Lest we Forget Anzac commemorations around the region A NATIONAL day of remembrance, Anzac Day falls on April 25th every year and marks the anniversary of the first major military action fought by Australian and New Zealand forces during the First World War. Commemorative services are held across the nation at dawn, recognising the time of the original landing at Gallipoli. Later in the day, former servicemen and servicewomen participate in marches. These important ceremonies are times where Australians can reflect on the many different meanings of war and the sacrifice those who have served have made. Continued Page 5
