Studio Two formed the critical development stage of my architectural master’s thesis, exploring how reclaimed post industrial infrastructure can be transformed into accessible urban green space for Manchester. Centred on Pomona Island, the project developed the strategic framework, governance model and architectural language that now underpin the wider thesis proposal. The submission explores the relationship between heritage, ecology and urban growth through the design of a public park, museum and boathouse, alongside the introduction of the Pomona Island Special Permitted Development (PISPD) framework used to fund and maintain the long term future of the site. Studio Two ultimately established the spatial, environmental and political foundations that allowed Studio Three to progress into a fully resolved architectural intervention.
