Cause and Effect

WaterEnergy

Adam has a water turbine that collects water and makes energy to power houses in towns people live in.

You might think it is not harmful but it is. it can get in the way of migrating fish like salmon, steelhead trout and sturgeon. The dam that powers your house could make sturgeon go extinct. 3

Water energy in the book powered by water the text says,”Earth is known as the water planet for a reason”.Water is one of the planet’s most abundant natural resources. Water is also a renewable resource. It is a useful material that is replaced quickly in nature .Also, one way water moves is there is a cycle that is over the Earth’s land surface that makes water travel above earth’s surface. 4

Solar Panels are

Have you ever wondered how solar panels power houses in your town? This is how. There are 3 main steps that are taken to make electricity.

First, large solar power plants also known as solar farms use special mirrors to collect the sunlight and direct it to water or other liquid.

Second, the heat of the sun warms the water and when it gets hot enough it becomes steam. Last, a power plant uses this steam to spin turbines. Turbines are basically huge fans. When they spin, they make electricity. 5

MISSION GREEN EARTH VS POWERED BY THE SUN

When you compare the books you find out the things that are similar between the two books and the differences from the books. They both talk about reusable resources and energy that doesn’t cause pollution. These kinds of energy also help the earth. Also, these things are both easy to do.

When you are contrasting the books you'll see that some things that are different between the books are that one talks about nuclear energy and the other one talks about natural energy. Also in one book it talks about how back in the day people used wood to burn and boil water but in the other book it talks about underwater turbines. Solar energy's problems and solutions

There are many disadvantages to using solar energy. One being that you can’t use it during night or cloudy days, because the sun is not out during the night, and on cloudy times because at night, the sun isn’t there at all and clouds can block the sun from getting it’s sun rays to earth. But there are many things to make up for that! One is that the sun is only out during the day, and the day is longer than the night. Also, the sun covers a large radius, which can put it’s bright rays on solar panels from miles away!Athird thing is that it takes only 8 minutes for the sun's energy to reach earth, which is insane! The sun’s energy is also very effective. Back in 1861, they were able to print 500 copies of paper in 1 hour using solar energy! The sun’s energy can be passed on too.The process is:Aplant gets hit by the sun’s rays. Then, an animal can eat it. Finally, more animals can eat eachother to collect the energy from them and it goes on.As you can see, using solar energy is a good idea!

Glossary

(Reusable resources are natural resources that can be replenished naturally and not by humans)

(Nuclear energy refers to the energy produced from nuclear reactions, which can be obtained through nuclear fission, nuclear decay, and nuclear fusion. The majority of nuclear power is generated by the fission of uranium and plutonium in nuclear power plants)

( Natural energy means energy from natural stuff like wind, sun, and water)(Turbines:Aobject that spins rapidly to make energy and electricity) (Dam: a big barrier blocking water from flowing to a certain place) (Migrating: When a group, flock, or pack of something traveling to a place far away. It usually happens when a creature needs to move to a warmer spot)
