Message from Chair, Board of Directors With rising operational costs, the threat of harmful legislation and the uncertainty of government funding, New York’s engineering firms are facing historic challenges today as they focus on reshaping and reimagining the built environment around us.

As Chair of the Board of Directors this past year, it has been my honor to meet with elected officials and government leaders to highlight the importance of our profession and the need to support our work through sound policy and consistent infrastructure funding. Being a part of ACEC New York means becoming an industry advocate. Every member has a role to play – whether in the office, on the phone or in the field. We must use our voices, share our expertise and make the case for the vital work we do – because the future of our industry is too important to leave to others. The FY2026 Annual Report is an important part of that effort, outlining how ACEC New York advances the interests of its member firms and delivers results on their behalf. Thanks to the diligent work of President and CEO John T. Message from President and CEO The work of engineers is so successful that it is often overlooked by New Yorkers. From the construction of new underground tunnels to the repairs of our water systems, engineering firms play a critical

role in enhancing the quality of life for millions of New Yorkers, supporting the local economy and spurring job creation statewide. All of the designing, calculating and planning is quietly performed, rarely noticed by the general public but absolutely essential to the success of any major infrastructure project. And that’s where ACEC New York comes in. Our role is to showcase the work of our 300 member firms, meeting with elected officials, government agency heads and community leaders to illustrate the remarkable impact of our industry. Our goal is to ensure engineers are at the forefront of the conversations that matter most. This year, we confronted major issues at home and across the nation, joining forces with other industry organizations to push for more reliable infrastructure funding and reduced tax burdens on our member firms. Our team traveled thousands of miles, mailed dozens of letters and hosted hundreds of discussions to bring together industry executives and government leaders to identify the most pressing issues facing our businesses today. We engaged media outlets, raised awareness on social media and delivered educational sessions to ensure members have the latest training. This 37-page Annual Report outlines all of these efforts, giving a greater voice to our members while reinforcing our commitment to this dynamic industry. None of this would be possible without the hard work of the ACEC New York staff, as well as the support of our Board of Directors, and I would like to thank all those who contributed to the creation of the pages of this report. Advocating for Our Industry Metro Region With a new mayoral administration, a new comptroller, new City Council leadership and shifting agency priorities all taking shape this past year, ACEC New York has led the industry’s dialogue with policymakers to make sure they understand the essential role that engineering firms play in today’s world.

Our team has continued to advocate for a robust capital program in the City, emphasizing that sustained investment in infrastructure and buildings is critical to public safety, economic growth and long-term affordability. At the same time, our organization is pushing for reforms that streamline City processes and accelerate project delivery by simplifying approvals, modernizing procurement practices and reducing administrative burdens that delay the delivery of public works. Procurement and contracting reform remain major priorities for ACEC New York. As a result, our staff have advocated for faster contract and change order registration timelines, including asking agencies to pilot Contingency Funding mechanisms for design contracts as a tool to expedite project delivery. We also are urging continued city investment in the PASSPort procurement platform to improve transparency, modernize consultant and agency interactions and help firms receive payment more efficiently. ACEC New York is engaged on legislative and regulatory issues impacting the practice of engineering in New York City. We have continued our longstanding involvement in Building and Construction Code development, advocating for safe and innovative codes as agency leaders balance emerging energy technologies, sustainability initiatives and affordability goals. In addition, we have promoted Alternative Delivery Methods such as Progressive Design-Build, while strengthening our relationships and collaborative efforts with agencies and public-sector partners. With a strong committee structure, policy engagement and direct advocacy efforts across the New York City region, ACEC New York is working to ensure that the consulting engineering industry remains highly involved in shaping public policies, procurement practices and infrastructure decisions that define New York City’s future.

NYRIC D.C. FLY-IN 2026 LOBBY DAY In April, ACEC New York joined its allies in Washington D.C. as part of the New York Roadway and Infrastructure Coalition (NYRIC) fly-in. ACEC New York President and CEO John T. Evers, PhD and the NYC Director of Government Relations Taylor Palmer met with members of the New York Congressional delegation to advocate for a new five-year Surface Transportation Reauthorization bill that meets New York’s infrastructure needs. Advancing a fair and robust reauthorization at the federal level will be crucial to providing the investment needed for the next five-year NYSDOT Capital Plan.

Elevating Our Professionals The ACEC New York Leadership Institute develops the future leaders needed to grow engineering organizations and create a more vibrant, dynamic and profitable place to work. Throughout the year, ACEC New York also offers Professional Development Hour (PDH) courses of continuing education, our organization can approve courses for certification acceptable for engineering, land surveying, architectural and geology credits. In 2025-2026, we hosted 34 PDH-approved courses and trained over 1,800 professionals. Courses were held as live events, sessions at conferences, webinars and included our annual credit-worthy tour of a project site. This year, members toured the most urgent passenger rail infrastructure project in the nation, Gateway Development Commission’s Hudson Tunnel Project (HTP). Once complete, millions of commuters will benefit from reliable, modern rail service between New York and New Jersey. Continuing education programs not only maintain the licensure of New York’s engineers, but they also provide an opportunity for the AEC community to celebrate successes and foster the next great innovations together.

2026 Winter Conference • Rescheduled for late February due to inclement weather, the Winter Conference remained one of the top events of ACEC New York’s educational and networking calendar. Held at the Renaissance Albany Hotel, the Kenmore Ballroom and the Albany Capital Center, the two-day event drew hundreds of engineering professionals and exhibitors, as well as state agency leaders who presented exclusive information on capital programs. This conference also featured concurrent tracks for CFOs/business managers, as well as up-andcoming engineering professionals and HR professionals. East Side Coastal Resiliency “East Side Coastal Resiliency (ESCR) is a critical physical, social, and economic resiliency project, providing a 2.4-mile-long coastal flood protection system interwoven with existing parks and cityscapes in Lower Manhattan’s most vulnerable neighborhoods. ESCR serves as a groundbreaking example of how dense coastal urban areas in the United States can adapt to the realities of climate change and sea level rise. As the first major coastal flood protection project in construction in New York City, ESCR literally set the standard for flood protection around the city. Our team worked extensively with City agencies and offices to define and refine the flood protection design criteria for the project, establishing a level of protection that has since been replicated for all coastal flood protection projects underway in Lower Manhattan. in the park eight to twelve feet to turn the entire park into a space in which a resilient landscape and recreational amenities merge with a hardened line of flood protection, all while achieving universal accessibility to the waterfront. Each year, ACEC New York recognizes exemplary individuals for their leadership, commitment, innovation and service to the consulting engineering industry and the greater New York community. The awardees are selected for their achievements and support in furthering the council’s mission, their active participation at the city, state and national levels of the organization, and their civic and humanitarian contributions. Awardees are not limited by region - any firm can submit a nomination.
