THE REALLY USEFUL STAIRCASE

Weweregivenasiteonaslope,whichweencounteredanumberof challengesthroughouttheproject,particularlywhenitcametodesigning thestaircase.Thesteepterrainimposedquiteanamountofconstraints, forcingmenadmyteammatestocarefullyconsidertheoverallform, accessibility,andstructuralintegrity.Additionally,therewereseveral restrictionsandbottlenecksrelatedtothesite'slayout,setbacks,minimal footprintandtheneedtointegratethestaircaseseamlesslywiththe surroundingenvironment,allofwhichrequiredinnovativesolutionsto ensurebothfunctionalityandaesthetic.
Thedesignprocesswas carriedoutwithinavery shortperiodoftime,we gatheredeveryonesideas andfilteredouttheones thtwerenotsuitableand combinedtheonesthat werepromising.
LIGHT AND SHADOW
Findingsolacewithintheexperienceofeczema,thisbachharnesses thefivesenses,drawinginspirationfromthenaturalelementsofthe sitetofosterinnerpeace.InfluencedbytheRonchampChapel,the designincorporatesopeningsofvarioussizes,creatingacaptivating interplayoflightandshadow.Radiatingroomsarethoughtfully arrangedtoframedifferentviews,eachofferingauniqueperspective ofthesurroundings.Asusersmovethroughthespace,everyposition providesadistinctsensoryexperience(5senses),invitingadeep connectionwiththeenvironmentandapersonalizedsenseof tranquility.
Overall,thisfinalprojecthasbeenatransformativejourney, teachingmehowtoconveymyemotionsandsensoryexperiences intophysicalspacesthatIcantrulyfeelwithin.Theprocessof playingwithlightandshadow,andunderstandingtheireffects,has revealedhowdifferentangledlightortypesofshadowradiates varyingemotionsandsensations.IgainedvaluableknowledgethatI hadneverknownbefore,whichwasbotheye-openingand enlightening.Theexperienceexpandedmyperspective,helpingme understandhowmybachcanchangeinresponsetotheunique contextofthesite.Itmademerealizehowthesurrounding environment suchasthetopography,theusefulstaircase,andthe naturalelements candeeplyinfluencethedesignandatmosphereof thespace.
ArchitectureDesignIIhasbeenathrilling andfullfillingjourneythathasshapedmy approachtoconceptualizingideas. Throughoutthecourse,I’vegainedso muchdeeperunderstandingofdesign principles,particularlyintheareaof constructiondetail,whereIlearnedmany smalldetailsthatwerenotcoveredin ArchitecturalDesignI.Thecoursepushed metothinkmorecriticallyandcreatively, helpingmerefinemyskillsanddevelopa betterunderstandingofthedesignprocess.
IamtrulygratefultohaveMs.Alinaasmy tutor,asherpatience,guidance,anduseful feedbackwerepreciousthroughoutthis course.Sheconsistentlytookthetimeto mentorme,helpingmethroughchallenges withapatientandsupportiveapproach.
