Why we love bamboo Bamboo might not be the first raw material that comes to mind when thinking of furniture. Not only is bamboo a beautiful and natural material, but it is also really strong, durable and grows extremely fast - and that combination makes it perfect for furniture. Bamboo is actually part of the grass family and thanks to the long fibres of the bamboo, it is stronger and more flexible than most wood. One of the many qualities of bamboo is its ability to absorb carbon dioxide and produce oxygen. Bamboo is also self-regenerating which means bamboo regrows from its own root system and rarely needs to be planted again. The bamboo we use is responsibly sourced as it grows in FSC™ certified plantations and is harvested after 5-6 years.

FSC-certified bamboo The world’s forests contain other materials than timber such as rubber, cork, resin, rattan and bamboo and are called Non Timber Forest Products and can be FSC certified. We use FSC-certified bamboo to ensure that the bamboo comes from responsibly managed forests where social and environmental conditions are in order. FSC™ C132796
Did you know… • Bamboo can grow up to 1 metre per day. • There are 1,200 sorts of bamboo. The one we use, cannot be used as food for pandas. • Some timber is harvested when it is around 30-80 years old opposite bamboo which can be harvested every three to seven years depending on the sort. • Bamboo generally does not require fertilizer or irrigation.
