OMA — Toulouse Exhibition and Convention Center
With the new MEETT Toulouse exhibition and convention center, Dutch office OMA (Office for Metropolitan Architecture) once again demonstrates its capacity to transform a seemingly mundane project for a commercial complex into an architecture that is both striking in its sheer scale and refined down to the smallest details. An elongated parking garage serves as the main axis and heart of a spectacular (600 meters long) yet simple
(consisting of three parallel strips) and efficient machine for managing— and generating—large-scale events. With its large format and featuring remarkable photographs by Marco Cappelletti, this book successfully manages to capture the extraordinary spatial quality of the MEETT.

In the life of an architectural project, its completion opens up a special period. After years of design work and construction, and before the client takes possession of the structure, the work is as if in waiting. Soon it will start operating and will deliver the performances expected by the client and envisioned by the architects. But for a while it remains still, silent, in the freshness of its completion. This book wants to account for that particular moment and to show the project at the time of its completion. By its unusually large size and superb photographs, the book aims to reveal all the dimensions of an exceptional piece of architecture. Our thanks go to Toulouse Métropole and Europolia.
