MEXICO

UC Riverside is one of ten campuses in the prestigious University of California system. It is renowned for student access to nationally and internationally recognized faculty.

All of our housing communities provide a collegial living-learning environment, conveniently located on and directly adjacent to UCR’s park-like campus in Riverside. Our inland Southern California location enjoys a year-round temperate climate and exceptional quality of life.

We are within an hour’s drive of world-class beaches and resorts, skiing and snowboarding, golfing and mountain climbing. Entertainment options include Disneyland and downtown Los Angeles, wineries and apple orchards, professional sports teams, live theater, and a plethora of shopping and dining choices.

You can literally spend the morning snowboarding at Big Bear Mountain, the afternoon surfing off the coast of Newport Beach, and still catch an L.A. Dodgers game that night.

And with direct train service from Riverside to downtown Los Angeles, you don’t even need a car to enjoy all the amenities of America’s second-largest city.

There’s a lot more to

on-campus housing

than just housing!

As much as going to college is about the big things — classes, exams, getting a degree — it’s also about the little things: making independent choices, making friendships, and making your mark.

Our communities are the only place you’re likely to encounter an impromptu study session in the hallway, a philosophical discussion over late-night pizza, or find common ground among a sea of strangers.

What’s more, where you live during your time at UCR will actually impact the quality of your college experience. In campus housing, activities and amenities have been specifically selected to enhance your studies and help you achieve your personal and professional goals.

Want proof?

National studies have repeatedly shown that students who live on campus are more successful

academically, are more involved in campus life, have greater contact with faculty, and are more likely to complete their degrees on time, when compared to students who live off-campus or commute from home. You can Google it!

Then there’s the human factor — our professional staff and trained student advisors — that transforms our 11 housing communities into the sort of safer, more comfortable, and more nurturing environments that help students thrive.

Whether you’re a First-Year student leaving home for the first time, a Transfer student looking to acclimate to a new campus, or a Continuing student hoping to ensure that you get the most out of your time at UCR, there’s an on-campus housing option that’s right for you.

We can’t wait to welcome you to your new home away from home!

RESIDENCE HALLS FIRST-YEAR (FRESHMAN) STUDENTS

These communities are more than a place to sleep. They are home to an abundance of services and amenities: dining venues, markets, business spaces, study areas, resident-only fitness rooms, music practice spaces, secure laundry facilities and more. Libraries, classrooms and student health services are all conveniently located nearby.

And for those seeking an even more immersive

experience, we offer a collection of housing options that include Living-Learning Communities (LLC’s) and other experiential hall communities. Read on or visit our website

In our residence halls, students have 24/7 access to a variety of programs, leadership opportunities, academic resources and professional staff — all working to help students make connections, grow and succeed...most especially during your first year on campus.

CAMPUS APARTMENTS

TR ANSFER, GRADUATE & CONTINUING UNDERGRADUATE STUDENTS

Transfer, Continuing undergrads in their second year or beyond, and graduate students engaged in graduate-level academic programs can choose from six different apartment communities located along the perimeter of campus.

Each campus apartment community has its own personality, but ALL provide a combination of independence with just the right amount of support, services and programming. And we would be remiss if we did not mention the ideal

proximity to campus facilities and resources. You’ll enjoy living on your own without actually having to live all on your own.

And while you are checking out our numerous apartment styles and price options, be sure to consider the “fit” of one of these Living-Learning Communities (LLC’s): International and domestic students alike may benefit from the world issues and diverse perspectives examined in the Global Scholars LLC. The Pathways LLC was developed exclusively for new and continuing Transfer students, while the Stride 2 Success LLC can fill a unique niche for second-year students only.

FAMILY HOUSING

STUDENTS WITH PARTNERS AND/OR DEPENDENTS

The Oban Apartment community offers a collection of one- and two-bedroom apartment homes featuring family-friendly facilities, amenities and programs.

See our website for more information about eligibility requirements, submitting an application, and estimating wait time.

WHAT TO EXPECT IN THE

RESIDENCE HALLS

ROOMMATES

Before arriving for your first year, you will have the opportunity to self-select your own roommate(s) and housing space in your MyHousing portal—perhaps a longtime friend or someone you find common ground with during the roommate self-selection process. Or, our experienced Housing team would be happy to make your roommate and room assignments for you based on your provided housing preferences.

The majority of our residence hall rooms are triple-occupancy. So you are most likely to have two roommates. But we want you to have a great housing experience at UCR, whether you have one roommate or two...or even three.

While Triple-occupancy rooms offer a bit less space and privacy, they offer a couple additional advantages, including lower cost and the chance to make more friends.

The fact is, students in triple-occupancy rooms report being overwhelmingly satisfied with their living arrangements and, if given the opportunity later, nearly all of them would choose against relocating from their Triple to a Double.

Even when matched with a student they do not know, the overwhelming majority of students (more than 97%) report positive roommate experiences. It turns out that using courtesy, communication and compromise go a long way toward creating a successful roommate relationship. Our live-in staff are available 24/7 to assist you in your endeavors.

Introducing An Immersive Living Experience

The beauty of

Co mmunity

WHAT IS A LIVING-LEARNING COMMUNITY?

A Living-Learning Community (LLC) is a hall or community specifically reserved for students with common academic interests (e.g. an Academic LLC dedicated to residents in the same major or college) and/or students who have similar interests in shared lived experiences (e.g. an Experiential LLC where personal lived experiences are celebrated and supported). Students that live in LLCs participate in specific activities that aim to benefit their personal, social, academic, and career goals.

WHY MIGHT I CHOOSE TO LIVE IN AN LLC?

LLCs provide an opportunity for students to develop skills that can support their broader success at the university. You

should anticipate to be active in your LLC through different events and discussions offered throughout your time residing with us. Discussions focus on the specific outcomes of each LLC, the intersecting themes and identities between them, as well as our overall residential experience.

HOW DO I SELECT TO LIVE IN AN LLC?

Space is limited in the LLCs and cannot be guaranteed. We recommend filling out your Campus Apartment Application or Residence Hall Contract as early as possible to secure your space.

Where prompted, you can add the LLC’s that you are interested in and then prioritize them on your application or

contract. After you’ve ranked your preferences, you will be prompted to answer a short question regarding your interest in your top choice LLCs.

When you are notified of your roommate and room self-selection time periods, plan to go online to make your selections as soon as possible. You will be able to select roommates who were also accepted into the LLC.
