Dear Supporters,

One of the most rewarding things in the world of philanthropy is our calling to become storytellers. From beginning to end, our ability to share the stories of those in need and those sharing in their abundance is what helps bring hope and healing to our communities.

At AdventHealth Hendersonville, our promise to you is to see and care for you, the whole-you, at every stage of your care journey. Over the last year, this promise has seen our team commit itself to raising dollars to support the opening of a Level II NICU - Special Care Unit and a Cardiac Catheterization (Cath) Lab.

For the last year, it has been my privilege to share the countless stories of precious lives, just begun and of beating hearts beginning anew. And the most remarkable part – how even the smallest act of generosity saves lives!

Message from our Board Chair

As Chair of the AdventHealth Hendersonville Foundation Board, I am continually inspired by how AdventHealth team members bring our mission of Extending the Healing Ministry of Christ by helping people feel whole in body, mind and spirit — to life through storytelling. Their words and actions illuminate the countless acts of kindness that happen daily across the AdventHealth network and serve as a spark, igniting further generosity and support from individuals, groups and regional partners. We can clearly see the ripple effect of hope and healing throughout our community.

This year, stories shared by the AdventHealth team have inspired the Foundation’s support of Mommy and Me bags that provide new mothers with essentials they might otherwise go without; the vision of Colette Salm-Schmid, MC, FACS, whose community garden offers cancer patients a place to heal while growing nourishing food to share with those in need; and the acquisition of training materials for the clinical team members who will bring the new Cath Lab to life in 2026.

Each story shared by a team member reveals how service, compassion, creativity and connection intertwine to change lives. The Board is proud to champion the work of AdventHealth Hendersonville and ensure that every act of generosity and every story told serves to strengthen the fabric of Western North Carolina.

Hurricane Helene Relief

In telling the story of 2025, there is no doubt that we must pause and honor the many lives changed by the catastrophe of Hurricane Helene. With Isaiah 43:2 as our prayer, our local community and team members across our organization pulled together in an incredible show of uncommon compassion to support the needs of Western North Carolina.

Through your generosity, the AdventHealth Hendersonville Foundation Hurricane Relief Fund raised more than $400,000. These donations, which helped support immediate and longer-term needs, brought critical relief to more than 185 team members and their families. As the year began, this collective response stood as a powerful reminder of what’s possible when compassion leads and community comes together to care for one another and share in the WNC Strong legacy.

Special Events Highlights

One way our team has connected with the local community to support the launch of our NICU and Cardiac Catheterization Lab is through our special events. Whether par for the course at the beautiful Cliffs at Walnut Cove or Brights Creek, breakfast with friends or the beautiful home of a long-time advocate for AdventHealth, the generosity of our players, sponsors and community partners played an incredible role in bringing critical health care services to our community.

$25,000 awarded to purchase equipment for a Lactation Room in The Baby Place.

Henderson County Public Schools

$90,000 awarded to support a Crisis Counselor for the Henderson County Public School System.

AdventHealth Corporate DEI Council

$88,000 awarded to support a Community Health Social Worker program in the outpatient setting.

The Duke Endowment

$250,000 in partnership with The Free Clinics to expand a community network of care for lowincome, uninsured people in Henderson and Polk counties.

$150,000 awarded in support of Adolescent Behavioral Health inpatient care services for adolescent girls aged 13 to 18.

Henderson County Government

$25,000 awarded to purchase equipment for the NICU in The Baby Place.

Walnut Cove Members Association: Supporting Whole-Person Care for Mothers and Infants

AdventHealth Hendersonville is honored to receive a generous $25,000 grant from the Walnut Cove Members Association to support the refurbishment of a dedicated lactation room at The Baby Place. This project reflects AdventHealth’s commitment to its whole-person care model, intentionally designing spaces that foster an environment of compassion and healing.

The grant will fund essential enhancements, including:

• Infection Prevention Grade Loveseat & Accompanying Furniture

• Breastmilk Storage Refrigerator

• Postpartum, NICU and Breastfeeding Patient Resource Guides

• Bilisoft Phototherapy Blankets

• NICU Graduation/Going Home Board

• Nature Scene Artwork

• Sound Machine

Kenmure Fights Cancer & AdventHealth Hendersonville Advance Cardio-Oncology Imaging Care!

The Kenmure Fights Cancer program continued its commitment to cancer care in 2025 with its donation of $79,018 to help enhance cardio-oncology imaging services at AdventHealth Hendersonville. With this record-breaking contribution, KFC has partnered with AdventHealth Hendersonville to upgrade Phillips Cardiac Ultrasound machines and software to better serve both cancer and cardiology patients at AdventHealth.

Recent health care studies have found a direct correlation between patients undergoing cancer treatment and the development of critical heart problems, such as Coronary Artery Disease, Cardiomyopathy or Congestive Heart Failure. For patients whose care journey includes Chemotherapy and Radiation therapy, this imaging technology will effectively increase access to comprehensive, timely care, pre- and post-cancer treatment and ensure their overall well-being throughout every stage of their care journey! On behalf of the many patients, families and team members of AdventHealth Hendersonville we offer a huge thank you to our Kenmure Fights Cancer partners for their continued partnership and generosity.

A Labor of Love and Delivery –AdventHealth Hendersonville Brings

Neonatal Acute Care to Henderson County

Bringing together members across our local community, the AdventHealth Hendersonville Level II NICU - Special Care Unit, celebrated a grand opening on December 18. Following the historic approval of the first-ever NICU unit in Henderson County, this unit opening will bring essential neonatal care services to more than 110 infants and their families every year. Our team is so grateful for the support of our local community, and we look forward to the opportunity to serve generations of Western North Carolinian families to come!

Cath Lab Opening

March 2026

Just a heartbeat away – our team is excited to expand access to critical advanced cardiac care in Henderson and surrounding counties with our Cath Lab opening in March 2026. Through the generosity of many in our community, AdventHealth’s Cardiology team will partner with Duke LifePoint Cardiac Partners to provide nearly 250 heart catheterizations and 100 interventional radiology procedures to our local community annually.
