when did the brutality arise? WOLFE CITY, Texas -- A white cop has been arrested and charged with murder after shooting a good Samaritan who was trying to de-escalate an altercation outside a convenience store near Dallas. Just another murder of an innocent Black man in the name of systemic racism and abuse of power. The Texas Depart-

ment of Public Safety released a statement saying that Wolfe City police officer Shaun Lucas first used his Taser, then later discharged his service weapon, striking and killing Jonathan Price. According to documents, Lucas was responding to a call Price cont’d page 8

Don’t Drink the Kool Aid Some men and women can be put under a spell when they have a low image of themselves and their powers and talents. Charlatans, demagogues, con men are always on the prowl searching for people to dupe. They might be in the men’s room with a cologne spray and a shiny Rolex for sale. These salesmen of advancement might be in the department store parking lot with a miracle weight loss tablet or a discounted iPad in an unopened box. They know that hidden in people’s hearts and minds is a desire to get something for nothing. The salesmen with the trinkets are purveyors of hope. This is the consequence of elevating Faith over reason, that is, denying that there is a good reason for your head to be on top. Rather than believing the oncologist, many patients will fall under the spell of a Faith healer and buy worthless oils and remedies. Many will be multi-level

marketers with Ponzis. Many of these miracle workers will convince some suffering souls to throw away their back braces, walkers and wheelchairs. They will be raptured and fractured. These wolves can be in the pulpit or the statehouse. They have always preyed off sheep who are looking for a control center outside of themselves. Eric Hoffer, in the blockbuster, “The True Believer” explains that the targets of the true believer can be “chronically bored, physically disabled, perpetually ill, talentless, criminals-sinners.” Almost with exception, across cultures and political movements, these false prophets make the future the Heavenly city with streets of gold and denigrate the present world as a place full of sin. Often if you greet these potential victims by saying “it’s a beautiful day,” they respond by saying “what’s beautiful about it?” For these movements of domination to be successful, they do not need a God, but they must have a devil. In Hitler’s Germany - it was the Jews, in Rwanda - it was the Tutsis, in the present USA - it is the “China virus,” immigrants of color and Black people who allegedly want to destroy the white folks’ suburban Camelot. Many believe that

Barack Obama and Hilary Clinton are pedophiles and control a cabal of Senators and Congressmen who are dedicated “Illuminati.” They are living the Da Vinci Code and Angels and Demons. “Q“ becomes their primary source for validation. Fanatics will notice this hole in people’s soul. They will note that they have unmet needs, social and psychological. Fanatical leaders will notice that the people have wrinkles in their bellies and that their historical heroes have lost their aura. John Wayne “the Duke” and Rock Hudson have fallen from grace. I ask you to believe and empower yourselves. De Coy and I beg you to stop running from temple to temple. Stop running from ideology to ideology and undergird your mentality with reason. Stop flipping. Once you get twisted and depart from reason, once you become poor in spirit and poor in provisions to take care of yourself and family, then the soil becomes fertile for the MAGA movement. Hoffer explains that the MAGA leader will attempt to use the slime of frustrated souls to build a new world. Solomon admonishes, “surely in vain, the net is spread in the sight of any bird.” AGAIN -- DON’T DRINK THE KOOL AID!!! - AANI

Bruised Not Broken America has been bruised by the Trump Presidency; but not broken. On November 3, Godly Americans can rise up, and demonstrate to the world that Democracy is stronger than this want to be tyrant. COVID-19 is not a respecter of social statuses, and lying can kill you. Hence, lying to one’s self is the worst kind of killing. Trump tempted GOD, and the devil burned him. What else can individuals expect from the devil; other than hell? Now, Trump is boldly and brazenly pretending that he was only slightly scorched, but he was rushed to Walter Reed. He lied. Gullible Americans believe the lie. Trump has simply made it easy for them to act out what they always have believed: “the Earth and the fullness thereof belongs to Whiteness; not

GOD. America, know this, we are spiritually bruised; but not broken, because we refuse to have a national spir itual-reckoning “come to JESUS reconciliation moment.” It is well acknowledged in (2 Chronicle 7:14) that God has eternally spoken: “If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from Heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.” The biggest spiritual upside-down problem in America today is so-called hypocritical Christian leaders and Christian believers, who say Lord, Lord and run with the devil or function as the devil’s “imps.” However, they lie, and there is no truth in them. The empirical proof is in the fact that (82%) of Christian Right Evangelical hypocrites voted for Trump in spite of absolute spiritual knowledge of his transgressions-sins against GOD. Nothing was hidden concerning Donald J. Trump’s lowlife moral character. This must be spiritually said: Trump’s ungodly leadership doctrinal approach to COVID-19 is responsible for many of the 212, 000+ deaths, and over

RIP JOHNNY NASH Legendary singer “Johnny Nash,” best known for his 1972 hit “I Can See Clearly Now,” died Oct. 6 due to natural causes at his home in Houston. He was 80 years old. John Lester Nash Jr. was born in Houston on Aug. 19, 1940 to Eliza (Armstrong) and John Lester Nash. He sang in the choir at Progressive New Hope Baptist Church in South Central Houston as a child. Beginning in 1953, Nash sang covers of R&B hits on Matinee, a local variety show on KPRC-TV; from 1956 he sang on Arthur Godfrey’s radio and television programs for a seven-year period. Nash was married three times, and had two children. Signing with ABCParamount, Nash made his major label debut in 1957 with the single “A Teenager Sings the Blues.” He had his first chart hit in early 1958 with a cover of Doris Day’s “A Very Special Love.” Marketed as a rival to Johnny Mathis, Nash also enjoyed success as an actor early in his career, appearing in the screen version of playwright Louis S. Peterson’s “Take a Gi-

ant Step” in 1959. Around 1966 or 1967, Nash met Bob Marley, Bunny Wailer, Peter Tosh, and Rita Marley at a party and they introduced him to the local music scene. He became one of the first non-Jamaican artists to record reggae music in Kingston. Nash’s 1972 reggaeinfluenced single “I Can See Clearly Now” sold over one million copies, and was awarded a gold disc by the R.I.A.A. in November 1972. “I Can See Clearly Now” reached No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 on November 4, 1972, and remained atop the chart for four weeks. Younger audiences were introduced to Nash’s music with the appearance of Jimmy Cliff ’s cover of “I Can See Clearly Now” in Disney’s 1993 hit film Cool Runnings, and Nash’s original version appeared over the opening scene of John Cusack’s 1997 film, Grosse Point Blank. In May 2006, Nash was singing again at SugarHill Recording Studios and at Tierra Studios in his native Houston. His legacy will never be forgotten. - AANI

As bars reopen, don’t be a drunk fool!

We have our own special “Public Service Announcement” letting you know that, even though more businesses are slowly getting back to normal, we still need to use EXTREME CAUTION! Gov. Greg Abbott announced this week that BARS and similar establishments are allowed to reopen at 50% capacity in counties with low COVID-19 hospitalizations starting Oct. 14, and while that makes many of us smile, we have to say -DON’T BE A DRUNK FOOL! “The good news is that even with additional business openings, even with more students returning to school and more gatherings like football games, Texans have shown that we can contain the spread of COVID,” Abbott said. Abbott said bars will have to follow the same safety protocols as restaurants, such as following distance and seating restrictions, and county judges will have the

authority to opt into these openings as long as they assist in enforcing health guidelines. “They can open at a 50% capacity provided that they follow the safety protocols,” Abbott explained. “If we continue to contain COVID, then these openings just like other businesses should be able to expand in the near future.” Other businesses, including amusement parks, movie theaters, zoos, aquariums and bowling alleys can expand to 75% capacity in counties with low COVID-19 hospitalizations beginning Oct. 12. These expansions are allowed in regions where the hospitalizations are less than 15% of the facility’s capacity. The governor said Texans are continuing to help contain the spread of the coronavirus by following CDC guidelines and health protocols.

He stressed in a Facebook post that he has confidence our state is prepared for these additional openings, but we all must remain vigilant and show personal responsibility to protect ourselves and loved ones. So, YOUR lives are still in YOUR hands, which we hope you keep sanitized and routinely wash with soap. Don’t let a “night of drinking and partying” confuse your good judgment. Be safe out there and make sure that, as you toast to whatever you are toasting, carelessness won’t make it your last. Enjoy yourselves. Be responsible. WEAR YOUR MASKS. And remember, COVID-19 IS REAL!

Price cont’d about a possible fight in progress Saturday evening at the 100 block of Santa Fe Street in Wolfe City, which is near Dallas. Price was initially thought to be involved in the disturbance, but he was not. His family says he was trying to break up an altercation between a man and a woman in front of Kwik Chek convenience store before police arrived at the scene. Documents state at one point, the officer attempted to detain Price, but the Black man “resisted in a non-threatening posture and began walking way.”

October 11, 2020 Lucas then used his Taser on Price, then pulled out his gun and shot him in cold blood. Price was transported to Hunt Regional Hospital where he was later pronounced dead. Price’s family said he had been shot three times. A preliminary investigation determined the officer’s actions “were not objectionably reasonable.” Just as in other high-profile incidents where officers killed or severely injured Blacks, including George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, Rayshard Brooks and Jacob Blake, protesters took to the streets demanding justice. Now, add the citizens of Wolfe City to the

growing list. A vigil was recently held for Price, who has been described as a “pillar of the community.”

KKK cont’d you give any insecure person a position of power, but when you add flat-out racism in the mix, it’s a deadly explosion. Have you ever heard of slave patrols? Slave patrols called patrollers or paddy rollers, by enslaved persons of African descent, were organized groups of armed white men who monitored and enforced discipline upon black slaves in the antebellum U.S. southern states. The slave patrols’ function was to police enslaved persons, especially those who escaped or were viewed as defiant. They also formed river patrols to prevent escape by boat.

Slave patrols were first established in South Carolina in 1704, and the idea spread throughout the 13 colonies, lasting well beyond the American Revolution. As the population of enslaved black people boomed, especially with the invention of the cotton gin, so did the fear of resistance and uprisings by the enslaved. Their biggest concern were the slaves being held against their will on the plantations. Initially, incentives were offered to whites such as tobacco and money to urge whites to be more vigilant in the capture of runaway slaves. When this approach failed, slave patrols were formally established. Laws were put

into place to regulate the activities of both Blacks and whites. Black persons were subjected to questioning, searches, and other harassment. Slaves who were encountered without passes from their white “master” were expected to be returned to their owners, as stated in the slave code. Punishment for runaway slaves, such as whippings and beatings, could be expected. More than floggings and beatings, however, slaves feared the threat of being placed on the auction block and being separated from their families. If caught by patrols and returned to their masters, being placed on the auction block was an option for masters who no longer

wanted to deal with their “non-compliant” slaves. During these times, slaves were often neglected and mistreated despite having permission to travel. Slave patrollers had their own characteristics, duties, and benefits, apart from slave owners and overseers. Patrollers were often equipped with guns and whips and would exert force in order to bring slaves back to their owners. At times, Blacks developed many methods of challenging slave patrolling, occasionally fighting back violently. The American Civil War developed more opportunities for resistance against slave patrols and made it easier for enslaved people to escape. Slave patrol duties started

AFRAMNEWS.COM 9 as breaking up slave meetings. These slave meetings occurred on holidays, in which they would plan revolts and uprisings. Eventually, slave patrols expanded to be year-round, not just on holidays. Slowly, new duties and rights of patrollers became permitted, including: “apprehending runaways, monitoring the rigid pass requirements for blacks traversing the countryside, breaking up large gatherings and assemblies of blacks, visiting and searching slave quarters randomly, inflicting impromptu punishments, and as occasion arose, suppressing insurrections.” Do we need to go on? power of trying to control the Black man -- and developing LAWS in which empowered them to do so -- came when we were dragged in chains to this country. Now the chains have been replaced with handcuffs, the whip has been replaced with a gun... and the “slave patroller” is now called an “officer of the law.” No matter how you look at police, just like our ancestors viewed them, they are nothing more than the cowards trying to capture us for the “paddy wagons” and trying to separate us from our families...by either imprisonment or death. - AANI
