What is Eyelash Growth Serum?

Eyelash Growth Serum is a liquid that you swipe onto your lash line that promises to grow longer, fuller lashes. There are many out there today, and you’ve probably seen at least one or two. Some of the popular brands right now include Latisse, Revitalash, and Babe Lash but the list goes on and on.

What does the product actually do? Generally speaking, the serum biologically extends the growth cycle so that instead of your lashes getting replaced every 6-8 weeks, they now get replaced up to every 12. That’s an extra 4-6 weeks of growth before falling out and getting replaced. An example of this serum would be Revitalash.

BEAUTY TIPS

Some lash serums help nourish and strengthen lashes, but don’t actually affect any change to the growth cycle, so make sure to do your research before purchasing. Nourishing lashes alone can help strengthen weak lashes, but it won’t give you the results of the growth-cycle altering serums.

How long does it take to see results?

At least 6-8 weeks to see any change. Most require you to use it once a day. Consistency is key, so keep up the usage even if you feel like you’re not seeing a difference right away. It does take some time, and it’s best to use the entirety of the product before deciding it didn’t work for you.

Well, allow me to inform you that the search is over, and this fantastic place can be found by simply taking a short trip across the river to Aurora. The Aurora Colony Pub has been located in the heart of the town for what seems like forever, and if you’ve ever wandered through the charming antique stores in the downtown area, you’ve definitely seen it. You may have even been there before, but if you haven’t gone recently you may not recognize it. 5 years or so ago, before Janae and Corey Barton purchased it from the previous owners, it was simply a humble local pub. After taking over, the Barton’s have revitalized, remodeled, and renovated the place, turning it into a much more family-friendly 10 • WILSONVILLE LIVING MAGAZINE • NOVEMBER 2020

establishment. Of course, the full bar and all of the usual pub activities and games are still available, but until 9:00pm kids and families are able to enjoy the establishment as well. As the regular customers who have frequented the pub for years will attest, it’s always been known for great service, great drinks, and a friendly atmosphere, and they certainly haven’t lost any of their regulars due to the upgrades. They’ve simply improved upon every aspect of the business in the hopes of bringing in a wider customer base. For starters, they’ve added a lot of amazing food to their already great menu. They still have all the traditional favorites that the pub had a reputation for, including their legendary made-from-scratch clam chowder, halibut fish and chips, fried razor clams and oysters, burgers, and hot sandwiches. To give their customers even more to choose from, they are very excited to announce their brand new commercial broaster! This is not a common piece of equipment in most pubs, and there are very few places in the area where you can get the delectable

broasted chicken. The broaster works by deep-frying and pressure cooking simultaneously, which gives the chicken a nice crispy coating outside while maintaining all the natural moisture inside. If for no other reason, you must stop by to taste this culinary treat; I guarantee, though, that you’ll want to come back for more. If for some reason the tantalizing aroma of the broasted chicken doesn’t have your mouth watering when you walk in the door, why not try out one of their new pasta selections? Choose from homemade Spaghetti, Triple Mac and Cheese, or the Pub Fettuccini Alfredo, each made from scratch with fresh ingredients. They also have some amazing weekly specials, such as All You Can Eat Spaghetti Mondays, Taco Tuesdays, and Prime Rib every Saturday night. This rises far beyond your standard pub fare!

For those who may be watching their diet or have a sensitivity to gluten, don’t worry about missing out. Another new addition that has quickly become one of their more popular items is the Bacon and Cheeseburger Salad. Intrigued? Simply take all of the same delicious ingredients of a standard bacon cheeseburger, nix the bread, serve it on a bed of fresh lettuce, and voila! You have a lighter and yet equally satisfying meal to enjoy. There’s also a whole slew of other delicious entrée salads to choose from, and they even offer gluten-free buns and beer. The Aurora Colony Pub is a local favorite that you won’t want to miss out on. Bring the whole family in for an awesome meal, then stay to explore the town. INNOVATIVE DANCE W I L S O N V I L L E SHAKE YOUR GROOVE THING!

e all love to dance, right? Ok, maybe not all of us want to “shake our groove thing” in front of other people, but most of us probably enjoy dancing at some level - it’s only natural! A great song comes on and your head bops, your foot starts tapping; it’s happened to all of us at one time or another, and really it’s almost an involuntary reaction. Dancing not only makes us feel good, but it’s a way of expressing ourselves.

Molly believes that sportsmanship and grace are just as important as technique, so in her lessons she ensures that students are learning life lessons in addition to expressive artistic skills. A positive attitude, poise, kindness, and a strong work ethic are all instilled in the students at Innovative on a daily basis. That said, Molly is highly sensitive to age-appropriate behavior, and her goal there is to strive for excellence while maintaining balance and allowing kids to be kids.

Innovative Dance in Wilsonville is not only the perfect place to express yourself through dancing, but also to learn how to do it really well! Molly Kaleikilo, owner and Artistic Director (as well as Director for the Performing Company), has been working tirelessly with her team for over twenty years now to develop a program that provides positive, professional instruction of the highest caliber, in a fun and safe environment.

It’s all too common these days for reality shows and movies to give people the wrong impression of what dance schools are all about. Molly wants to assure the community that her instructors are all serious and sincere professionals, and that her students are all expected to dress, act, and dance age-appropriately at all times. For the advanced students, it is emphasized that (like any other highly developed skill) dance is a top priority that requires dedication and commitment, but that balance in all things is equally important.

It’s clearly evident in speaking with Molly that she truly loves what she does. Her enthusiasm for all types of dance (and particularly for teaching dance) is inspiring, and the company has really made an impact on the community. t’s hard to believe, but The Most Wonderful Time Of The Year is right around the corner! We’ve all had so many distractions and difficulties this year, it’s probably been a bit difficult to think about the holidays and what they’re even going to look like. Are we still going to be able to have our traditional family gatherings? Are we still going to have all of the fun hustle and bustle of shopping and holiday markets? So many of our favorite time-honored traditions have either been modified to be nearly unrecognizable or outright forfeited this year, of course we’re all concerned about being able to enjoy the holiday season in any sort of way that feels familiar and comforting. Well, our friends at Frog Pond Farm are right there with us, and they want to do everything in their power to make sure this season has just as much magic, love, and joy as usual! Hopefully you were able to make it out to the farm in October and delight in their Pumpkin Patch Farm Safari extravaganza. Justin Timm and his whole family put in a tremendous amount of time, money, and energy to modify their usual set-up there so that we could all enjoy our regular family-friendly fall festivities in a safe

That’s a great question with a simple answer: by going back out to see them to pick out the perfect tree at their Christmas Tree Farm, and check out their cute little store loaded with beautiful, locally-crafted seasonal wares! For all of you who’ve made this a part of your annual Christmas traditions, there are a few slight modifications this year. But fear not, Justin and his family are once again going above and beyond to provide you with the most authentic Country Christmas they can while abiding by CDC and state guidelines. If you haven’t been out to Frog Pond Farm before, just know that it’s the best place to go in the area to get the most beautiful locally-grown Christmas trees. They have a wide selection of pre-cut trees in many varieties, including Noble Firs, Douglas Firs, Nordmann Firs, and others. They will be fully staffed with friendly farmhands who can help you pick out your tree, give it a fresh cut, shake it, and bale it (wrap it up tight for the trip home). For those of you who are not interested in getting out of your cars

and exploring the grounds, they will have curbside pick-up available, and they are also offering a delivery service within the Portland-metro area, but please make sure to call the farm staff ahead of time for details if that interests you. If you do visit the farm in person (and you really should), once your tree is picked and packed, be sure to visit their fantastic Country Christmas Store. Inside you will find gorgeous, elegant, and hand-crafted ornaments, as well as toys, gifts, and seasonal decor. Many of the items are provided by local artists, and this isn’t the kind of stuff you can find just anywhere. The entire experience of visiting a tree farm for

the holidays is one that people drive hundreds of miles out into the country to find, and yet we have it right here in Wilsonville. Lucky us! And last (but by no means least) they have animals! In similar fashion to what you saw at their Pumpkin Patch Farm Safari in October, they are having a safari-style animal viewing in December. They’re still working out some of the finer details on that, but rest assured that you and your family, as in years past, will still have a chance to visit the animals this Christmas season.

2020 has been a rough year for all of us, and there’s seemingly been very little to celebrate. It can be very difficult to keep our heads up when so many things around us seem to be pushing us down, but call me an optimist! I think we can finish this year stronger than ever if we remember the things that really matter. Let’s enjoy those simple pleasures of the season with our families, and let’s come together as a community and appreciate the true meaning behind all that we celebrate this time of year.

Turkey & Wild Rice Soup

DON’T THROW OUT THAT TURKEY CARCASS! Once the Thanksgiving feasting is done, use it to make the broth for this delicious & nutritious soup. INGREDIENTS 1/2 cup butter, cubed 2 carrots, finely chopped 2 celery ribs, finely chopped 1 medium onion, chopped 1/2 cup all-purpose flour 4 cups turkey broth (or chicken or vegetable) 2 cups cooked wild rice 2 cups cubed cooked turkey 2 cups half-and-half cream 1 teaspoon dried parsley flakes 1/2 teaspoon salt 1/4 teaspoon pepper

DIRECTIONS In a Dutch oven or large pot, heat butter over medium-high heat. Add carrots, celery and onion; cook and stir until tender. Stir in flour until blended; cook until bubbly. Gradually stir in broth. Bring to a boil, stirring constantly; cook and stir 1-2 minutes or until thickened. Stir in remaining ingredients; return to a boil. his is the time of year when we usually gather together with friends and family to reminisce about times past, celebrate our wins of the year, share the burden of our losses, and of course give thanks. It goes without saying that this year has been an especially difficult one, but here’s the thing: we still have something to be thankful for. If nothing else, this year has taught us to appreciate the simpler things in life, such as the mere fact that we have a roof over our heads and food on the table. The struggle to maintain even those simple things for some in our communities has brought it into stark relief how fortunate we generally are on a daily basis. So it is in that spirit of appreciation, of giving thanks, that Sherine and Jaimy of Beltran Properties Group want to thank you, their clients and community members, for sticking with them through these challenging times. For the Beltrans, showing their gratitude is not simply a once-a-year kind of thing. It’s a way of life, and in years past they have thrown some extravagant customer appreciation parties as a primary way of thanking their clients.
