Tips from our homeowners We thought we’d ask some of our homeowners for their top tips on how they are enjoying life to the full in their retirement.
Lunch with friends
Bring your pet
We all know that eating a well-balanced diet is an important part of staying healthy as you age. It can help you maintain a healthy weight, stay energised, and get the nutrients you need.
Pets are part of the family too so we are always happy to welcome well-behaved pets to our retirement communities.
“We’ve eaten in the restaurant several times, either when we’ve had people over for lunch or just the two of us. We’ve had our old neighbours over for lunch and we have friends over for coffee. I feel like a lady of leisure really.”
“One of the upsides of having a dog is that you keep exercising and you get to know so many people. It’s very sociable. There are one or two people who I’m really good friends with now because we met walking our dogs.” Mavis, Adlington Homeowner

Pamper yourself
Join a new club
Having a beautiful hair salon and therapy suite within our retirement communities provides a welcoming retreat for a little bit of TLC. In recent years, a number of studies have linked raising self-esteem with staving off some of the negative effects of aging. What better way to boost self-esteem than a trip to the salon.
In addition to making life more fun, staying socially active in retirement is also really good for you. Studies show that retirees who stay socially active and engaged experience a variety of benefits.
“I had my hair cut in our salon here last week and I’ll be having it cut once a month. I have regular massages in the therapy room too.”
“Here, you can have your privacy. You have your own apartment. You’ve got lots of people around, lots of activities, lots of fun. I think having that choice is such a big thing and you can take part in activities one day and then have time to yourself the next. It’s a perfect situation. I can highly recommend it!”
