NOTE FROM THE ARTISTIC DIRECTOR, Daniel C. Levine Welcome to Dear Evan Hansen! This is one of those rare shows that speaks directly to the heart. It is a story about longing to belong, about the fear of feeling invisible, and about the complicated, messy, and deeply human ways that we search for connection. At its core, Dear Evan Hansen reminds us that every person is carrying something that others may not see. Beneath the surface, so many people are struggling with loneliness, anxiety, self-doubt, and the desire to simply be understood. And yet, even in its most heartbreaking moments, this show is filled with hope. It reminds us that no one is truly alone and that even the smallest gesture of kindness, compassion, or understanding can have a profound impact on someone else’s life. As Artistic Director, I have been deeply moved by the emotional honesty of this piece and by the way it shines a light on conversations that are so important in today’s world. While Dear Evan Hansen has become a cultural phenomenon and a beloved contemporary musical, what makes it truly special is that it never loses sight of its humanity. It is funny, heartbreaking, relatable, and ultimately uplifting. Dear Evan Hansen also concludes our eighth spectacular season here at A.C.T. of CT. What a season it has been! Bryan is the Music Director and Arranger for notable artists like Aaron Tveit, Lauren Patten, and Jessica Vosk. Bryan was also nominated (along with Daniel C. Levine and Stephen Schwartz) for a Grammy Award for the world premiere cast recording of Stephen Schwartz’s Snapshots (an A.C.T. of CT production). Bryan holds a Bachelor of Music from NYU in Vocal Performance, as well as a Master’s Degree in Music from Cincinnati Conservatory of Music in Orchestral Conducting. His passion for music extends beyond the stage, as he enjoys teaching music in various forms to individuals of all ages, particularly through A.C.T. of CT’s Conservatory Program. Above all, Bryan firmly believes that theater matters and the arts are essential! STEVEN LEVENSON (Book) is a Tony Awardwinning playwright, screenwriter, and television writer and producer. His plays include If I Forget, Core Values, Seven Minutes In Heaven, and The Language of Trees. He wrote the book for the musical, Dear Evan Hansen, which won six Tony Awards, including Best Book and Best Musical, as well as the Olivier Award for Best New Musical. He co-created and executive produced the FX series “Fosse/Verdon,” which was nominated for seventeen Emmy Awards, including Best Limited Series and Best Writing for a Limited Series, as well as for Critics’ Choice Association and Producers Guild Awards, in addition to winning the Writers Guild Award and an AFI Award for Outstanding Series. Other honors include the OBIE Award, two Outer Critics Circle Awards, and the John Gassner Memorial Playwriting Award. He adapted Jonathan Larson’s tick, tick…boom!, directed by Lin-Manuel Miranda, for Netflix. He is a graduate of Brown University.
