COR-TEN STEEL AND ITS PROPERTIES
COR-TEN steel is a modern, expressive, highly weather-resistant material produced exclusively under licensing from the U.S. Steel Corporation. COR-TEN steel features a high resistance to climatic corrosion, which is achieved by the addition of small amounts of chromium, copper and nickel to the steel. This steel can be used unprotected in exposed environments where the steel surface is constantly affected by changing weather conditions, i.e., continuous wetting and drying of the surface. A protective layer of patina forms on the surface of this steel. The subtle brown patina on the metal surface is characterised by its practicality (no need for cleaning, repainting, etc.), its durability, and its exceptional ageing properties.
COR-TEN steel falls into two classes: COR-TEN A and COR-TEN B.
COR-TEN A: cold-rolled steel up to 2 mm thick. It is commonly used for cladding, façades, decorative small architectural elements and other products not subject to high loads.
COR-TEN B: hot-rolled steel from 3 mm thick. Used for structures and products requiring high durability and robustness and subject to high loads. This steel contains a hard slag on its surface called mill scale, which (when used for decorative purposes) must be removed in order for the product to oxidise evenly, beautifully and quickly.

COR-TEN steel
Burnt wood is a natural, environmentally friendly, yet stylish and durable material. Charring causes the pores on the surface of the wood to shrink, making it sturdier and more resilient. Wood treated in this way is less water-permeable, resistant to fire, insects and rot, and less prone to splitting or cracking. Meanwhile, it retains its qualities, naturalness, pattern and colour. The colour of the wood is not affected by sunlight, humidity, abrasion or other environmental influences
Bamboo is a unique and long-lasting solution for bespoke outdoor projects. Bamboo boards are made from treated bamboo raw material, using only oils proven resistant to external environmental influences. Unlike traditional wooden boards, bamboo has a unique structure, an extremely high material density and excellent dimensional stability. These properties make treated fibre bamboo boards extremely resilient to all weather conditions, water, rot, insects, surface bending and other forms of damage
Thermally modified wood refers to wood that has been treated with heat, steam and water No chemicals are used in the process, making it an exceptionally sustainable product that is both people and environmentally friendly. Modification irreversibly alters the chemical and physical properties of the wood, making the product exceptionally durable and improving dimensional stability and thermal insulation. Thermally modified wood is free of resins and formaldehyde, has a pleasant smell, a lighter weight and a fine texture. The products produce a warm caramel colour.
In addition to steel, we use additional outdoor-resistant, durable materials such as charred wood, thermally modified wood and bamboo in our products. These are particularly well-suited for use in our harsh Lithuanian climate, where wide temperature fluctuations are common.

Expanded COR-TEN steel sheets are a contemporary decorative material for use in modern architectural and building design spaces. These meshes blend perfectly into distinctive interior and exterior settings: ventilated façades, fences, lattice enclosures, staircases and landings, landscaping solutions as well as suspended ceilings and many other applications.
Our expanded metal mesh is available in a variety of mesh sizes, opacity, bridge thickness, sheet thicknesses ranging from 1.5 mm to 2.0 mm, and sheet dimensions of 1250×2500 mm.

COR-TEN steel façade cladding is the perfect approach in creating a harmonious, distinctive and modern façade that fits perfectly in both urban and suburban environments The various forms of COR-TEN steel cladding (vertical or horizontal) create visually exciting surfaces and façade features. Hidden or visible fixings, depending on the model of the cladding panel (lamella, cassette), add extra charm to the surface. Our COR-TEN steel cladding systems are easy and quick to install, using COR-TEN coloured self-tapping screws.
For façade cladding panels, we usually use 1–1 5 mm thick steel The thickness of the steel is chosen in each case individually, depending on the size of the sheets themselves and the corresponding method of fixing.

HOT-ROLLED COR-TEN STEEL FOR FAÇADE CLADDING

A solution that has gained popularity among architects recently is the use of hot-rolled COR-TEN steel, which is applied to the façade untreated (slagged). This is intended to create as much naturalness as possible and allows the metal to evolve in a completely unpredictable direction Under the influence of natural conditions, the metal gradually changes colour, but this happens in a non-homogeneous and case-by-case manner, thus allowing each architectural object to become distinctive and unique.
COR-TEN weather-resistant structural steel, which is as good as stainless steel in terms of its properties, is ideal for such a façade cladding solution This steel can be used without any protection outdoors, where the steel surface is constantly exposed to changing weather conditions, i.e., the surface is constantly wetting and drying. A protective patina layer then forms on the surface of this steel. In simple terms, the steel can corrode and the rust becomes its protective coating.
